About the authors
Rowena Rede lives on a small farm in rural West Virginia. She’s an avid pop culture and book enthusiast. She misses the good old days when she had her own pull list at the local comic book shop in the next county. A self-professed curmudgeon who loves reading and writing Historical, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Horror, and Urban Fantasy books when time allows. She is quite proud of her humongous TBR Pile which will never be finished much like her Netflix queue. She always has time for a good meme and has never turned down a carbohydrate. If you also enjoy these things, feel free to follow her on social media.
Pizza? Derek Borne here, and I'm a Canadian author of Sci-Fi novels. When I'm not writing, I spend time with my lovely wife and our super fluffy kitty Libby. Other times, I'm eating pizza, belting out Broadway showtunes, playing guitar, eating pizza, watching anything to do with Marvel superheroes, and making movie references daily. Oh, and eating pizza.
And for added emphasis...pizza.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2019***** 5 Dog Catching Stars *****
The charismatic and witty duo are on the case yet again! Mini mission number four of the Ultimate Agent series deals with “an old tale of an eighteen-eighty-seven sighting of a seven-foot-tall canine-like animal with the build of a human.” Is there any truth to the Michigan Dogman legend? The Ultimate Agent and the Specialist are determined to find out! This short, action packed, and entertaining read is suitable for all ages. I was never much of a super hero fan, but Borne has changed my perspective! I’m curious to see what evil the duo will combat against next. Although this story can be read as a stand alone, I highly suggest checking out the entire series! The Bigfoot Files, The Mothman Files, and The Loch Ness Files are also five stars reads!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019Honestly, who doesn't enjoy a nice crossover. I do admit I haven't read any of Rowena's work but after reading this story, I will be. Brett and Devon are sent to Michigan to meet up with a mysterious government agent for a vaguely given mission. Thatcher isn't warm to the idea of working with the good guys but it's the only way that they can stop the dogman's rampage and steal it from Helios. But as this story unfolds, more is revealed about the dogman's origins and Thatcher's motives, causing the UA boys perplexed. No spoilers, read it and enjoy! I highly recommend this one!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2019A thrilling, exciting, touching story! I loved learning about this creature and how he became that way. And all the action scenes had tension and spirit and were so much fun and so exciting to read. Just like the other stories by this author, this one is suspenseful while also being touching and compassionate. Great characters, including a new one, and a really fun read. Very well done! I love all the stories I’ve read from this author, and I look forward to reading more of whatever he writes!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2019The first chapter actually had me feeling a bit anxious- something about the woods at night. This adventure brings us to Michigan. What makes this story stand out a bit more is the introduction of a new agency and agents. “So, blondie’s the brains and the other guy is the brawn.” Another favorite line from a new character: “You must be the... re-enactors....” These stories blend humor, action, mysteries, super spies, and empathy quite seamlessly.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019This was Rede's first published work and both authors' first foray into the world of co-writing. And they did a great job. It was well blended and despite the fact that I've read all of Borne's published work, I had a hard time spotting where each writer began and ended. The UA world stayed true to itself and Rede's world sparked my interest, gaining her a spot with Borne on my writers to watch list.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2019The duo is back at it again, only this time they're after the Michigan Dogman! The storyline was good and there's an introduction to a new character. Derek and co-author, Rowena Rede nailed it with this sequel in the series. There was a lot of excitement and fun! I have to admit this is my favorite in the series and I look forward to more to come.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2019Having read the first three books in this series, and being from Michigan where the Dogman and Buddy's are legend, I had to read this. The action is only matched by the humor of which there is plenty. If you want a good hour of fun fantasy entertainment, this is your book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2019If only each of us took more time to actually do so. This particular story reminds me again of how easily fear can divide. Brings hope that more logical thought and kindness can unite.
