Mail Order Letitia: An Impostor for Christmas Book 9 Kindle Edition
To save him from being swindled, she must deceive him.
When forced to live with her late mother’s much younger sister, Aunt Matilda, she and Uncle Clyde made it clear that if Letitia wishes to eat, she will participate in the family business ― swindling people. Matilda’s latest scheme is writing to well-to-do men seeking wives through correspondence, with Letitia doing the writing. Collecting spending money and tickets to be cashed in is bad enough. The last straw for Letitia comes when Matilda decides to travel to marry a rancher she learns is well-off. She is already married to Clyde, isn’t she? Then there is the manner in which Clyde puts his hands on Letitia's shoulders and assures her he will take real good care of her until Matilda returns.
Samuel Grayson has spent a decade building a successful ranch near Laramie, Wyoming. He now wishes to marry. After writing three letters to Matilda in Baltimore, he decides she is the one for him. He wants her in his home as his wife by Christmas.
Until the letter with tickets and money from Samuel Grayson arrives, Letitia had never, of her own free will, stolen anything. However, she sees this as an opportunity to save this unsuspecting rancher from Matilda and herself from Clyde. She only hopes, if Samuel Grayson ever finds out the truth, he will see it the same way.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2025This was a wonderful story of a mail order bride and her groom. It is a clean novel with a HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2024Letitia lived with her aunt and uncle after her parents had both died. She wasn't happy with the things they did to earn money. She saved what little she could so.she could move away. When Samuel Grayson sent money and train tickets, Letitia used them to travel t o.him and become his bride.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024I do enjoy Ms Abbott work and this one did not disappoint as well! Actually quite a different beginning and plotting in this one although it’s written well and holds attention!
I can say the plot is interesting and a bit unusual!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2022What a twist on this wonderful mail order bride story!
Poor Letitia was forced to live with her aunt and uncle when her parents pass away. Their form of earning money to live is bilking money out of people by any way they can. Her aunt's latest scheme is answering mail order bride letters and then taking the money they send for their bride to come out to join them.
Her aunt Matilda intends to go marry a man named Samuel who is a rancher and very well off. But how can she do that when she is married! Letitia steps in and takes the money and ticket and goes herself.
Samuel had decided on Matilda as his bride after exchanging letters and is surprised when Letitia shows up with his letter and money. What has happened?
Such a wonderful story, especially for the holidays to show that when least expected, the best in life can happen!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2022I enjoyed the story. It was planned out and different than most mail order brides stories. The ending came very quickly after Leticia was married. It could have been expanded to see the love grow a few chapters longer. Kept my interest and I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2022Letitia lost her parents and has a situation with her aunt that constantly leaves her dealing with people and events that are against her scruples. Assuming her aunt's identity should lead to a better life.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021A younger niece takes the place of her scheming Aunt in a mail order bride story. Running away, from her supposed uncle and aunt, she used the money sent for her aunt's travel for herself. Meaning to warn him or marry him will be the question.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025It's a novella, not a novel.
To call it squeaky clean is a misnomer since there’s a pretty sleazy dude. To say it has inspirational features is rather silly. God was crammed into a few spots in order to make it seem that way. I’m giving it 3 stars because trying to get some religion in seems superficial.
Apparently, there are several series of “mail-order brides” novels and novellas. If that's your shtick you’ll probably like this fast little read.
