Music of My Heart (Elves After Dark Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 104 ratings

In the North Pole, Nym works as an Observer. It’s his job to watch over the children of the world and report back to Santa on who’s being naughty and who’s being nice. Falling in love with one of his charges, however, would not only be cause for removal from his post, but falling in love with a human child and watching him grow into a beautiful young man, would be cause for banishment. Humans don’t know elves and Santa really exist.

Nym cannot help his amorous feelings for the talented Josiah Patterson, and as Josiah has since turned eighteen and passed out from under Nym’s watch, it’s been months since Nym has observed him. With Josiah away from his close-knit family at college, Nym hastily decides to leave the North Pole for the first time to take Josiah the only Christmas present he might receive that year.

One thing Nym never expected, however, was for Josiah to be able to feel Nym’s emotions.

With a nudge of support from an unexpected ally, is it possible for Nym to find the happiness he so desires with Josiah? Can an old elf and a young human truly be free to love each other?

Morgan Mason is a gay romance author and reader, who got her start writing YA. Her penchant for sweet stories with a good dose of spicy heat thrown in, always end with a happily ever after. Some of her characters find love easily, some take the scenic route, but all in all, everyone gets there in the end.

When she’s not reading, writing, or working, Morgan is playing with her three dogs, changing out her “mom hats” for her extremely busy kids, and trying to rein in a husband who continually comes up with new hobbies for them to explore. She’d love to travel the world one day but that would mean pulling her nose out of a book to appreciate the scenery around her and she’s not sure how she would feel about that.

Fun short love story. Nym was so enamored with Josiah, that the elf took a chance to meet his human. Once they met, he sacrificed even more by giving up his whole life just to be with him. Would have enjoyed an epilogue with them having a little more time together.

I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy M/M Christmas story. Nym is an observer, an elf who helps Santa by observing which children are naughty and which are nice. He tracks human Josiah from childhood until he turns 18, and passes from Nym's watch, slowly falling in love with him over time. When Nym decides to leave the North Pole to take Josiah a gift, he is surprised that Josiah seems to feel Nym's emotions. But humans are not supposed to know the truth of Santa and the elves. Does Josiah reciprocate Nym's feelings? Do they dare to break the rules, and can they find a place to be together? The connection between Nym and Josiah was delightful, and they were so cute together. The story has an interesting premise, fun characters, steamy scenes, and beautiful descriptions. Perfect story for the Christmas season.

I love this story. There is a depth not usually found in shorter pieces like this. The growth between the two characters is sweet and the physical connections are pretty steamy. I would love to see this expanded if the author ever feels up to it.

Nym is an observer in the North Pole. Watching over the little children of the world is a very important job but there is something missing for him. Nym did the unspoken and fell for one of his charges.
What is he to do? Especially since his charge was a child and he'd watched him grow up into a beautiful man. After all, would he be believed since Santa and elves aren't supposed to be real.

When kids age out from under his charge, he no longer observed them. Josiah turned eighteen and went away to college. Nym decided to show him a little kindness away from home by giving him a Christmas gift. What was completely unexpected, mutual feelings.

Their relationship was what my emotional well being needed. There is so much upheaval and I thoroughly enjoy getting lost in books, especially holiday romances.

Elves After Dark Series Book 4 – Multi-author – Standalone

Music of My Heart is an enchanting story about an elf who falls in love with a human and the magic that brings them together.

Nym works in the North Pole as an Observer. Hi job, watching over children and reporting to Santa who is naughty and who is nice. Nym spent 18 years observing the beautiful and talented Josiah Patterson and has fallen in love him.

When Nym’s impulsively decides to visit Josiah, he is surprised to find Josiah can feel Nym’s emotions. Are Josiah’s feelings towards Nym real? Can a human and an elf find happiness together?

This delightful holiday story has a bit of everything … music, elves, reindeer, family, friends, and most importantly All the Feels!!

First time reading this author and it isn't the best of impressions. This plot is problematic. An elf who spends his days watching children to determine naughty or nice for Christmas each year suddenly decides that he is in love with one of those children. When the child turns 18 and the elf can no longer observe him, the elf decides that he has to give the young man a gift. The story fluctuates as to whether Nym intended to meet and pursue Josiah or just meant to leave the gift, but the gist is Nym is creeping on this boy BIG TIME. The author acknowledges how the themes could be weird, problematic or disturbing and just continues down that path without really trying to make this whole idea disturbing. Josiah is alone, away from his close-knit family for the first time ever, he's never been in a relationship and all of this establishes him as very vulnerable. Nym comes along with all his emotions forced upon Josiah in a way that makes it had for him to tell if he's feeling his own feelings or Nyms and it is a mess. Christian is painted as a villain for having wealth and physical power over Josiah while Nym has magic to do whatever and he's supposedly the better guy because he loves Josiah? This isn't healthy. The story does not manage to make these themes attractive to me. Nym saying "we don't have to do anything" while in the process of doing things with Josiah is textbook predator behavior. Nym getting a home for them and making all these choices as a "surprise" without having any meaningful conversations about anything like that with Josiah is problematic. I don't like this. There was no relationship built or developed here. And Josiah will be stuck under this spell for potentially centuries. This is all very dark when you think about it and the author gives us nothing else to think about.

Music of My Heart is the 4th book in the Elves After Dark series which is a multi-author series featuring elves over and the holidays. This was a charming and sweet story about an elf who has been in love with a human for quite a long time. I really enjoyed reading Nym and Josiah's story and it was perfectly magical and sweet.

Nym is an Observer and works in the North Pole. His job is watching over all the children of the world and reporting to Santa which child is naughty or nice. He has spent 18 years observing Josiah Patterson and falling in love with him. He decides to visit Josiah one day and is surprised to find that he can feel Nym's emotion. Nym knows that elves and humans can't be together but he can't help how he feels towards Josiah. Both of them embark on a magical love story with a HEA for everyone to enjoy :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Nym's Journey For Love
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 20, 2020

Nym had loved Josiah in one way or another all of of the boys life, the boy had always had a kind loving heart and a generous soul. But had not seen anything of Josiah since he turned 18 in March. It was no longer part of Nym's job at the observatory to watch over Josiah as he monitored all the children under eighteen that lived in his sector. Nym was worried about Josiah being at college on his own over Christmas as he knew Josiah's family would not be able to afford to pay for Josiah to come home over the holidays. Nym arranged a gift and organised transport so that he may take him a gift and we him in person at least once, he knew that he should not do this that it could get him in alot of trouble and he feared banishment.
He had thought that he would be able to watch Josiah from a distance and leave his gift somewhere he would find it, but he had no idea the feelings he had for Josiah would intensify so much while in close proximity and when he came across Josiah performing music in the street he had to leave quickly, he realised that he would never be able to have a relationship with Josiah that the boy and his music belonged to the world.
This is a magical love story where love conquers all, and their love is not to be denied. I loved their story, with its emotional, romantic, magical moments.

Enjoyable but it all seemed a little superficial and just a tad creepy to begin with. It took me a fair while to get over that Nym had been watching Josiah his whole life
