Only she has the power to heal his heart…

Freya Fletcher’s ambition to use her nursing skills abroad remains a distant dream while her father’s gambling debts eat into her measly savings. Bound by her job and family responsibilities, she grows desperate to find a way to escape.

Nate Taylor is a man on the run, hiding from the life he left behind when he came to Wellington. Following a car accident at fourteen, he developed the ability to heal, but the memory of a boy he couldn’t save continues to haunt him. He doesn’t believe he deserves to be loved, but the gorgeous Freya provides a temptation he cannot refuse.

Neither of them want a relationship, but one night in a thunderstorm soon develops into a fling. Before long, lust turns to love, but only when they’re able to break free of their pasts will they be able to heal and move forward to a life together.

Warning: contains a hero with hot hands, sexy scenes in a thunderstorm, and a touch of the Twilight Zone.

From the Inside Flap

"Not everything has to be complicated." He reached out to cup her cheek. His hand immediately grew warm, and he stroked her skin with his thumb.

She looked up at him, but she was too far gone, and a tear tipped over the edge of her lashes and spilled down her cheek.

It nearly broke his heart. "Oh, come here."

He cupped her face with both hands, moved closer to her and kissed her.

Cherry, was his first thought as their lips touched and he tasted the lipbalm he'd seen her apply earlier. Concentrate, was his second, and for a moment he focused on the heat in his palms, feeling her soak it up like a sponge.

He'd only meant to make it a quick kiss, a reason for him to touch her, a playful method of cheering her up when she was so obviously down. But she shivered and inhaled, her lips opening slightly beneath his, and all rational thoughts fled his mind as her body relaxed and melted against him, the tension flowing out of her.

He slid his hands into her hair, and it was as soft as he'd imagined, curling between his fingers like pale silk ribbons. It smelled of orange blossom, sweet and light, making him think of warm spring evenings in the sub-tropical Northland as a child, times when he was happy, before all the problems started.

Her lips were soft too, unbelievably so, parting automatically to receive his tongue as he brushed it into her mouth, wanting to savor her. She tasted of the sweet wine she'd been drinking, intoxicating and delicious, stirring his blood and making him deepen the kiss, even though a small part of his brain tried to remind him that this was only supposed to be a fleeting attempt at consolation. Shut up, he told himself. This was the best thing that had happened to him in a long time, and he was going to make the most of it while it lasted.

She stroked his tongue with her own, shy at first, growing bolder. When his teeth grazed her beautiful, plump bottom lip, she gave a little murmur of appreciation, low and sultry, erotic enough to flood him with heat.

He groaned, and in response she moved the hands she'd placed on his chest around his waist beneath the guitar hanging across his back, pulling him closer. He cupped her head with one hand, his fingers sliding into the cool hair at the nape of her neck, the other hand moving down between her shoulders to the small of her back.

Desire flowed through him, making him grow hard where he pressed himself against the flat of her stomach, and he wondered if she'd pull away, shocked. Instead, however, she reached up on tiptoe, molding herself to him, making him sigh. She was soft against him, from her breasts pushing against his muscled chest to her butt yielding beneath the pressure of his fingertips as he slid his hand lower to hold it.

A white-hot heat kindled between them, perhaps born out of the sultry weather that made their skin damp with perspiration and the smell of roses rise from her to ensnare his senses. It made her rake her nails lightly down his back, and in response he plunged his tongue into her mouth, tightened his grip on her ass, and pushed her back against the wall. She met it with a bump sharp enough to make her gasp, jolting him to his senses.

I loved this story. Lots of reasons. First, I loved Nate. What a tortured soul. But, his story is a good one. He is gifted with the ability to heal as a result of an accident. He is young, not guided by the right people and things take a turn for the worse.

The heroine Freya, is a nurse and she comes with her own set issues. She has the parents from hell!!! Early on I wanted to wring her neck for continuing to allow them to use and abuse her. I just don't get that but I know people that do the same thing. However, the story starts to click when Nate and Freya start to develop a relationship - even though neither one wants that.

The story of Nate's healing is one that is very real even though the book is fiction!! So much of the storyline is so very true and is going on in lives of a lot of folks today. That message is a very good one and one we can all use. It has to do with hospice, healing, etc. It sounds sad but it really isn't. In fact, for me it gives one insight into a part of the cycle of life that too many do not have a clue about. It was a very good read. I loved it. I definitely recommend it and hope the message gets to those that need it most. It is definitely one we can all use. I loved it and am reading to go on to #3, TALKING SENSE.

This was a very enjoyable story and a fine sequel to Book 1. Nate and Freya are each dealing with their own baggage.

Freya is given a clear message about how difficult things are going to get before life can get better. To then have a HEA follow along in a relatively easy manner was quite a surprise. Ever had the experience where you turn the page and are shocked to see the book has ended?

This was a beautiful story. It was about love, communication and acceptance of the fragility of all of us and how we are highly effected by those that are supposed to love and care about us the most. I really enjoyed the way Freya and Nate connected with each other. Right from the start they were able to be honest with each other and build a good solid foundation of friendship, support and true love. This was a very unique book.... It was sexy, romantic and sweet but also at the same time taught life lessons that could be helpful to the readers and worth pondering. I highly recommend this wonderful book!

What a pleasure to read. Making Sense is the second book in the Sensual Healing series and just as good as the first one. I like stories that touch on the "other" in this world and this book did not disappoint.

Nate & Freya's love story was sensual and very sexy. They both have family problems that affect their desire to have "freedom" and the strain of those problems have left them broken and unable to move forward in their lives. But once Nate and Freya meet there's an instant connection and peace that just makes sense. Somehow their agreed upon one night stand turned into a love they both can't deny. (sex scenes are smokin' hot).

This a beautiful love story about finally saying "no more", forgiveness and the power of love. I enjoyed this book and recommend it if your looking for a romance story that's not full of angst and drama.

They weren't interested in a relationship. Both of them had family problems and Freya had dreams she wanted to fulfill. We are taken through their attraction to each other, finally admiting their love, and realizing what they had to do before they could have a future.

Freya Fletcher longs for a different life, one where she is free to travel, and use her nursing skills to help others. Too bad family responsibilities keep taking all her money, keeping her tied to the one place she’d love to escape. When her friends convince her to take one evening for fun and relaxation at the local bar, she hesitates at first. But once she is there, she is fascinated by one of the band members they came to hear. Nate Taylor has a unique talent, just not with his music. As a young teen, a car accident left him with the power to heal others, and he is on the run from the family that abused that talent and his trust. He isn’t able to handle relationships any more than Freya is, so it seems like the perfect match; two people who just want some no-strings romance and easy-going sex, no talk of happy ever after. The funny thing is, they forgot to tell their hearts, and as the saying goes, life is what happens when you just aren’t looking for anything special. Can Freya stop enabling her father’s gambling and say no to her family? Can Nate come to terms with his past, and move on, making a place in his life for Freya? Or will the weight of their combined responsibilities drive these two fractured souls apart?

Making Sense is Serenity Woods’ second book in her Sensual Healing series and is set in her familiar Australian world, where things are sometimes unseen, but no less real. I like this world, one where people are open for new and different experiences, and you never know if the person next to you is just your regular person or a psychic who talks to the departed. As always, her characters are multi-faceted and well crafted, and are folks who make you laugh and cry in equal measure.

Freya Fletcher is a strong woman, with responsibilities that keep her from fulfilling her dreams. She has a strong sense of family loyalty, but wants more from life than she has gotten so far. When Nate offers a chance at some ‘no-strings’ sex and fun, she accepts, telling herself that it is all she wants in her life. I liked watching as she fell under his spell, and discovered that there was always room in her life for love. I loved watching as Freya grew and found the strength to, finally, tell her family that enough was enough, and that she was finished enabling them. I loved that Nate supported her decision in that.

Nate Taylor is a sensitive, caring man, handsome and a bit of a wounded hero. His family abused his talent for healing, and pushed him to the breaking point. But rather than strike out at them, he just walked away from it all, using his gift quietly, out of the spotlight, with small things. When he meets Freya, he sees in her a kindred spirit, someone he can relax with, and enjoy a ‘no-strings’ relationship with. I liked Nate, with his gentle manners and his caring nature, and loved watching as love sneaked up on him with Freya. I loved his sense of honesty and fair play; at no time did he lead Freya on, and always was up front with her.

The chemistry between Nate and Freya is hot, almost from the first moment they met. I like that there was no hesitation, and that they both head into this with no expectations other than a good time. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from the first book in the series, and look forward to more from this world that Ms. Woods has crafted. The secondary characters deserve to be applauded for their ability to see that these two would have more than either of them expected, and I totally enjoyed watching these two learn about life and love together. This is for all of those who want their romance on the hot side, with some unexplainable powers thrown in. One warning: keep the fan on high, and lots of ice at hand, because, like most of Serenity Woods’ romances, this one goes to scorching quickly and quite often.

We were introduced to Nate and Freya in An Uncommon Sense, and their immediate attraction was very briefly touched on. Now they have their own story. It's a story about forgiveness, moving on and finding your strength. As usual the secondary characters say all the things I would if they were my friends, which is great because I don't have to yell at my book and wake my husband. Beside all this the sex is HOT! (Yes capital letters are deserved) It's bordering on exhibitionist, (even though it's never their intent to be watched or caught.) They just can't keep their hands off one another. I had to stop reading when I was around the half way point, due to too many pressing commitments (Christmas, kids and really late nights). A week later I picked it up again, with no effort remembering what was going on in the story, and finished the rest in one sitting! Thanks Serenity Woods, looking forward to the next.

Nurse, Freya is a woman with a strong mind and big goals. but she is constantly hamstrung by her dysfunctional family.
Nate is an event organiser and sometime musician who has a gift of healing that he keeps a secret.
Their mutual friends Grace and Ash can see the instant spark that happened the moment they met and so they encourage their relationship.
Nate moved to Wellington from up north after a devastaing blow up with his family. He hasn't told anyone but Ash about his past.
Freya is also keeping secrets about the amount of money she is spending on her parents to bail them out. It looks as though her dreams of travel are further away than ever.
Afraid to get involved on a deep level, the two lovers insist it is 'just sex', but their mutual obsession only grows.
When they finally admit their feelings for one another there is still the issues of their families to be resolved. Can their new love withstand the strain?

I don't think Serenity Woods is capable of writing a bad book. I've read most of them now, lots of them twice, but I've only just discovered the Sensual Healing trilogy. Great stories as always, these ones with the fascinating twist of things beyond our understanding and liberally peppered with the sort of sex that most of us romance readers would give our eye teeth to experience on a regular basis!
