Mom in Shining Armor: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel (Magical Midlife Mom Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 367 ratings

How many more skeletons are in my family’s closet?

I’m about to find out.

Life doesn’t get more stressful than magical training with my mother Barbara, knight extraordinaire. She wants to make sure my teenage daughter Regan and I are ready for any fae headed our way. That means running laps for miles, endless pushups, and, of course, yelling. Lots and lots of yelling.

I’ll grin and bear it if it makes us stronger. Our enemies will definitely not pull any punches, not when Regan’s existence holds the literal key to the Old Realm, the fae’s homeland.

But when Barbara insists we train at a secluded monastery, her tragic past comes back to haunt her. My gargoyle boss Gabriel warns me not to go, but we have no choice if we want to go toe-to-toe with the fae pursuing us.

I just hope it’s worth the price Barbara wants us to pay.

Check out this Paranormal Women’s Fiction series that readers are calling a “well-crafted magical adventure” and a “breath of fresh air” from overused tropes.

This is an excellent series in the popular Paranormal Women's Fiction genre. Melissa is the fierce mother of a teenage daughter who is determined to save her from what, at this point, seems to be insurmountable odds. It got exceedingly more complex and daunting in this book! There sure are a lot of bad guys out there...

The stakes are even higher now. Time seems to be running out. The bad guys are exceedingly powerful and Melissa's team is at a distinct disadvantage. Yikes! How will thay manage to win, much less survive, much less save the world?!?

I love these characters and the strength of their bonds. Her relationship with her mother evolves and she even gets to find the answer to a question she's had for a very long time.

I highly recommend this suspenseful and intriguing series! Suitable for YA.

Melissa Hartley is trying to keep her daughter away from the fae Queen that wants to murder her, and that means she and Reagan are staying with her mother, Barbara.
Between the Paladins of the Blessed Order, and the fae keeping them safe, Melissa thinks she might have a chance: but things don’t always go to plan…

Melissa is faced with a few home truths in this part of the story, as secrets are exposed and motivations explained. There are some pretty big events that occur too, and it makes for a huge twist!
This is an engrossing story, with a feisty, midlife, single mother and her sassy, stubborn daughter (and mother). We don’t get to see much of our gargoyle hero in this one, but we do get a lot more magical practise in it!
It’s a fun story, building on the previous two books in the series, and ending on a “to be continued…” note, which makes this very much NOT a standalone story, though it’s not a hardship to read the other books, and personally I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
It’s a good choice for PWF fans, and for fantasy lovers alike.

I don’t know how this writer gets all of this, but I literally can’t put these books down. I tons to do in the house. So I’m on to the next book.

I finally got into the romance in this book (the romance felt more superficial in the earlier books). I enjoyed the fantasy in all the books, but I found the romance lacking. Not so here.

I am in love with all the fae in this book. Vanessa is mesmerizing; Lucas is hot; Patrick is hilarious.

The fantasy here is different but enticing. The urban setting is amazing. The theme of mother-daughter relationships is explored well. While the romance is present, it does not take over the fantasy, which I prefer. All in all, a stunning book.

Holy drama Mama. All the way around. Poor girls can't catch a break....but can get caught up in heartbreak. Everyone is out to get them old family secrets get spilled and not enough coffee.

While I enjoy the characters and world, this particular novel in this series was too much for me. In many ways, it was too melodramatic, too fast paced, too much going on, and had way too much screaming. Seemed more like a teen paranormal fantasy than an adult read. I literally skimmed the last 40% of the book due to that. Also, on a personal level as a reader, I am a Christian, and I took umbrage with this series stating that angels were fae that were seen by humans and used in "Bible stories". That was not okay, at all. Angels are holy spiritual beings in Christianity, and there would be HUGE backlash if the author carelessly made statements like that about any other religion in the world.

While Melissa, Reagan & Barbara try to stay in hiding, their interactions with the Fae & dangers are increasing. Some new characters enter the picture & there’s a mighty interesting twist you’ll only partly see coming. Ends not on a cliffhanger, but definitely on a note that will make you happy the next book is ready to read. Tty after the finale

    Brave mom and family.
    They can't trust anyone.
On the run, and running out of options.
Unlikely allies and hard decisions to be made.
    Great series!
