    Managing Desire is the eighth book in the multi-author Not the Good Guy series and is by Barbara Campbell and Kyra Nyx. This story continues an overarching story-line about the Kazon Brothers and Desirous Intentions. This story is about Barrett Russo, who works with Gabriel and they own Desirous Intentions, and Adelita, who owns Ivory Tower. They meet in person for the first time at a business conference and the sparks and innuendo fly, even as they are negotiating business together. What starts as a one off becomes a regular, no strings attached fun fest. Both had a very rough start in life growing up in foster care, but with different experiences. Adelita has pulled herself up and worked really hard to start her company and then be at a place where it is ready to take the next step up, working with Desirous Intentions. But will her secret relationship with Barrett prove to be a downfall when one of her competition gets snarky and goes to Gabriel directly, so behind Barrett's back. Meanwhile Barrett has been developing feelings and more for Adelita so he is willing to put it on the line to protect her and make sure she is taken care of.

    This is a fast-paced story that envelopes you in a world that is part dark underworld, business and romance. I liked both Adelita and Barrett and how their fling becomes a relationship, sneaking up on them both. But will Adelita really let Barrett in and see just how much he cares for her? You can be sure there is an HEA but getting there is a fantastic read.

    This is the eighth book in the Not the Good Guy series. It's a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish.
    This is a story about a h and H who have managed to overcome the setbacks of their pasts.

    I liked the book but it just didn't grab me in a way I was expecting. Adelita and Barrett have chemistry and I like them but issues pop up and resolve too easily. There isn't a lot of struggle and even past darknesses that impact the present are skimmed over.

    I think if this were to be expanded into a novella from a novelette, it would've given the space to really get to know and appreciate these characters. Perhaps another time. 🤷

    Barrett is part owner of Desirous Intentions and has been known to be a bit of a playboy. Adelita owns a small but successful company, Ivory Tower, that is bidding on business from Desirous Intentions, but she would not mind getting to know Barrett a bit better.

    Managing Desire is a great story that will take you a ride of twist and turns, not only of your heart but as things heat up between the owners. Barrett realizes there is something different about Adelita and does not complete the steps in his job when he offers her the business. This leads to discord between him and this partner. Adelita is carrying a secret from her past and is counting on the contract to help her to help others.

    Grab a drink and sit back and enjoy this story from start to finish.

    Barrett and Adelita both have had rough pasts and don't do relationships until they meet each other. They are perfect for each other with their intense chemistry. Managing Desire is a steamy story with a great ending and I look forward to reading more books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

    Adelita is at a business conference hoping to run into Desirous Intentions business representative. Adelita is hoping that she wins the contract for her company Ivory Towers for the data security for Desirous Intentions. Barrett Russo is the person that helps make the business decisions on new companies that Desirous Intentions takes on. They talk for a while then he sends an email and then they decide to make a night of it together. They have a consensual relationship but it's turning into something more. There is some drama, they've both had some pain in their pasts, and their passion and love make the story heartwarming. You can feel the pain that Adelita has when she finally tells Barrett about her past. Great HEA. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Two people with dark pasts connect on a level that’s more than just a hookup. LOVED this addition to the “Not the Good Guy” series plus its connection to “Smoochin on the Boss” which is also by Barbra.

    Barrett and Adelita compliment each other in every way. Both with dark pasts, they are known for having fun and not doing relationships. A business meeting leads to a one night stand which leads to a regular hookup. Both are catching feelings but aren’t sure when the time is right to tell the other. Drama unfolds with their mutual business and could cause the end of whatever they are.

    Read their dark and streamy story. These two characters are damaged but not broken. They rise above and make names for themselves. They fit together perfectly but need to take a chance on being together. Barrett is bad boy perfection. Especially after his heart is stolen but the beautiful Adelita. He will do anything to right her world.
