This variation of P&P by Ms. Joy is so far my favorite. Intrigue, mystery, adventure, and love are all found in this volume. In his effort to save the Bennet's reputation, Darcy had found Wickham and Lydia. He arranged for them to marry, but is kidnapped. Thus this thrilling adventure begins. Without spoilers, I will say that I loved this story. Due to the complex nature we get not only Elizabeth and Darcy's points of view, but several other characters as well. This is one of her longer novels, but I was engrossed the entire read. Well thought out and done in such a way to turn the classic on its head while still honoring the classic story we know and love. I anticipate reading this one again. Would highly recommend this adaptaion.

I enjoyed the book. There was enough storylines to keep me entertained. This wasn't a lovey-dovey Darcy and Elizabeth story but there was always some type of understanding the entire time they were on screen together. I like the addition of Nick, Alex and the crew. It was something different since I normally don't read P&P pirate stories. To sum it up, I'm glad I finally decided to read it.

Side note- The one thing that confused me a few times, early on in the story, was Lord Matlock and Richard's nonviolence stance. I can understand it if they were against violence used in anger or just because they can, but telling someone not use it to defend yourself was puzzling. It makes me wonder how Richard became a Colonel in the army and if Matlock approved of Richard joining the army.

I'm not a huge fan of pirate stories, so I would absolutely have passed this one up if I hadn't enjoyed the other books in this series so much. Like the others, it wanders deeply off cannon, staying charming and very entertaining throughout. There are lots of new characters, but some of my favorites are part of the story including Good Matlock, Good Colonel Fitzwilliam, and the ever faithful Mr. Gardener. Wickham is awful, but never a danger to anyone except Lydia's happiness. He's gets his. She grows up a bit. Mrs. Annesly gets a more interesting role.

The real star here is the dialogue. Jennifer Joy is brilliant at allowing her characters to speak for themselves. There's little repetition and no dreary explanations that could have been conveyed more naturally.

    SPOILERS

Hard to describe the story. It’s totally unlikely but totally charming. Darcy becomes a pirate, just like his rein brother no one knew existed. Yes, silly but wonderful. Lizzy becomes a pirate to teach a woman pirate how to be a proper lady. The prate leader has a heart of gold, of course, so to pay Lizzy for her time and expertise she teaches Lizzy self defense. Fair trade for everyone.

How could farcy have a twin brother. The answer is one of the major plots. So what is Darcy’s rein like? Strangely similar in the way he thinks and his mannerisms. Nature versus nurture was fun to read about.

Just a great story. It was kind of like the movie ‘It’s a mad, mad , mad world’. Lots of unlikely serious scenes are taking place but it’s so entertaining it becomes light and funny.

This was a pleasant enough tale, but for some reason I had a hard time being completely engaged. I have enjoyed other books by Ms. Joy more, but I believe this just to be personal preference. As always, the book was well-written, the plot was well-developed, and editing was done well.

I admit, one of the first things I look at is the length. But, number of reviews and average of high star reviews is an important piece of information for me as well. Because of the excellent reviews, and in spite of the length, (like, how long does it take to tell a story?), I started reading. I am so glad I did! It was a really great read! It isn't an effort to read because you get sucked in, and NEED to find out what happens next. You won't find me complaining about new characters, especially when they were an integral part of this interesting and original piece. I also don't complain when some of my least favorite of the original characters are barely mentioned, like that a lot! Really just great from beginning to end. Thank you Jennifer Joy!

You have to be able to really suspend disbelief for this one, but if you can accept the unlikely and overlook inconsistencies and sudden plot changes, you might find this quite enjoyable to read.
