Marriage For One Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 16,512 ratings

Jack and I, we did everything backward. On the day he lured me into his office, which was the first time I’d ever seen him, he proposed. You’d expect a guy like him, striking yet seemingly unattainable, to only as the love of his life to marry him, right? No…it was me—a complete stranger who had been recently dumped by her fiancé. You’d think I’d laugh, call him crazy and walk away. Well, I did all that, except for the walking away part.

It took him mere minutes to persuade me into a business deal—scratch that, marriage as he called it—and only days for us to officially tie the knot. What should’ve been magical and the happiest day of my life felt more like a nightmare. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I’d envisioned for myself. I blamed him for my lapse in judgment, his ocean-blue eyes and unapologetic gaze that drew me in, and that mysterious frown that would soon become my fascination.

Not long after he declared me the biggest mistake of his life, everything shifted. While he still didn’t speak much, his actions spoke louder than words. Day by day, my heart began to get a mind of its own.

One moment he was a stranger, the next, he became everything. One moment he was unattainable, the next he seemed to be completely mine. One moment I thought we were in love, the next it all nothing but a lie.

After all, I was Rose, and he was Jack. Our names alone doomed us from the very start. Did you expect anything else?

The slower the better
What a lovely, incredible book. I've let myself savor it's beauty for the last couple of days before I thought about what to put in the review. I read it slowly and devoured every bit of it. Jack is a surly yet kind business man who has a false facade that makes him come off as a demanding, somewhat grumpy man. But at the heart of it, he's a sweet soul who only wants what's good for the only person in his life he's ever let in. And that's Rose. Rose is tough. She hasn't had it easy, but she doesn't keep her from accomplishing her dreams, from conquering her goals and her new husband. It doesn't just happen. It marinates in both of them until neither can deny the feelings that are developed. I can't stop thinking about these wonderful characters that Ella Maise has created, she's reached inside of them and shown us their secrets, their insecurities, and their love for one another. I've read every book Maise has to offer and devoured each one, finding appreciation in them all and reading in awe at her amazing ability to bring the characters to life.

I became a huge fan of Ella after I read ‘To Love Jason Thorn’ and after that I had to stalk this author and read and listen to all of her books. So when I found out her new book was coming soon . I was over ecstatic and this book checks all the boxes for what I had expected from Ella Maise -

    ✔️Page Turner
    ✔️Eloquent Writing
    ✔️Captivating Plot
    ✔️Relatable Characters
    ✔️ Slow Burn Romance

This book was beyond my expectations and the story and characters were truly mesmerizing and left me in awe. It’s a slow burn romance which kept me enthralled and flipping through the pages . The characters and their chemistry was pouring through the pages .

"I want to be that person to you, rose. I want to be the person you lean on. You and I, we're the same. We have no one but each other. You'll lean on me and I'l do the same. We'll learn how. we're in this together..."

Jack was like no other characters Ella has written previously. He was this enigma and a mystery. A perfect male specimen who I wanted to study in depth under a microscope. He had this untouchable aura around him. With his frowns and arrogance his character attracted me to find more what he was really about. I wanted to peel layers off him to find out the real Jack.

"My husband was perfect. With all his arrogance and prickliness, Jack Hawthorne was perfect for me.
He wasn't what I'd had in mind or even what I'd wanted for myself, but he was perfect and already mine, truly mine. There was no doubt of that in my mind..."

Rose was this breath of fresh air. The book was honestly sooooo soooo good and Jack totally kept me hooked with his mysterious aura . This is a slow burn romance and though I am not a huge fan of slow burn romances but this book was sooo good with its beautiful writing to mesmerizing characters. One of my favorite books from 2019.

I wish Ella won’t make her readers wait another year for us to savor and indulge in her beautiful story. I can’t wait for the audiobook to be released. It would be a treat to listen to Jack & Rose’s Story. Ella know how to take her readers by surprise and keep them hooked from the get go and this book will surely keep you hooked. Definitely a must read and I highly recommend this book. Best Slow Burn Romance of 2019 and surely not to be missed

    🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

    ⭐⭐💫 Where's the Plot Stars

I'll start by saying that I really liked To Love Jason Torn and that I loved To Hate Adam Connor.
With that out of the way, I"ll say that I can't see this book as something written by the same author. Not exactly anyway...

The book starts when they're getting married at a court house, with she internally freaking out cause she barely knows him. Afterwards he says that it was a mistake and disappear for more than a week.
I was so confused that I restarted the audiobook and even checked the ebook to see if I was missing a prologue or even any kind of introduction of the whys or the whos.

More than half of the book consists of she working at her coffee shop, while he follows her around being cold and grumpy, while still helps her with everything she may need.

It's weird cause you don't know until the end, why he really wanted to marry her.
It was not an arranged marriage, but an instant proposal and acceptance.
There's obviously more to it that I'm not saying, but my point is that when the twist that would answer the why finally arrived, it was too late in the story and honestly, too lame.
It would make more sense if he had told that he did it all for love, even if it would also be stupidly cliche, than the reasons why he proposed a woman that didn't even knew him.

There was little to no plot at all.

It was cute to see them falling for each other, she helping him to be a civilized man and he offering her the family support that she never had. I really liked them as a couple. Somewhere along the way, I started to warm up to them, and I was definitely swooning over Jack running through the Central Park to save Rose.
As a romance, it was sweet even if too long and slow. But as a thick book, I wish there was more depth to the story.

The narration was decent and helped me to finish the book... I would probably be bored if i was reading it.

It was such an cute, unproblematic and adorable read.
Jack is SUCH AN OBSESSED CINNAMON ROLL. And the fact he remembers the way the met meanwhile she doesn’t even saw him 😭😭. He was such a grumpy at first, that kind of made me mad. BUT OH GOD. I’m a whore for him. The way he acts with Rose 😮‍💨😮‍💨. The cute little thing he does are just everything. Forehead kisses, temple kisses. SO IN LOVE.
There is something in Roses character that made me feel so connected to her. My poor baby :( The whole hospital thing was so so sad.
Their relationship grown was so good. Even if they were in fake marriage, they didn’t put themselves in situations when they had to pretend to be in love. So their growing relationship was just for them to see.
And their love confessions were the cutest things I’ve ever read.
This book was amazing. Me GUSTA MUCHOOO.

•Marriage For One von Ella Maise•

Super consigliato!

    Marriage for one ❣️
    ♾️/⭐

I finished this book five days ago. But i think my heart and my mind are still not over with this book. Highly hangover!! I am so not done with this book.

Oh my!! Ella Maise surely knows how to make your heart beat faster. The story is everything.

    Jack and Rose💕

The story is a perfect amalgamation of marriage of convenience and grumpy-sunshine tropes (total sucker for these two).

Rose never knew what stuck her before she said "I DO". That one I Do changed her whole life (Everyone deserves that I DO. I don't know if insta operates where you reside but you hear me GOD loud and clear).

Rose found her love in a man who is honest, careful and meticulous when it comes to her. He noticed every little thing about her (take my heart away).
I think Jack is just a blend of all the perfect adjectives ever existed for a man. He shared his home and his whole life with her when she needed it the most. He asked her to be his wife and he would be his man [I have a soft spot for the man who works on their woman's insecurities {bcz as a woman i know we have many} with ease not with complaints).

And what an amazing work Jack did. He fulfilled his wife's dreams. Supported her. Helped her out. Stayed with her at worst. What more could Rose ask for. What more could anyone ask for.

It's PERFECT!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET STORY. Everything is cute and i am telling you everything is cute!!!

    Love love love this book....

And plus whenever he said "MY WIFE" OMG❣️❣️❣️
