Martinis & Moonlight (Country Road Series Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 210 ratings

Minnesota “Minnie” Walker has worked hard for the life she has – a close knit family, successful career, and long-term relationship. When a tragedy strikes, Minnie sacrifices everything to be there for her family. Never expecting a move to the small town of Lexington would change the course of her future, Minnie finds herself wondering if what she always thought was perfect is really what’s best for her … and her heart.

Owen Butler has lived in the town of Lexington his entire life. After years of feeling second best and wasting his time vying for the attention of his father, Owen has settled into an uncomplicated life. Not one to believe in happily ever after, he never expected the new woman in town to have him questioning everything he thought he wanted in life.

Together, under the rays of the moonlight, Owen and Minnie find themselves wondering what the future holds and if facing it together is worth the risk.

Review

There's something so special about Andrea Johnston's books that leave me grinning like a loon. This book is no different--from lighthearted antics when the girls are together to banter that turns into fanning myself moments with Owen. - NYT Bestselling Author S.L. Scott

Fun and light, with great poignancy that keep me hooked. There's enough of every woman in Minnie to make her relatable to all of us. -
Author Sarah Hegger

Martinis and Moonlights is another great addition to this series and perfect to pick up while relaxing by the pool or beach. -

A romantic at heart, Andrea has always been a storyteller. An avid reader since a young age, she never planned to pen her own romance novel but, on a whim, and with no plan, she discovered her passion. Known for her slow burn small town romances, Andrea prides herself on writing relatable characters that the reader cheers for and secondary characters who bring the sass and laughs to each story.

Settled in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dog, she counts down the days when her adult children come home for a visit. Even if it means more laundry!

Andrea Johnston has done it again with book 3 of the Country Road series! This story is about Minnie and Owen, who we have met in previous Country Road books such as Tequila & Tailgates!

Minnie is always looking out for her family but does not always take time for herself. Enter Owen, who thinks only of himself, especially since most people cannot be trusted in his mind. Neither are looking for anything serious, just a late night romp! But feelings become apparent and each are a bit too stubborn to admit to each other how they feel.

What I love about Andrea's books is that you don't see the same characters over and over again, each has their own very distinct personality and backstory. Andrea's writing practically jumps off the page and the reader gets so engrossed in the story that she leaves us wanting more!!!

M&M is written in different points of views so the reader gets a glimpse into each of the characters thought process. This allows for a huge connection (and maybe even a little cussing and head shaking on my part) to the characters!! Owen is used to doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants and getting away with it! He meets his match when Minnie walks in and starts working for the same company that he works for, so there is no getting rid of her. Minnie is a stubborn, persistent and completely loveable character who is so self-less, to the point that she sometimes forgets herself. She is used to working hard in a job that she doesn't love in order to stay in corporate America because she thinks that is what she is supposed to do. She ends up leaving corporate America to help her family and winds up working at Jameson's Construction Company and really loves it! She might not be rubbing shoulders with titans of industry but she finds pleasure in her work which she has not felt before.

With every book that I read of Andrea's I find myself loving even more than the last. The only criticism that I could give is that I wish the book didn't end!!! Andrea's books change and grow so perfectly with every new installment that it is hard not to be a fan girl! I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an awesome read that they cant put down. I cannot wait for more from this talented author!

It feels like I have been waiting for this book FOREVER but really it was just a couple of months. I guess that's what happens when you become attached to characters.I first met Owen and Minnie in Tequila and Tailgates. From the first interaction they had, I needed to know where their story was going. I was not disapointed. The tension was off the charts from start to finish.
Andrea touched my heart with a story full of romance and love in all facets. What touched me most to see was the unconditional love and support of family. As you can tell there is more to this story than just Minnie and Owen's attraction. Andrea does a great job balancing the plot and giving multi-dimensional characters.
Martinis and Moonlight is the third installment in Andrea's Country Road Series and though the characters from the other two books have cameos, this book can be read as a stand alone.

Minnie has stepped up to the plate! She has stepped in to fill a critical role in her family at her own personal expense. She is temporarily taking care of her two nieces. When she takes a job working for Jamison and his construction company she's immediately welcomed into the Country Road gang and gets to know the whole crew. She and Owen are particularly drawn to each other and begin to spend time getting to know each other. They each like the other more than they should and the tension begins to pull them apart and push them together. You'll soon come to love Minnie. She is kind and loyal, dedicated to her family, selfless, sweet, and incredibly endearing.

Owen is kind of an ass. He's focused on his job and trying to build a satisfying and fulfilling life even though he's carrying enough family baggage to hold anyone down. But, when he comes into Minnie's orbit, he wants to shed the baggage and be the kind of man she needs and wants.

Their love story is fun and flirtatious, sweet and steamy and everything you want in a heart-felt, character-driven, small town romance. I can't recommend Martinis and Moonlight enough and I firmly believe this is Andrea Johnston's best work yet! You should definitely one-click this book today!

An advance copy of this book was received. I must confess that I am a Beta reader for Andrea Johnston. I had a chance to read Minnie and Owen way before the rest of you get that pleasure! Believe me, this is not a book that romance lovers want to miss out on. Receipt of the advance copy did not impact the content or independence of this review. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of icon ratings. This book received additional icons for: romance, steamy, tension, funny, sweet, butterflies, and supporting characters.

I fell in love with Minnie and her drive to put others before herself. Once things are going well her family suggests she try getting out there and being social. I can totally relate to her life and not wanting to do anything after how her days go. Sometimes vegging out with a great book and a glass of wine is where it's at.
Owen's outlook on love broke my heart. When your heart has been shattered by the most important people in life it's tough to have a positive outlook. One day things change and Owen wonders if he can too.
I love how Andrea incorporates the titles into important things within the book. It's always fun figuring out where the title came from.
