Matched By My Rival (Thrust Into Love Book 2) Kindle Edition
I hate my teammate, Parker Reed.
I hate that he makes me work so hard for my position on the field.
Hate how he always smiles. How easily he shows me up when I'm injured.
Most of all, I hate that he made me lose my temper.
Next thing I know, football is gone.
My scholarship is gone.
I'm nearly gone, too.
With help, I manage to stay in school for my final semester.
At least without football, I can explore a new side to myself.
See where my attraction to guys takes me without fear of it affecting my future.
I didn't see it coming. The cosmic joke.
The sweet, patient guy on the hookup app?
The one who makes me burn with the desire to have him?
Yeah, it's Parker.
Our chemistry is off the charts, no matter how much I resent him.
Holding a grudge against him is impossible.
But when he wants to walk away from everything I lost, can I accept it?
If I don't, I'll lose him too--and that can't happen.
Because I don't hate Parker Reed.
I think I love him.
Matched By My Rival is an enemies-to-lovers, jock rivals romance. It's Book 2 of the Thrust Into Love series but can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2022Matched by My Rival is the second book in the Thrust Into Love series, and although it can easily be read on it's own, I highly suggest reading the first book in the series before this one. Simon was one of the secondary characters in the first book, and I'm so glad he got his own story - he really deserved it. Simon was under intense pressure to excel on the football field, but Parker, his teammate and rival, was always showing him up...until an impulsive decision gets Simon kicked off the football team. Now that he's no longer on the team, Simon must find out who he is off the field...including in his love life. Parker knows who he is, but he isn't sure football is where his heart is. But a chance encounter on the Thrust dating app puts everything into perspective for these two young men.
I loved, loved, loved this story. Both Simon and Parker were fascinating and interesting characters, and I really liked that it wasn't the typical sports romance. There was so much more to Simon and Parker than just football, and the effort they put into figuring themselves out and working through their issues really added depth to the plot.
Nick J. Russo does another incredible job with his narration of this audiobook. The audio performance was outstanding and really brought the characters to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'm excited for the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022Much cuter than expected; the characters were likable, their transition from enemies made sense (growth, reflection, and apologies included), and some funny moments, too. Caught myself smiling throughout at the sweet parts—the cover is a bit misleading, since usually a shirtless man on the front covers issues with plot, syntax, character development, typos, inconsistencies, etc… none of that here, just good writing that let me get into the story and the characters. I’ll be reading more from this author for sure. Hella cute, no regrets 😎
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2022Parker and Simon are the best couple! Starting with Simon’s believable hatred of Parker that started in Book 1 of the series, “Swiped by My Dad’s Best Friend”, their story picks up in Book 2, and it’s a keeper! I don’t want to give anything away, because everything in this book completely wowed me. There is suspense over what will happen between them, and there are ups and downs, but it’s heartwarming to watch, and you find yourself pulling for them all the way. It’s fun, it’s hot, it’s got families who are real, and watching them go from enemies to lovers was one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had in a long time. Really - read it! I do recommend reading Book 1 first, because you get the full story behind their original BIG conflict. Book 2 is fantastic, but it’s even better following Book 1.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021This is a really good, low-angst read and a great continuation of the series. I liked Parker and Simon (more than Trace and Cooper, but I was happy they made an appearance too). I loved the way the enemies to lovers evolved and the tension between these two was FIRE!!! Two words... Paint. Scene. I loved Parker's sunshine to Simon's grumpy. I hope Rhett gets a story soon!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2024Parker and Simon definitely don’t start with a meet-cute! Watching their path from teammates and rivals to friends to lovers is really fun! They are so sweet together (eventually!!) I’d love to read more of their story!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2021I read book 3 in this series first and absolutely loved it so I went back to grab Simon and Parker's story. This was one was ok for me. It took a little while to get going and I was a bit thrown by Simon's complete 180 since we only got to see his angry side at first. I absolutely loved Parker from the start and once they finally got past their issues I did enjoy the story more. Since this was Simon's first time with a man I was hoping for more sexual exploration but their bedroom time was very hot! It did have a very sweet HEA that made me smile!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2021I absolutely love the enemies to lovers trope and this story is a prime example of why.
Simon and Parker have an intensely competitive relationship well before they ever discovered they had been talking to one another through the hookup app. That of course sparks the change in their relationship to something equally intense and combustible. These two light up the page with their chemistry and those smexy times are hot hot hot!
Seeing them grow and mature over the course of their journey is heartwarming and I only wanted to smack them both a time or three. 😂😂😂
If you like enemies to lovers and dominant alpha males with all the chemistry and all the feels, you need this book in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great enemies-to-lovers story!
This book is amazing! Parker and Simon were enemies and discovered how life could be better being together. The story is sweet and funny, the plot very entertaining and the love story simply perfect. I enjoyed a lot enemies to lovers as a topic, because they usually are more intense and emotional and this book didn't disapoint. I can't wait for what is next!

5.0 out of 5 stars swipe right
Simon and Parker started out with a bang literally. I like their texting and not knowing they were right next to each other and not knowing that they might be hating on each other in reality but falling in love through a hook up app.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bi-curious & a Pansexual jocks closeted
After loosing his football carreer and his schoolarship for hitting his teammate Simon struggle a bit and then decide it was time to explore his bisexuality. He met HotPan online. Who of course was his closeted teammate Parker.
The book is centralize on the enemy to lovers aspect. Yes it's writing bicurious but he is mostly already sure of himself, Parker too (he is closeted but knows what he is). There's no awakening subject there. No questionning neither. More like first s*xual experience. And the emotion on wanting to be with someone who is suppose to hate you.
I remove one star because I would have like to know the exact reaction on the coming out to the family, friends, Reth, Connor. And I SO wanted a reaction of the fri*king ex girlfriend, but not such luck. :(
But in all, the book is well writing, the emotions seem age appropriate, struggling college student who stress over emotion, develop love and super horny. There is some hot scene.
