I loved this story! It was a great read with relatable characters in a fun, small town setting. It had just enough drama to keep the story going without overdoing it. I wish I could visit Grant's new home and unique writing cabin in the woods! With such descriptive writing I feel like l have been there, at least in my mind. I liked the perspective of a writer being the main character if the book and experiencing what it was like for him to be successful with his books and movies.
Thanks for the great read. This helped make quarantine bearable!

This was unexpected. I did not read the reviews ahead of time. I did bot know this was an adaptation for Jane Austen’s Emma. I Loved it!!!

This is a fun, modernized adaptation of "Emma" with Knightley as a highly successful author, & the two of them as former classmates in high school.

Grant's fantasy mansion sounds like a blast! I wish there were actual escape rooms like the ones he was helping to establish.

The story pulls off a worthy parallel of "Emma"s plot for our time period. The end felt like things tumbled into place a bit quickly, but was still satisfying. The epilogue was 😍. Fans of the original classic will not be disappointed!

I got to a point where I didn’t want to read the book because it seemed a little boring, but, just as I was about to jump chapters to finish it I realized what the book reminded me of. A Jane Austen book that is not my favorite, but it was fun to read this take off on the book just to see how it all worked out. I enjoyed reading anyway.

Aaaah! Big sigh. Grant is the perfect book boyfriend and a best selling author of heroic adventures. Emily had a pendant for sticking her nose in relationships and thinking they should all fall in line with her plans. She’s also perfect for keeping their small town Eureka Springs on the map with constant fun parades and activities keeping people coming to town. She manages to get herself in one catastrophe after another will she ever manage to fall in the one where she finds her own HEA. Clean.

Emma is my favorite Austen novel and it was fun reading this retelling. I did feel like the story didn't quite work in a few places, seeming forced to fit aspects from the original story that don't quite work in the modern world, but overall I enjoyed this book. I especially loved Grant's character and the fact that he's an author. The descriptions of his house as well as those of the town of Eureka Springs and it's crazy tourist events made me wish I could visit. I definitely recommend this book and the series!

I will admit, I delayed reading this a little bit because Emma is not my favorite Austen character and I have a hard time relating, but once I finally convinced myself to pick it up, it was so much fun! Grantham Robbins is a billionaire mystery novel and screenwriter who moves back to his hometown to again find some inspiration for his writing. His assistant (and loving cousin) hires a matchmaker for him to find a date he actually enjoys for his big escape mansion opening in a few months. Enter Emily Wood, Chamber of Commerce Chair, recreational matchmaker, and freshman-year best friend in high school--until she started hanging with a new crowd and cut him out of her life. They're both attracted to each other, but each fights it not only because they're virtually strangers now, but also because it's her job to find him other people to date. Complicated enough?

Emily was likable because she was always trying to make others happy with her schemes, but (like the classic novel) is blind to what is actually happening around her. Lest you think she's just a boring busybody, her father is also ex-CIA and has trained her well in combat and other areas. She can definitely hold her own. Grant must have been a fun character to write because he's a novelist, but he also creates escapes rooms and has installed many fun 'research' activities in his mansion. Both characters seemed to complement each other well.

On the negative, I had a hard time with an event planner that sent out invites before she had a venue picked. The Regency ball--where everyone knows how to do period dances--was a little over-the-top. Of course, most female readers will swoon over the ball and fantasize about picking their own costumes, so that's just my opinion.

I did receive an ARC for an honest review.

I loved this one best. Maybe because I lived in Bella Vista, AR, for a year but visited frequently over the past 20 years. I’ve been to Eureka Springs and all of the surrounding area. I’ve eaten ice cream in Bentonville Square. It brought back so many memories. Her description of the area is right on. I have to say I’ve read most of her other books and lived the well rounded characters. I enjoy her quick wit and sense of humor. And if you ever get the chance to visit the area jump on it. Oh, and my Granddogs love the Bentonville Square dog biscuits.

Not sure if just me, but I found this book somewhat difficult to get involved in. The title and the storyline sounded appealing. The execution of it, not quite do much. Did like the main characters. Liked her dad. The rest was ok.
