Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me (Unexpected Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 155 ratings

When his father, King Harold, forces Prince Gerome to mate a complete stranger in order to save his unborn child, he complies with a heavy heart and says goodbye to all his dreams of finding love. Gerome’s hurt and treats his mate the way he’s been taught all his life: through power and submission. But with Luis, it doesn’t work.

When Luis is mated off to a stranger, his world ends. He was a carefree student one day and the next a vampire prince demands his submission. He can’t run, but he can hide and hate in silence. So he withdraws until only a shell remains.

Neither of the men has any chance of finding love together until a friend intervenes. Can Gerome forget what he’s been taught all his life, and is it possible for Luis to forget what’s happened to him? Will they ever find their own happy ending? And can love blossom where only hate exists?

A non-shifter, non-alpha/omega m-preg story with 85000 words and a happy ending.

Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me picks up the pieces of Gerome's life after he was forced to mate with Luis to save Alex and his baby. Alex had a little girl the night he was rescued and married Sam six months later (in Saving Alex).
Gerome and Luis are having an awful time together. Sam's had enough of watching this train wreck. He gives Gerome a piece of his mind, and food for thought. Can Gerome and Luis meet in the middle and forgive each other for a chance at love? Do they even want to try? Changes have to be made for them to have a happy ending.
Chris McHart builds the stress on Gerome to the breaking point. Their story is a good one. The books are fun to read. I like the way the stories are told. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.

It felt like this book was written with a little less enthusiasm than the others in the series and that it was almost forced out in parts. But I'm glad to have gotten Luis and Gerome's story. I also look forward to reading about the other loves brewing in this universe.
The shift in feelings did seem rather abrupt between the two MCs and their affection didn't really flow, but it was still an interesting read.

    Third book in series
This book is after the rescue of Alex and the birth of the child. Gerome and Lois have been forced to mate. They truly do not care for each other but try to find a place of coexistence with each other. After a long while of ignoring his mate, Gerome is dressed down by his friend Sam about his treatment of Lois. Gerome then decides to work on the relationship. Lois by that time has no interest. Due to the rules in this society, Gerome owns Lois, Lois losses everything and Has no rights. Before Sams dress down Gerome only reiterates this to Lois. After that the mending is very slow. I think the story was there in this last book in the series, but was really drawn out. If it was halved or maybe went into the side character stories a little more, or made the confrontation with Gerome's father more of a confrontation it would have been 4 stars.

    REALLY ENJOYED IT

An excellent alternate view of a dark human affliction...slavery, sexual slavery under the guise of mating. Even among parahumans this is a disgusting choice in place of love's appearing. One would have to be mighty insecure to trap a mate.

I'm glad Luis and get one found there way. Hope there's more to this series. I would like to know what happens to D and ash, and the rest of the royal family.

4.0 out of 5 stars Controversial beginning, happy ending
Reviewed in Italy on March 1, 2019
This story confronts the question of forced, arranged marriage. Even remembered in a paranormal world, with m/m romance, it still very efficiently describes a terrible situation, that of being sold as a mate, forced into a partnership by a society that considers this action normal because it follows tradition.
Perhaps a bit too ideally, the pain and hate transforms because of the way some friends help one of the protagonists to realize that not always is tradition the best way to get on in life, and both protagonists are willing to work things out in the end.

As no 3 in the series it was a bit disappointing. The first 2 books were pretty good because the theme was different but the first part of this book just regurgitated book 2 from a different point of view. Not a good way to make up a word count😚 and actually got a bit soppy at the end. Not in a nutty to read no 4 if there is one. Sorry!!
