    Matteo decides to cross the border to check on business.Mules have disappeared as well as product.When a beautiful woman walks up an says your not the usual man I meet he says well I am now.She gets snarky he asks her name when she says syx he says six she says not the number six my name is Syx now hers your stuff give me my money.Matteo likes trading snarky words with her.He tells her to watch her mouth.There are so many twists an turns you will be riveted until the very last page an leave you begging for more.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.I love the way she brings the story to life before your eyes an you can feel their emotions an their pain.

    I like this series. I was wondering which route the series would take. Hector is no more and Cruz is the man in charge. He has new blood with him in Matteo, Javi, and Jorge. Cruz is smart and knows how to make the business work both above board and below. In this book, Matteo is the lead and he discovers that he has a thing for one of their female mules. Styx is her name and she is strong and vocal about all things. Her wit is probably what’s attracts Matteo. Styx has a BFF Jill and the work together for more cover your back. I’m just going to say this Jorge and Mitch are sketchy. Arianna is back a keeps the peace. Read On!

    Matteo handles the drug side of Cruz's Cartel and is known as a rule breaker within the family. He's a killer and used to using women and walking away.

    Syx's parents were mules and were murdered. Now Syx is a mule and a dancer for a local nightclub that runs drugs for the Medallion Cartel.

    When Matteo meets Syx for a pass off, he's intrigued by her and her sassy mouth. While Syx wants nothing to do with Matteo, in true mafia, bad ass style he doesn't take no for an answer.

    At first Syx comes across as strong and sassy but that seems to disappear as the story goes on and she starts doing TSTL stuff making me wonder were the other woman I read about went. She puts on a brave front for about a minute then reveals that inside she's scared of everything.

    Matteo takes what he wants and refuses to let her run from their connection, even if he hasn't figured what that means. He's going to hold on tight until he knows how she will fit in his life. In the meantime, bullets are flying and blood is flowing and she doesn't want to be part of mafia life but can't seem to get away from it.

    I had a hard time connecting to these characters. and there were so many things left unexplained, or felt out of character for what I had read, that I was unable to step into the story and suspend my disbelief to get immersed.

    Erin Trejo has a lot of great ideas and talent but this one missed the mark for me and I found myself taking a lot breaks reading it.

    I received an advanced copy, that had editing issues. They were significant enough to distract me from the story, however, those things may have been addressed before finale release. So, take my review with a grain of salt.
