Maverick: A Dark MC Romance (A Dark & Dirty Sinners' MC Series Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,765 ratings

Alessa (Ghost)

Maverick’s in love with a dead man buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where his heart might as well be buried too. My husband’s stuck in the past, lost in his fractured mind, and the last ten years are a blur to him, meaning I’m a blur to him.

But I’m not a ghost. I’m a woman. I’m alive. I breathe. I hurt.

Should I let go or hold on?

My instinct is to let go, but I have family now. People who matter to me. A posse I’ll kill for.

I’m no longer nothing, I’m something.

I’m a Sinner.

And I’ve found my ride and die… now I just have to get him to remember me.

Impossible?

I’ve beaten worse odds and survived.

Game on, Maverick. Game on.

MAVERICK is the sixth book in the eleven-book ‘A Dark & Dirty Sinners’ MC’ series.

It is not a standalone.

Words Turn Me On

First of all, who do you think you are writing a book like this?! I was not expecting this wonderful book. Please don't get me wrong, I don't hop into books expecting them to be bad or anything, but this was more than just an MC book. I have never read a book by Serena Akeroyd and I am officially hooked!

This series just gets better and better! I love how the author doesn’t just try to get a quick book out that covers the bases, but that we see real character development and layers to every story. Mav has always been a fav of mine and I love how she isn’t painted perfect. Most authors fail to address the struggles that returning soldiers face but not Serena. Nope this author paint vividly how painful the daily struggles can be and how love isnt easy. Love is hard and messy and we see the fight her characters go through in each book she writes. Not going to lie, I am dying for Storms story buuuut the wait is worth it. Please please please let this be a long series! :)

Encourage you to purchase the whole series and to read in order. You will have a love hate relationship with these men but love will prevail:)

This was an emotional and intriguing story that I enjoyed. I have to say that I'm not impressed with the numerous cliffhangers, which seem to keep growing more with each book. I get that there's a lot going on with this crew, but it's getting a little out of hand, at least in my opinion. For example, it took more than 5 books for one major secret to be revealed, and when it was, it was a little paragraph and then nothing. It seemed like there was going to be some big deal about it, especially since it took so long to be revealed, but after a very short conversation, that was it. As much as I really like this series, as well as the crazy characters, I'm not sure if I want to keep reading it if it's only going to continue with more cliffhangers (which I really hate btw!) and unanswered questions.
I really liked the recap of the previous stories (can't remember if it was in this book or the previous one), but with the numerous things going on, it's kind of a must, even for those who have followed this series from the beginning. It's difficult enough to keep up with a series, but even more so when there's months between the release dates.
At the end of this book there was a reading order which was not in any of the previous books, at least not in the order that was presented. The problem with this is that it doesn't only include this series. I had planned on reading the other series as well, but to learn that the reading order bounces between the two (especially after the fact), lets just say that I'm not thrilled. I'm wondering how much more I would have been able to understand about the situations and the characters if I in fact followed the order? Now I feel like I will be missing something by not reading the other series. It makes me feel like I'm being pressured to read both, which is one thing that will turn me away from an author.
I have really enjoyed this series, aside from the numerous cliffhangers, I would really hate to stop reading it, but if it continues to be more of how it's been (gaining more questions than answers), then I will definitely not be reading any more. I'll have to see how the next book is when it's released in March. :(
I would recommend this book, series, and author. Just be aware of the many major cliffhangers.

I can't put it down. I've been reading at any spare chance that's how hooked I am. The plot keeps getting better. Man Mav hubba hubba. Heartbreaking and just love how he and Alessa are each other's puzzle piece. I love Guila and how she's top Alpha Bee heading the posse. Loved it. Alessa is finding herself and being the survivor she is too. The way the author has 5pts and the MC whewww it's fine so well. Enjoyed it and on to the next book on the reading order list. Omg the epilogue I couldn't stop I was itchy to read more and I was glad I did. Loved it. I can't wait for Star's story. She's my hero!!

This is the first book out of the series that had me bawling! I can't deny I got choked up and teary-eyed with some of the previous books but this one just pulled at my heartstrings a little harder. What Ghost aka Alessa, Amara, Tatana, and Sarah went through at the hands of Lily's family as well as the previous people who were abüsïng them is beyond heart-wrenching! It's so hard to read what they experienced and what they are left to overcome because of that. They are left beyond traumatized, they are left utterly broken. The girls as Tiff calls them are rescued by the Sinners, from cages in an abandoned cabin. When found Sarah is deceased in her cage and the other three women are on the brink of death. Yet after all they went through at the hands of evil men and women, Ghost is trying to find it within herself to move on and overcome her trauma. Which of course is easier said than done, but when she meets Maverick one of the brothers in the MC she slowly starts to let him in and they become a source of strength for one another. Mav has been in a wheelchair for over 4years since returning home after his last deployment. Doctors don't know why he's wheelchair bound when they can't find anything wrong with him? Well after a horrible incident at the clubhouse, Maverick almost loses his life once more. But when he awakens so much has changed. Ghost must show him and the rest of the Sinners the real Alessa in hopes of getting her Mav back to normal. So much happens but at the end we see that real love always wins even if you have to fight for it every single day. This book is so moving and shows not only what victims of sëxüal abüsë have to try to over come but also what our Veterans go thru on a daily basis and how they suffer from so much more than PTSD yet they don't receive the proper help that they deserve. I absolutely loved Maverick and Alessa and I can't wait to hear from them in future books. ❤️

Maverick is the sixth book in the Dirty Sinners’ MC series by Serena Akeroyd. If you haven’t read books 1-5, you’ll need to before starting this. Since I started reading this series, I could not wait to get my hands on Maverick’s book. And let me just say it was so worth the wait. I laughed, I cried, and my heart broke for these characters. Ghost (Alessa) was an incredible heroine. Both her and Mav have been put through the wringer. They both brought each other so much comfort and their connection was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend reading this book!

This book is amazing, honestly all the MC series is. Finished in a day and about to start reading Hawk!
100% recommend this book, it can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading all the series to understand the story thread, you won’t regret it!

This book is excellent. Serena Akeroyd pulls the reader into the life of the MC. This book also hurts to read. There are some very hard scenes to get through. It ends on a cliff hanger, and that made me want to scream - because I need to know what happens next.

Definitely worth the read, but if you get anxious about what happens next, be forewarned, we don’t solve it in this book.

An excellent series, and I am most definitely looking forward to the next book.

This book delves into some pretty serious issues in a super sensitive manner. Amidst the growing chaos and conspiracies of the story, the characters must deal with heavy things like PTSD, amnesia, surviving abuse and trying to form relationships after trauma.

I adore Ghost/Alessa. She is such a strong character. It is wonderful to see her begin to come into her own in this book.
Maverick is aptly named. We learn so much more about his history in this story and watch him try to piece his mind - and life - back together again.

There’s a pretty crazy cliffhanger at the end of this story. It’s a bit of a theme I’ve noticed with Ms Akeroyd’s books!

This broke me. Just broke me, what Serena does with her pen and her words are just beyond.... I didn't realised how much of the NWS mystery was in this series. I've reread the Five Points series more that a couple of times so far, and only now understanding the whole mystery..

Maverick and Alessa are my ultimate favourite along with Cruz and Indy... I wanna know what does Serena drinks and eats to come up with these amazing, gut wrenching, heartbreaking stories❤️

5.0 out of 5 stars A overwhelming read!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 1, 2022
This book is another hit for Serena and another that deals with hard issues and facts, mixed in with the make believe of the Sinners world!!

It's a harsh reality of what many, who have served, have had to deal with, when attempting to re-acclimate to civilian life.

Those being many numerous things, but PTSD is definitely the biggest along with obvious injuries, whether they're severe or not.

This book focuses on such issues and trials and tribulations dealt within a family dynamic. And just what many have had to deal with!!

It's testament yet again to the talent and the level of fact finding investigative work, Serena has done, so as to write this book. It's done yet again, with great sensitivity and a deeper level of awareness is found while reading it.

As for the rest, it's still following along parallel lines with all the other five and then going further into the future again, once those parallel lines finally fork off, as all of the books do. Including of course the Five Points books.

You can see though why you need to read the books in the universal order, as if you read either series alone, you'd become a little disoriented with the crossovers.

Any way this book is again just brilliant. Mac and Alessa's story is so sweet and it makes route for them. But the issues they have to deal with, you can't hope but want things to turn out for Alessa.

She's a sweet woman who has gone through such a horrendous experience. Branded as a sex slave. Tortured, raped, beaten, starved and worse. But most of the worse came from the Lancaster men!!

What's so hard to believe is the fact that this has happened to do many women, children and will continue to happen. The modern day slaves!! It's sickening to think that these sorts of things truly happen, but they do. Bringing it to light in these books are great, but heart breaking.

Between what's going on Alessa and the issues now that's come to light with Maverick, there's no wonder that they have been able to fall in love and become the support work for each others trauma's

It's beautiful in its own tormented way, as to how they finally find their way and forge their new path. But more importantly, how they finally become a happy and far healthier couple, because of everything they have to fight through to make it to their destination.

Trust me this book is one you'll want to read....

Any way I'm off to the Five Points now lol 😂😂
