About the author

David E Burke is an accomplished freelance writer. He lives with his wife in the Cotswolds. After a long career in advertising, he decided to turn his hand to writing detective stories. He is a big fan of thriller writers including Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler and Ian Fleming.
The island of Menorca, where he and his wife lived for 4 years, became the inspiration for his Frank Harmer detective books. Blue Murder was the first to be published in 2017 and The Fiesta Murders, his most accomplished work so far, was published in August 2020.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gut zu lesen
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseDer beste der drei Romane!
Könnte etwas mehr die menorquinische Landschaft einbeziehen, aber ganz netter Plot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for containment !
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA good story, easy to read. Well written and totally understandable for an english learner. The plot is not really complicated and the novel is short. Too short for me but I enjoyed folllowing this retired english cop in the Canaries Islands.

2.0 out of 5 stars good setting but needs plot development
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA very short novella - less than an hour's read.
Place is nicely described. Characters are starting to be developed (though why a detective on Minorca should have detailed knowledge of the career of a DCI in the Met completely escaped me.)
The plot was totally linear. No sub-plots. No challenge to guess whodunnit.
I'll try novel 2 to see if there is improvement, but lots of work needed to turn this into a decent "crime in a specific place" novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very easy read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI stumbled across David's books through Facebook. As an avid fan of Menorca and reading it was a no brainer. This book was quick, fun and easy to read. His references to Menorca just perfect, bringing back a lot of memories. The storyline, although predictable was very easy to follow, the characters very believable and the writing very well done. A cross between a murderer mystery and comedy.
