Coming Home to Merriment Bay: the complete four-part serial in one book. Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,003 ratings

This novel was originally a four-part, serial. This is all four parts and forms Book 1 in the Merriment Bay series. If you have read the four-part serial, you have read this book.

Cat Devon left Merriment Bay eighteen years ago with her baby daughter, Kyra. Now a letter from Cat’s estranged mum has brought them back.

Cat has tried to forget her heartbreaking past and forgive her mum, Mary and her gran, Viola. But nothing seems to have changed and Mary still insists on keeping secrets.

Sitting beside Viola’s hospital bed, isn’t exactly fun, so when Cat and Kyra stumble on a faded photo of an RAF pilot and a pile of unopened letters in a trunk in Viola’s room, they decide to find out who he is and what he meant to Viola.

Amias Wells, who owns Bay Water Sports but also flies a vintage Spitfire for the Merriment Bay WWII Museum, is the perfect man to ask. Except Cat and Amias haven’t spoken since the accident that killed his friend and left Cat scarred, eighteen years ago. Sparks fly when they meet again.

But Amias traces Bailey Mitchell, who lives thousands of miles away and is almost ninety-eight. Exchanging Christmas cards leads to revelations Cat had not expected. Then a surprise visitor means Cat’s Christmas takes a delightful turn. Now she’s facing choices she never thought she’d have to make.

When distressing events end more than one person’s dream, Cat realises what – and who – she wants. As Merriment Bay prepares to toast in the New Year, can Cat finally put the past where it belongs and find the love she deserves?

This is the complete book of Coming Home to Merriment Bay, which is also sold in four parts: Part One: A Reunion. Part Two: Sparks Fly. Part Three: Christmas. Part Four: Starry Skies. If you have read the four parts then you have read this book.

Emily writes novels, novellas and short stories about friendship, family, the things life throws at us, and falling in love. She loves a happy ending but knows that life doesn't always go to plan. Her stories are sure to bring a smile to your face and a warmth to your heart. She is a full member of the Society of Authors and since her first book was published in 2012, several of her books have been best sellers.

Emily lives in East Sussex, UK, minutes from the sea in a town called Hastings - famous for the Battle of 1066. The stunning surrounding countryside and quaint English villages often appear in her books. Emily lives with her rescue cat, Portia, and when she's not writing, she loves to read, cook, drink (too much) wine with her friends, and potter in the garden of the house she's recently bought. She also loves skiing, adores frolicking in the snow, and is a self-confessed lover of Christmas - which can't start too early, in her opinion.

Emily loves to connect with her readers and has a readers' group in which many have become good friends. To catch up with Emily, or find out about the group, visit https://www.emilyharvale.com or connect with her on social media: https://www.facebook.com/emilyharvalewriter

This family of Devon women can throw you for a loop. Especially Cat! She can't seem to figure out who her belongs to.And Ania's is just as troubled. After what happened with Grandma Viola and Bailey dying, it wakes the lovebirds up to what needs to happen before too much time passes.

I enjoyed the book but lost interest a few times. It was too long and repetitive. Looking forward to the next one.

I have just finished the first book in this series, which I started after I’d completed all the Wynter House books. Although I knew how this story played out in that series, I nonetheless found the twists and turns in this book made it an enjoying read.

I actually waited to buy this book as a whole instead of reading the 4 parts and I'm really pleased that I did. Where do I start, this book is full of family history, family secrets and the thing that Emily does best... A lovely heartwarming love story. I love the way the book ties into The Wynter storyline too and I am really looking forward to revisiting the characters within the two storylines. Emily has this fabulous way of making her readers feel so involved and invested in every one of her storylines... Thanks again Emily. I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!

I’ve read all of Emily’s books and I’ve loved them all. Coming Home to Merriment Bay (four episodes in one thick paperback) has references to Wyntersleap and there are going to be more books to come where the two stories merge. I can’t wait! I always read her books so fast. The characters are always believable and there is always a mix of good and bad, secrets, lies and twists. I absolutely loved this book and I’m sure you will too! A well deserved 5 stars, roll on the next one, I can’t wait, well done Emily!
