***

However, Kellan quickly proves himself to be an intelligent, and oh-so-attractive adversary, causing Beatrix to question everything she knows.
Can two people with such differing worldviews find common ground?
If they’re soulmates, it might just be possible.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019If you loved 1996, you're going to love this one! If you enjoy a bit of whimsy or magical realism in your RomCom, check this one out! Ms. McManus manages to capture the (secretly hopeful) skepticism portrayed by stem cell scientific rep Bea, and the rakish charm, yet possibly reforming Kellan Gallo. Gallant Gallo, he definitely is!
The characters are absolutely captivating and a delightful, quick, fun read. Full of plenty of heart and a few touching moments, this book will definitely have you questioning the definition of a soulmate...and if you're with "The ONE." A 5 Stars Read!!!
One caveat: The book may seem a little slow about a third of the way in, but keep with it--it's so worth it!!!
A keeper & a re-read! Now, back to re-reading 1996! Enjoy!!!

Fun read
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2020Kellan is not a mind reader. He can 'see' images of a person's soul mate. Kellan was an interesting person. He wasn't perfect but he has a gift and was using to his advantage. My biggest problem was Beatrix constant judgy of the Kellan. She even had inner dialogue and thoughts that she was being to hard on him and over judging the situation but doesn't she stop? No! Her character growth wasn't there. I was expecting her to start realizing her character flaw and work on being a better person. But she didn't and by the time she started to do so, it was too late. I was hating her and thought Kellan could do so much better than her.
Kellan wasn't perfect and had flaws but he did start to grow. When he started working as in intern for Beatrix, he started to become interested in the work, wanting to learn more and expand his knowledge. He started to realize also some of his past mistakes. He grew and became even more likeable.
And finally, the title is completely wrong. Mind Reader has NOTHING to do with this book. It isn't Kellan's gift. I don't know where the author came up with the title?
I giving this 3 stars because Kellan was the truly best character and I dislike giving below 3 stars to reviews. It was an interesting book but I would only read it as KU book. Not worth the purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2022I love the struggle of the two main characters as they disagree over "mind reading" being a possibility or not. The science and the mythical battle was good as we see the main lady struggle with preconceived notions. I enjoyed this book very much - a fast read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2020This is a light romance with interesting characters. The concept of a guy who can determine who is and the time frame to meet your true love is a bit out there, but the concept is fun.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2020This sounded like a cute summer read, and it was that. But it was also more. The characters were real to me. It didn't seem at all formulaic, which so many books are these days. Plus, I absolutely hate poor editing and spelling, and I didn't notice any mistakes. I highly recommend this. I got it for free because it was a special on BookBub, but I liked it so much that I am paying for another one of McManus' books!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2020I love nerdy, intelligent heroines. When I heard through booktube that this book had that and a soulmate matching hero, I was intrigued enough to pick up this book. I really wanted to love the heroine but sadly I didn't. She was so rude to Kellan after he had been really nice and helpful to her. I get why she would be sceptical both with her logical, science focused mind and with her previous experiences but she could not believe in what he did and still treated him better. Kellan I liked well enough after his character had an inexplicable personality change after chapter 2 or 3. I guess the biggest issue is that while the book was pleasant and the idea was interesting, I didn't completely connect with either main character.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2021I love happy endings. It was a quick read with great characters and had a happy ending. I will definitely read more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Total Pageturner
From the start, this book had me giggling to myself. I have so enjoyed every page. I loved scientists Beatrice and Charlie and, of course, how could I not adore Kellan. The pages basically turned over themselves as they were sizzling (in a nice way of course)😉😉
This is the second laugh out loud book I've read of Kirsty McManus and both books were written so well; fun also
Well done Kirsty 👏👏

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book!
How can you not love a book about soul mates?! This is a slow burn romance as it takes Bea a while to warm up to Kellan and the whole idea of soulmates. But Kellan, oh boy, he’s just gorgeous. Warm, caring, and slightly sinful, I kept wanting Bea to just love him already! But it was totally worth the wait. I’d love to read more about Bea’s bestie, Charlie, and how she met her soulmate. I’m sure there’s a story there, and I’d read it in a heartbeat. Loved this book, looking forward to Kirsty McManus’s next one.

3.0 out of 5 stars No Need to Reread
When I first started reading this book, I was rather disgusted with Kellan's promiscuous ways; I accept that sexual encounters are often depicted as prolific and indiscriminate, but it took a while for me to warm up to the H. Ultimately the story was alright, but does not warrant keeping on my shelf to be reread.
