This book kept me guessing and I loved it! . Alta aka Birdie is a Park Ranger. An animal lover through and through, she has her trained dog Benny by her side. . Cas is a officer with the United States Park Police. He is a broody and quiet Alpha, but he is lethal. . Former Marine Cas Mathews has one objective - catch the serial killer terrorizing the Rocky Mountain National Park. That's until he meets Ranger Alta Johnson. Since she was first on the crime scene of a missing woman, she helps to collaborate on the case. Alta's natural beauty catches his immediate attention, but the strength behind her fierce gaze is what holds him captive - demanding he learns more about her. The instant connection and attraction Birdie feels towards Cas isn't normal. Due to her past trauma she sticks to her routine and avoids personal relationships, keeping her focus on her job. Cas can't help but feel protective over Birdie. My heart broke for Birdie, but Cas was just what she needed. I was on the edge of my seat dying to know what would happen next. The steam, the suspense and action kept me turning the pages. I was completely captivated by these two beautifully broken souls. ⁣Cas' partner, FBI Profiler Chandler Peters was such an intriguing secondary character.     If you like a story full of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat then this book is for you. I did not want to put this book down once I started reading it. It was so good. I absolutely loved Birdie she was such a fantastic character. She may have been put through h*ll in the past but she wouldn't let it keep her down. I loved Cas, he may have a lot of demons from his past and felt he was too broken to have any good in his life but that didn't keep him from being one heck of a protector. When Birdie and Cas meet they find something in each other that slowly heals the other. When Birdie is kidnapped by the serial killer Cas will do anything to get her back and keep her safe but can he find her time. All of the characters in this story are awesome. I absolutely freaking loved Benny. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next book.

Lady sees the darkness in Cas but she also sees his protective side which she loves. Together along with Chandler they will find those missing women and the people who took them. Cas and Lady will develop a beautiful relationship and each will help the other heal. This is a first time read for me by this author and I have enjoyed her writing style.     The main reason why I chose to even read this book was because the front page illustration/picture was making me laugh. I will say that I was surprised by how much I got into the book and the members who were involved in these murder cases. There were certain areas that I thought had surprisingly good detail and did highlight major reasons for some of their actions. But I did think there could have been some more info added about the aftermath of how the other victims family members felt about the loss of their loved ones. This was a decent book that passed my time during this cold weather, but I’m not sure if I will continue this series.

    This isn't my usual genre but I decided to take a chance. Its actually a story about damaged people and how they find each other. One one side are damaged people who turn their anger and hatred towards others and the other side are damaged people who work at protecting others from them. The setting is a US forest and we have a mixture of FBI Behavioral Analyst, A Dept of Interior officer, and several Park rangers all involved in finding the person who has been abducting women who they haven't found.
    The back stories for most of the characters are full of horrible situations - abusive foster homes, PTSD from serving in wartime in the Marines among other situations. I did shed a few tears reading of those violent stories though but they were an integral part of the story.
    I'm looking forward to reading more from this writer!

It grabbed me from the very beginning, and I spent every free moment I had trying to finish it. The instalove between these 2 characters was amazing, and I love how they came together and healed each other. Then the way Chandler took kind of a brother mode for both characters was adorable. I loved it when he would rile Cas up about her and I can't wait to read his story.
