From the Author

From Mirror Obscure...

Richard joined her a few moments later. "So I was thinking..." He was fussing with his wallet, but he finally put it in his pocket. "We should— I mean, if you'd like to—"

Oh God, he was asking her out and it was the worst possible timing in the world. Six months pregnant. Parents living with her. And a disappearing murder victim thrown on top of that.

"—I'd love to take you to lunch sometime," he finished. "Since our offices are so close."
He was nervous and it was adorable. Vivian wanted to say yes so badly.

Say yes.

Vivian fell silent as the full blown argument in her head raged.

Are you joking?
You were going to ask him out months ago.
That was before All The Things.

"That is" —Richard glanced at her belly again— "if you're single. I shouldn't assume."

"I'm single." Vivian just couldn't decide which mental voice to listen to. "And I really want to say yes because you seem great."

He smiled, and she could feel his natural confidence return. "So say yes."

Is a much MUCH better read. The author found her stride in this sequel. The tone and pacing are more consistent. The characters are quirky, endearing, and adjusting to life changes, including acquisition of psychic abilities aiding in navigating solving murders. There is a lot of normal and realistic circumstances which provide a strong counterbalance to the strange. Lots of funny moments that fit naturally into story without causing dissonance given the seriousness of murder. Story contains eminently likeable characters. The two precocious teens and pet alpaca from book one appear with accurate prediction/dubbing of a murder club. I'm really hoping that they have their own book or books, they are very charming and intriguing in their brief appearances. Book 2 really motivates a desire to see what happens NEXT in Book 3. Thankfully, it's already out!

Vista de Lirio just might be becoming my favorite of Elizabeth Hunter’s PWF series. With more of the quirky, slightly dark charm that made me so love its predecessor, Mirror Obscure is another tale of intrigue, murder, and humorous light mayhem (with a little romance for extra fun).

Vivian Wei has a lot on her plate: she’s six months pregnant, her parents might be turning their visit into a permanent residence in her home, she’s still got to get a handle on her new psychic powers, she’s short one assistant at her dental practice, and her mother *might* have witnessed a brutal murder more or less in their backyard. The only problem? Despite her mother’s certainty, there’s no evidence of a crime.

I absolutely loved the plot twists in this story. Vivian, Julia and Evy have a LOT to uncover, and each new reveal sent me into a whole new spiral of guessing. It’s a great mystery, and I loved watching the story unfold from the perspective of a very pregnant heroine, who’s save-the-day actions must now accommodate challenges like frequent bathroom breaks and difficulty fitting in cars. I also really enjoyed her relationship developments; there was something deeply sweet about how the story events impacted her relationship with both her parents, and with Richard. (Honestly, no one writes characters and human connections quite like EH does!)

I’m so happy to have had the chance to read an early copy of this book, and can’t wait for the sequel!

I absolutely adore Elizabeth Hunter's writing style and character development. I keep coming back to her books over and over again, sometimes re-reading ones I have read before just because I love the characters so much. The Vista De Lirio series will definitely become one of the ones that I could come back to over and over. Mirror Obscure did not disappoint at all. This book was funny, romantic, and an all around good time with a nice twist of murder mystery to top it off. I would recommend this book (and all of Elizabeth Hunter's books) to anyone who is looking for a fun, healthy escape from reality that wraps everything up in a nice bow and leaves you feeling good by the end of the book.

Mirror Obscure, book 2 of Elizabeth Hunter's Vista De Lirio Mysteries series, is everything I have come to expect from Hunter's brilliant imagination! Mirror Obscure is full of witty characters both human and animal, as well as intense mystery and lots of romance. But perhaps the most wonderful aspect of this series is that it is written for women, such as myself , who have reached a certain age and experience and crave a heroine that mature enough they can relate to. If you have tired of rom-coms filled with 20 something heroines out to "find themselves" then you will love Elizabeth Hunter's Vista De Lirio series.

Elizabeth has outdone herself in creating the wonderful wacky neighborhood in Palm Desert of Vista De Lirio, filled with movie producers, actors and professional middle age women. The hub of the story centers around the weekly party at Sergio and Dean's house in Vista De Lirio, where the most eccentric group of people come to meet! Elizabeth's characters are hilarious and her three unlikely heroines are the most entertaining of all of them!

Book 2, Mirror Obscure continues to explore the antics that occur with Julia, Vivian and EV newly acquired paranormal abilities. Though this book focuses mostly on single but pregnant Vivian Wei, her two friends are always close at hand.

Elizabeth has always had a way with creating relatable characters, but I was pleasantly surprised to become so enamoured with Vivian! Single, 40 and pregnant by artificial insemination, exploring an unexpected romance while solving a murder mystery, Vivian is both fascinating and witty! And as real as my own next door neighbors! Elizabeth captures the many facets of this heroine and through exceptional word craft brings her alive! It is as always a masterful work of art.

The descriptions of the neighborhood of Vista De Lirio are so vivid that I find myself driving around the area looking for it. I am ready to sell my Marriott property and move to Vista De Lirio instead. Could I please get an invitation to Dean and Serbia's Sunday dinners? They make my family's weekly get togethers look tame in comparison!

I have never laughed as long and as hard as I did reading this contemporary masterpiece . The mystery and suspense were so well done I was hooked from page 1 and unable to put it down losing much needed sleep! Then I cried as I realized I finished it so quickly I would have a long were until book 3 is available. No problem as I will as always pre-order as soon as the offer is available. Elizabeth Hunter belongs on every readers Must Read shelf.

Keep writing Elizabeth and I your loyal fan will keep buying and reading every thing you write! Congratulations on another sure bestseller!

Psychics make the world go 'round, or at least if they could get their gifts under control it might....

I love this series as I see 3 women coming to terms with life changes, lots of love in new friendships and old and trying to help ghostly victims solve their murders while preventing more.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series that's coming out next month!!

Absolutely great second story. If Elizabeth writes it it will certainly be a great book.
As usual the Vivian starts the story with her mother waking her at 3am with a story of someone being murdered on the golf course. Even though they get the police involved no evidence is found.
The three of them start looking into it and even though Vivian if fairly pregnant nothing will stop them. Vivian starts dating Richard and as usual everyone they know is getting in on the action. Loved both stories can’t wait for book 3!!!
