Missed Connection (A Gia, San Francisco Romance Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 734 ratings

Avery Dimaano is good at most things. No, she’s better. She has amazing friends, a family that’s only slightly more dysfunctional than others, and an affable way of strutting through the world that makes her the quintessential person for the role of HR at Gia, San Francisco. There’s only one problem, she has no one to spend her weekends with.

Travel influencer Ky Logan doesn’t play by anyone else’s rules. Her life of jet-hopping across the world is the envy of two million followers, even if her family doesn’t exactly approve. It’s a simple, adventurous existence with no one to answer to but herself.

Six months after her trip to Sydney, Ky still can’t stop thinking about the woman she sat next to on the plane. Avery. Beautiful, clever,
straight Avery. When a leak in Avery’s apartment leads them to share a bed for two weeks, lines inevitably become blurred, especially after the kiss they shared in San Francisco International.

Maybe Ky is the person Avery has been waiting for, even if she’s never considered being with a woman. But is Ky’s time with Avery just another one of her vacations?

Stephanie Shea is a best-selling contemporary romance author and recovering perfectionist. Her favorite things include bingeing TV shows, and creating worlds where diversity is standard, competency is sexy, and no character is too queer, broken, or sensitive. Then, there’s the wanderlust.

She lives in Mexico City, where she's probably fixating on her next book, stumbling through Spanish phrases, and grabbing a michelada every chance she gets.

A chance meeting, as seat mates on a long flight from Australia to San Francisco that resulted in a kiss, brought Avery and Kyla together. A great follow-up to Chef's Kiss. It's a well-crafted, feel-good story with interesting, lovable, layered characters and a honey of a supporting character in Brady. Now that friend is a hoot! And Whitney, well she's worth her own story! Another winner from Stephanie Shea!

What a wonderful story and continuance to this series. Both of the main characters are well developed and the storyline had me hooked from the beginning. There’s of course lots of first between the two and I like the way the author brought them together. There’s plenty of romance, some steamy sexy time 🔥, and of course some angst. You of course see characters from the first book and our introduced to new ones. (I have my fingers crossed the next book is Whitney’s story.) Either way this is a nice romance with heart! Definitely recommend the series and look forward to what this author puts out next. ⭐️

Kudo to the author for creating a nice follow up to Chef's Kiss. I think the characters Avery & Kyla were complex enough to carry this story on their own. Albeit supporting cast members are good but sometimes less us more. I confess, I loved Avery even in the first book but in this one we really learn (and word-feel) how incredibly hot & sexy this enigmatic woman is. Kyla, you lucky dog. Lol Fam, I'm green lighting this book also. Happy Reading

Avery and Ky shared a 14 hour flight from Sydney to San Francisco in December. That flight changed both of their lives. Avery couldn’t stop thinking about Ky and Ky couldn’t stop thinking about Avery. Their connection instant and then gone.

This story is another amazing Stephanie Shea book. She has a way of making the characters raw and vulnerable. They are so real and you root for them to fight through the rough patches and make the relationship work. Read this book and the rest of her books now!

I was thrilled to know Avery would be getting her own storyline, from her intro in Chef's Kiss I wanted to know more about the Dimaano twins. This book served it! I love when author's link movies and music and throw in the vices we don't always make known. The supporting characters were also a hoot! I love me some Brady!

The chemistry between the two main MCs is intoxicating and so dang good that I couldn't put the book down. The conflict is a little too typical and I didn't really feel like this book needed one because of the beginning angst and allure, but it doesn't take away from the story. Beautifully written and worth the read.

Meeting at an airport and having your first spark of romance right as you both leave is a fun inversion of arriving at the airport just in time to have your love interest not leave.
A fun read. Like the characters, like the expansion of the characters and setting from the last book, like how the romance evolves over time.
Sex is fairly frequent and fairly detailed but not quite up to naming some specific body parts (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Avery is recovering from a week of partying and drinking in Australia when she meets Kyla at the Sydney airport. Never had she been attracted to a woman but something was pulling them together. When Ky kissed her at the San Francisco airport she knew this was a prequel to more. A story of family, friends and love and healing. Great series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come Fly With Me

A follow on to ‘Chef’s Kiss’ this is the story of Avery whose trip to Australia to meet up with her boyfriend is thrown into turmoil when he dumps her mid flight.
Before her return journey home to the U.S she meets the stunning Kyla in the departure lounge and their seats on the long journey home are conveniently next to each other. They chat, getting friendlier and friendlier, and when they land in San Francisco before Kyla leaves to catch her connecting flight to LA she kisses Avery, who somewhat surprisingly as she’s always identified as straight, kisses Kyla back. End of story.
Only kidding, that’s just the meet/cute to the romance that follows, that’s full of unexpected twists, some drama, some conflict, the obligatory break up, and some really erotic and rather spicy encounters between the MCs.
The ‘straight girl finds true love at the hands of another woman’ storyline is probably my second favourite lesfic trope (age-gap being my first fav) so I really enjoyed this 2nd book in Stephanie’s excellent ‘Gia, San Francisco Romance’ book series. I’ll start book 3 immediately, once I’ve sent off this review

This is a great one from Stephanie Shea, i love the way she writes, she has a way to create characters and stories that feel so real and lovable. She’s thorough, and has a way to describe cities and places that will make you feel as if you were there. Missed Connection is funny, enjoyable, romantic with the right amount of angst and i believe she has an amazing ability to write steamy scenes and chemistry between her characters, you’ll fall in love with them too. I love and recommend all Stephanie Shea’s books.

This is a F/F RomCom. The two met in the departure lounge while getting coffees. One had a hangover and the other knew what was the best drink to get. Six months later they meet up again wondering if their meet cute was for real hoping it was but afraid that it wasn't.
