I have really come to look forward to the stories that Austin Bates' creates. I really like stories that feature folks who knew each other in the past and find their way back to one another and as they get back in touch find a love connection. Charlie and Eliot were best friends as children, lose track of one another when Charlie moves away and as adults they meet again when Charlie returns as a reporter. I like that as they work to solve a case and they move toward one another. I won't spoil it - give this a read.

Jobs can complicate relationships. Delightful second chance for childhood friends to become so much more. I really enjoyed Eliot and Charlie's story and how they reconnect. These MC's are both dedicated to their jobs and their is intrinsic mistrust between their careers. The plot created an interesting read that i really enjoyed.

Awesome story with lots of connection between the MC's. I liked how their relationship grew and how they worked together to solve the case.

This is a very upbeat and quick moving story with love as the lead and a kidnapping. Following all the leads Eliot keeps his head down and tries to keep peace between the police department and the news paper where Charlie works as a lead reporter. Follow all the leads and find out what happens next on their journey to love.

A cop meets a reporter he knew in school and they were great friends. The are both on the same case, a missing teen! Will their relationship stand the test of their professions?☺

I chose this 5 🌟 rating because as always Austin Bates delivers a great mpreg read. It had everything going for it, romance, intrigue and a great story line. Can't wait for more to come.

I really like the relationship between the cop and therapist for the department. I didn't like who the bad guy turned out to be though I figured it out. I'd love to find these characters in another story.

Eliot loves being a cop. He loves helping people any way he can. When he’s temporarily promoted to Detective to investigate a high profile missing persons case he jumps at the chance to finally show what he can do. However, during his investigation he comes face to face with a blast from his past...his childhood best friend.

Charlie is an investigative reporter. He loves what he does and is great at it. He’s assigned to report on the high profile missing persons case. The last thing he expected was to get arrested and the arresting cop turning out to be his childhood best friend Eliot.

Old sparks fly between the two but tensions also mount when Eliot learns that Charlie is a reporter. He strongly believes that all reporters are the enemy of cops. As reluctant as Eliot is in getting involved with Charlie there’s no denying their attraction. Even though they haven’t seen each other in years it’s like no time has past and yet at the same time they are learning each other again.

The chemistry between these two is palpable and their history makes it even more intense. I love friends to lovers books and this one was well done. I’d like to have had more of their story but overall I enjoyed the book.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I loved it. Eliot and Charlie were best friends growing up, when one day Charlie and his father just up and left and they lost contact with each other. Fist forward to present lieutenant Bryce sets out to find Eliot due to a missing persons case. Eliot was found outside smoking and giving a lot of grief for people putting cigarettes out on his building or the sign I can’t remember which at this point. Back inside in lieutenant Bryce’s office he searches for a file and when asked if he couldn’t find it he responds with being organized is for omegas in which Eliot responds with and people who know better. <— I could have left that out but I love a good come back.
Eliot took the file and the label read Slate Riddle. The Riddles were old-fashion philanthropists. Their money had roots that began deep in the 1800’s. Slate is the eldest son of Everett and Gertrude Riddle. It was rare to hear a first name as they were known by a singular quantifier. The Riddles. Due to the Riddles pretty much bank rolling the town their sons disappearance causes the police to start searching after only being missing for eight hours. Due to the outlaw gangs newest mishap Bryce knows the Riddles won’t be happy when they realizethe number of people looking for Slate has dropped by half so Bryce asked Eliot if he’d like a temporary promotion to detective and gave him the Slate case.

Charlie was called into work on his day off as he had nothing else to do this didn’t bother him. His boss Armand gave the Slate Riddle piece to Charlie. To his shock as he only been with the paper for a few months, after returning home after a long absence. Charlie was given seven hours to turn in a draft for the piece. During his sophomore year his dad fell ill and they were forced to move to Wisconsin to stay with his grandparents. A few months later his dad passed and CPS decided his grandparents weren’t capable to act as guardians. Charlie lived with eight different families and went to five different high schools by the time he graduated. After graduation he had to balance college and taking care of the grandparents that CPS decided weren’t able to take care of him. They passed a year ago and now Charlie was back home in Arizona for good.
After he interviewed Gertrude he followed his leads to a brothel. While sitting in one of the back rooms Eliot is outed as a cop by another cop and everyone starts to leave when one of the omegas from the bedrooms runs out and asks if it’s a shooter. Everyone panics and tries to leave but Eliot gets the two men he’s looking for along with Charlie.

Needless to say this book was a good book packed with action and some steamy scenes as well. Enjoy!
