When secrets are revealed and a family agenda works against him, can Fitzwilliam Darcy recover his damaged spirits and find happiness?

Following his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to London from Kent, broken-hearted and dejected. One bright spot penetrates his sea of despair: his sister, Georgiana, has finally recovered her spirits from the grievous events at Ramsgate the previous summer. She has forged a new friendship with Miss Hester Drake, a lady who appears to be an ideal friend. In fact, Lady Matlock believes Miss Drake is Darcy’s perfect match.

Upon Elizabeth’s arrival at the Gardiners’ home from Kent, she finds that her sister Jane remains despondent over her abandonment by Mr. Bingley. But Elizabeth has information that might bring them together. She convinces her uncle Gardiner to write a letter to Mr. Bingley, providing key facts supplied to her by Mr. Darcy.

When Bingley discovers that his friend and sisters colluded to keep Jane’s presence in London from him, how will he respond? Given the chance, will Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth overcome their past misunderstandings? What will Darcy do when his beloved sister becomes a hindrance towards winning the lady he loves?

A fun and delightful read!
5 out of 5 stars
A fun and delightful read!
This is the third Austen variation that I have read from this author, and I found it just as enjoyable as the others. Kelly Miller has a real sense of the characters without trying to be Jane Austen herself, a pitfall I have found with other Austen authors. The story begins at the point where Darcy has proposed and been rejected by Elizabeth. He, of course, is broken-hearted as is to be expected but Ms. Miller also describes in more detail the remorse felt by Elizabeth in her handling of the refusal. The two meet again in London and the reader is taken through the ups and downs of their reestablished courtship. We know what’s going to happen in the end, but it is still fun to read how they get there. Ms. Miller gives us a few added characters and the dreadful Hester Drake, who we hope gets her due punishment in the end. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was a delight to read.

This fast-paced Pride and Prejudice variation swept me away in just over a day. Set after Darcy’s disastrous proposal, the story hurtles through twists and emotional turmoil, revealing a vulnerable, self-reflective Darcy like never before. Miller’s sharp writing and rich details make every moment pulse with tension and heart. If you crave suspense and intensity wrapped in Austen charm, don’t miss this!

I liked many aspects of the story in this variation but I'd have to say that my favorite part is how Charles is made to be quite intuitive and spares the reader much consternation by getting the ODC ball rolling fairly quickly. That was a welcome surprise and a pleasure to read.

From the description, I knew the shoe would soon drop though and I read in dread of it. I didn't find Hester Drake, a girl Darcy barely knew, to be a very plausible vehicle for angst. This veritable stranger was able to wreak havoc far too easily with Georgiana. Her presence did eventually elicit some very good character driven dialogue between Darcy and Elizabeth but in the end the HEA took a backseat to the drama that led to it. It's really disappointing when the culmination of a story is almost tacked on at the end as a footnote.

Also, the fact that this all takes place over the course of 3 weeks is quite unbelievable. I got to 90% and realized only two weeks had passed. That made Elizabeth's change of heart seem forced. Her feelings also apparently turned on a dime with the simple inducement of pastries.

A rollercoaster of events happened after the weeks following Mr Darcy’s disastrous proposal in Kent. The story is not only a variation but sometimes serves as a ‘behind the scene’ kind of function for me and I really enjoyed the details the author put into each and every conversation and description.

Ms. Miller’s type of writing caught my eye first by its rapid pace and this is not an exception. Although the main story happened in two weeks’ time only, the fullness of events and the volatility of everyone’s emotions and change of sentiment and perspective had gone through so much, and led us reader together through this turmoil of unsettledness.

It is also remarkable to read when Darcy recognised his vulnerability and insecurity and even also lack of confidence, as well as the reason and the origin of these weaknesses, in the face of his love for Elizabeth.

On a side note, I love the introduction of the new character, Viscount Berkeley. No spoilers from me here. So check out for yourself! Recommended.

Oh how i wanted to shake Georgiana and Hester Drake!! This book became a page turner about 80% in. I enjoyed the plot. I was a bit disappointed with Darcy and his jealous fits but I guess it adds to the angst.

    I highly recommend

Mr. Darcy's Perfect Match begins around the midpoint of the original novel. Immediately, readers are placed in the middle of action. Right away, I was immersed in the story, caught up in the tension between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. Miller does a wonderful job with the language and details of the time period.

I particularly like how the author developed and fleshed out secondary characters, giving readers a chance to see them grow and develop. Without including spoilers, it was fun to read alternative outcomes for some characters and experience a focus on other relationships that readers only get a glimpse of in the original. It was nice to envision the characters in different settings in Miller's variation, too.

I enjoy Jane Austen's books and Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorites! I'm always interested in variations told through books and on screen, especially the 1995 film. As I read the story, I pictured Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Now I'm definitely looking forward to reading more by Kelly Miller!

I liked the amount and quality of interact between Elizabeth and Darcy, I liked that they talked about their feelings—they didn’t allow misunderstandings to stand for long. The pacing was excellent, and the storyline was engaging. Georgiana’s doubts and conflicted feelings made sense given her past. Hester was a good character—like a more competent and devious Miss Bingley.

Probably the least believable part was Wickham’s change of heart—it was explained, and while a good explanation, it still didn’t feel right. I’m not sure if it was too sudden or if it was too complete a change or what. The dream sequence didn’t work for me, either. The epilogue felt perfunctory which unfortunately made my final impression of the story a little disappointing.
Editing was quite good, however the misuse of “begging the question” was annoying.

The Perfect Match was a entertaining twist on what led up to Mr. Darcy's final proposal to Elizabeth Bennett.
We will see his sister Georgiana play a more pivotal role in the angst the couple must overcome plus old and new characters that add to the complexity of their courtship.

Ms. Miller offers an intriguing alternative to tale of the iconic couple trials. While it is diverges from Jane Austen's own conclusion I found that it offered an more interesting and satisfying ending than Ms. Austen's rather abrupt conclusion found in Pride and Prejudice.
If you are interested in exploring a taunting tale of attempts to thwarted the couple's happiness then you will want to take a look at the Perfect Match.

Mr. Darcy's perfect match was such a catchy read that I couldn't put the book down until my kindle needed charging!

A slow beginning of the book puts you in perfect environment of 18th century. Soon the story takes off, and the authors unique style, pace of the plot and the depth of the characters take you on a ride.

A fabulous read I enjoyed several aspects I wanted see in the original P&P. Darcy we all know improves, but he has lot of learn and so does Elizabeth. I really enjoyed the increasing chemistry between the two characters. There is more focus on other characters, and this really makes the story interesting.

One of my favourite aspects is the story's focus on Georgina, Darcy's sister. Her emotions, her love for her brother and her insecurities are revealed fantastically and how she is drawn in an evil plot to break up Darcy and Elizabeth. Will she finally see the truth or again make mistakes that she will regret later?

I think no one should miss this one!

Mr Darcy's Perfect Match made a day of self-isolation (coronavius precaution) pass very pleasantly. The plot, the characters and the excellent writing made this book a pleasure to read. In this story, Darcy and Elizabeth's path to a perfect understanding of each other is plagued by the self-serving machinations of an utterly unscrupulous young lady of the ton who befriends Georgiana Darcy, and whose outward behaviour and friendliness disguise a manipulative and treacherous heart. She is determined to become Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy at any cost. 😈
Be prepared for a very different George Wickham. 😯

Very enjoyable read and well-written page turner. There is a bit of angst, but for this reader, who stresses out with too much of it, this book didn’t do that—just enough to keep it very interesting. I loved that Bingley got to play a key role. Wickham is a surprise. A new character seemed a female Wickham with able to deceive verbal charm. There is one unfortunate proofreading error that refers to Darcy’s mother, but I believe it should have been his aunt? I highly recommend this book.
