D E McCluskey was born in 1973, in Liverpool, England. He is the author of novels, graphic novels and comics. He lives with his daughter (an author in her own right (at the age of 8) with her children's adventure The Hangry Hamster), his partner, her daughter, and a sausage dog called Ted.

He began writing in 2011, creating his first comic publication entitled Interesting Tymes, an anthology of short horror stories written in rhyme for children and adults. This was quickly followed by the second in the series, along with a spin off. Dave then moved on to more adult related fiction, releasing a number of one-shot comics, followed by his first, full length book, the graphic novel, Doppelgänger.

More graphic novels and comics ensued, including a collaboration with artist Joe Matthews to produce a retelling of the classic Christmas tale, A Christmas Carol, only this time rewritten completely in rhyme.

Dave then turned his sights onto writing novels. His debut novel The Twelve was released in 2017 to great reviews. This was followed by a collaboration with a local, Liverpool music historian, to produce a historical thriller called In The Mood… For Murder, based in Liverpool in 1946.

Dave likes to work mostly in dark, or mainstream horror, although he has cross genres into extreme horror, comedy, thrillers, romantic drama, and children's books.

He is also working with a number of other authors/comic creators, in collaborations in their works.

Mutant Superhero Zombie Killing Disco Cheerleaders from Outer Space with Uzi’s is exactly as it sounds. A wild gorey ride of horror sci fi surrealness with some comedy sprinkled in. And it is set in the 1970s. A B movie of a book. I loved it. While it is a complete story, I can see it being added on to.

In this cheesy, yet well written thrill fest, a high school dance is threatened by, you guessed it, zombies! The event starts like any other gig fir the group then slowly turns to horror as these purple lights start popping up seemingly without cause. The lights have reanimated the dead and they are biting and infecting others! Soon there is no escaping the thousands of zombies attacking every living thing hunting for brains!
The cheerleaders, who have become late due to a hair and makeup crisis, are besieged by what can not be described as a supernatural event! They are transformed into mutants and given gifts and a purpose! Their purpose: to protect the world from the zombies and they are given Zena warrior princess style gifts and skills to do so!
The thrills and cheese turned up to 11 in this classic b-rated zombie horror tale is epic and falls within the realm of Sharknado in terms of cheese. So buckle up and get ready for cheese!

First off, let's address the elephant in the room. That is a hell of a title, an absolutely bonkers and brilliant one at that! Immediately tied for first place as my favorite title of a book I've read this year.

It was about thirty or so pages into this book that I realized exactly what I should have expected from a book with that title (I'm a bit dense, don't judge). This book was just pure, unadulterated FUN! And you get what's labeled on the tin with this one. And a bit of a running gag with said title.

Speaking of humor, it's taken me a while to properly pin down what makes British humor so much more engrossing and engaging than typical American humor. The same snarkiness with Monty Python, the similar dry and acerbic wit as Blackadder, and the bombastic flair as the Cornetto Trilogy are all rolled into one conglomeration of action, humor, and a good touch of horror. This third tale I've read from Mr. McCluskey just proves to me that his talent for word-play, alliteration, and all-out fun is second-to-none.

As a comic fan, I know how zany and wackadoo things can get. And as a proponent of grindhouse cinema, I know that schlocky-er usually means better. May I present to you one such piece that takes all the elements listed above, and presents one of the wildest and most enjoyable reads I have devoured this year.

What happens when a small town in Arkansas gets overrun by zombies? Easy answer: you get the Mutant Superhero Zombie Killing Disco Cheerleaders from Outer Space (with Uzis) to save the day!

Completely recommend, especially to my fellow B-horror movie and comic nerds. God, I had so much fun with this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Hell of a Wild Ride

I read this through Kindle Unlimited. What a wild ride. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. A great throwback to the b-movies of yesteryear.

D E McCluskey has a way with words and a flair for the horrific that mesh well. If you want to read a fast-paced story with an eclectic mix of great characters and non-stop, over-the-top action, then this is the book or you. There's also a great comedic undercurrent that had me chuckling at several inappropriate moments.

Not the usual sub genre that I would reach for but I love other books by this author so thought I'd give it a go. It was a quirky little read, had some good extreme horror elements, and supernatural vibes just a great bit of fun to pass the time!

The title and the cover are worth buying this for.
This was tons of fun. This took me back to staying up late watching 80's B movies on a Saturday night. It was trashy, funny and gory and I read it in one sitting.
