My Arrogant Boss: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (West Coast Billionaire Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 80 ratings

The guy I hate the most is now my new boss…

Finn Weston is CEO of one of the hottest companies around and he’s every girls’ dream guy—every girl except me.

Ever since the day I tossed my champagne in his face at my best friend’s party, we’ve never gotten along. But, hey, it wasn’t like he didn’t deserve it.

After losing my job and being left with no choice but to find another, I came to the awful realization that my new position was to work for the infamous jerk, Finn.

I’ve despised this guy for months, even though he has the body of a god and a smile to die for—and, sure, he’s really easy on the eyes and there are moments when I want to climb him like a tree—but still, I loathe everything about him.

Finn has made it his mission to show me who’s really in charge, but in doing so we’re left with no choice but to get closer. And one night in a hotel is all it takes for my irritatingly hot boss to not seem so irritating to me anymore…

Short and steamy enemies to lovers, office romance
Rachel and Finn despise one another though they “try” to get along for their friends (his best friend and her best friend are getting married), but it’s HARD. While they are always getting under one another’s skin, there is still that definite pull of attraction, but the hatred is stronger.Months later, Rachel is in the midst of a job search. When she starts her new job as a PA, she is stunned and stops in her tracks because her new boss is none other than Finn…Everything takes a major turn when a truce is agreed upon and the two actually start to get along. But the past comes back to buy them just as they start to get to a really good place. This was short, but still had enough of a story that I didn’t feel like I was missing a bunch of information. And the push and pull between Rachel and Finn was pretty hot.

This is the 1st in a new series and is Finn and Rachel’s story. These two are like petrol and a match, and when they are at a party for their friends’ engagement party, Rachel throws a glass of champagne in his face. Finn is the CEO of a successful company, and when Rachel loses her job, she has no choice but to work as his assistance, and they mutually agree to make amends and start getting along together. These two dances around their feeling for each other until the chemistry between them is undeniable, and they realize there is a fine line between hate/ love. This is a well written story which is light-hearted, and with emotions, animosity, trust, drama, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I liked this book well enough. It had everything you could want in a good romance with fun back and forth between the MC’s and an intriguing plot. But the book is so short that occasionally it felt rushed. Which I felt effected the depth of the characters and the storyline.
Overall I felt like the characters were jumping from one state of being to the other rather than flowing seamlessly. That said if you’re looking for a cute, funny, light romance that you can read in a couple of hours this is the book for you. I did enjoy King’s writing and will be exploring her other books while I wait for the next one in the series.

What a fun quick read this was! Finn is a business man who loves what he does. When his best friend gets married he is more than happy to be his best man. Rachel hates the best man in her best friends wedding. These two can not get along at all. When Rachel needs a new job and finds one the last thing she was expecting was that Finn would be her new boss. Wow did these two turn hate into lust pretty quickly. Not only did they have great chemistry but they had great quick banter that had me laughing. I really Enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

"My Arrogant Boss" was a fast-paced, steamy novella featuring an enemies-to-lovers romance between billionaire coffee company CEO Finn Weston and Rachel Quinn, a recently unemployed publicist who became Finn's new executive assistant. Work wasn't the only connection between them; they'd actually met months earlier when their respective best friends Aaron and Katie got engaged and asked Finn and Rachel to be part of the wedding party. They'd been enemies ever since that disastrous first meeting, and when she first learned the identity of her new employer, Rachel was convinced that they could never work together. However, her desperation for a paycheck took precedence over all other considerations, so she was forced to give it a try.

The beginning of the story was cute and funny, and I enjoyed the obvious chemistry between Rachel and Finn as well as the fact that Rachel tried so hard to push control freak Finn out of his comfort zone. As the story progressed, however, I started to wish that Rachel and Finn's characters were a bit better developed. For example, why exactly was Finn such a control freak? Also, did Rachel grow up in Los Angeles and is that why she decided to move back there after she lost her job in New York? Where was her family, particularly her parents? She had a couple of conversations with her older sister Pam, but I got the impression that Pam lived in a different city. These details bothered me because I couldn't figure out why Rachel was so dependent on her best friend Katie for financial support, namely a place to stay.

I also found myself growing increasingly annoyed with Finn's behavior and treatment of Rachel. He was in a fake relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Ariel, so that Ariel's father would continue to invest in his coffee company. At the same time, he kept pushing Rachel to be with him and even said he loved her, while acknowledging that he had no plans to call things off with Ariel for at least a couple of months. What exactly was Finn's plan? Was he going to sneak around with Rachel until he was finished using Ariel and her father for their money? That doesn't seem like love to me. It seems like he wanted to have his cake and eat it too.

Overall, I had a tough time coming up with a final rating and recommendation for "My Arrogant Boss" because while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. It's a light, quick, and steamy story, but ultimately not particularly memorable for me. I would still give the next one in the series a try.

Kylie King’s My Arrogant Boss is an enemies to lovers/workplace romance that’s a quick but sexy read. The novella starts with Finn and Rachel disliking each other but having to deal with one another, because their best friends are getting married. Eventually, Rachel’s career ends abruptly and leaves her in need of a new job, and that’s how she and Finn reconnect. Their mutual dislike is evident but so is their attraction. Rather soon, Finn and Rachel start having more than just a spiteful work relationship, and we get to see their relationship evolve from there.

This is a quick read, which makes it perfect for when you’re not looking for anything too deep or lengthy. I got through this book pretty fast, but there were times when I wish things weren’t so rushed. I generally like a little more character development, but then that’s not really the nature of shorter books. Even though, I enjoyed it and thought their relationship was equally intense and interesting.

As far as the characters go, I like Finn just fine despite some his relationship status when he and Rachel start becoming more than just enemies. However, Rachel wasn’t as likable. She’s guarded and yet sure of herself which works for me, but she comes off as a bit bratty, too. I suppose I’m a bit conflicted, since the tension caused by their attitudes may have been a touch frustrating. At the same time though, it propelled the story forward at the same time.

So, if you’re looking for a short but sexy story, read My Arrogant Boss. The conflict between the characters will keep you interested, and the ending will leave you satisfied.
