As a girl growing up in Voronezh, Russia, Lena Mikado loved the Southern classic novel Gone with the Wind so much so that she now lives with her husband and 3 children in the sunny Golden Isles of Georgia, and she strongly suspects that her fascination with the work of Margaret Mitchell had a great deal to do with how her life unfolded. Writing about the magic way fiction and reality tend to interweave in our everyday lives has become Lena’s true motivation on her creative journey. When not busy writing, she loves learning French, traveling the world with her family, belly-dancing and enjoying an occasional glass of wine in her lovely back yard.

Lena writes tongue-in-cheek, reality-based novels that take the reader on an enjoyable trip all around the world that are full of colorful, thought-provoking reflections on the matters that preoccupy most of us every minute of our lives: relationships, parenthood and trying to live in the present moment—all of that with a splash of delicious, flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants humor splashed on top. My Journey to the Ocean and A Year in the Sky are the first two novels of the All Colors of the Rainbow series, and they are now available from all major online bookstores. Lena is currently working on her third and final novel in the series—titled It's All About Love. Visit her online at lenamikado.com.

A travel-loving Russian girl gets to go to the States to work for four months, leaving behind the love of her life until she returns and commits for life. A new country, new friends, new ways, Elena falls in love with everything but in spite of being the object of handsome Chris's constant flirtation, she hangs on to her principles and her commitment to her Russian fiance. But is that what her future has in store for her?

I read this brilliant book in one day (and the best part of the night). Knowing it's autobiographical made it so much more interesting. Its effervescence was addictive, the dialog real and incredibly funny, the setting ideal for a summer romance to bloom, but here's a girl set on a dream wedged into her mind from a young age and although she sees where her future lies, she holds on to that dream until the very end. I found this utterly refreshing. No one would blame Elena for living a summer love especially after the relentness pressing she gets from Chris, but she sticks to her guns even though her mind and her body betray her. I fell in love with all the characters, and knowing they're all out there, I just want to meet them and be their friends. I also loved Lena Mikado's freshness in her writing. Her analogies are something else. So to the point and original, I had to highlight them. But most of all, I loved the writer's astute observations on life, relationships, love. They come up suddenly and unexpectedly and truly blew me away. That was one mature twenty-year old. The happy end was also heart-clenching.

I highly recomment this fun and light read.

This is a fun memoir about youth, enjoying life and making choices.

I had trouble with the author's narration and rambling style. Sometimes she would go off in philosophical tangents and jump around the story leaving me trying to keep track and wondering where she was trying to go with all of this. But since I have strict policy of sticking with books until the end unless they are complete rubbish, I was glad that I kept reading.

By the end I was emotionally invested and interested in what happened even if still frustrated at the author's style. The YouTube slideshow link after the epilogue really made me appreciate the book that much more as it allowed me to visualize the story and relate to the characters better.

While I wasn't particularly enjoying the book for most of the time that I read it, by the end I was left wanting more.

It started well, but half way through I was bored. There was a lot of turmoil and inner dialogue that was very repetitive. The story was flat and just became uninteresting. I found the characters underdeveloped, and confusing to follow. There were a couple of places in the book where the sentence did' t continue to the next page. The story kept my interest for awhile, and then it just fizzled.

Such a fun and easy read! I completely lost myself in the vivid imagery of these characters and their surroundings. It doesn't hurt that I'm a romantic at heart, and this story completely delivers. I absolutely loved the fact that two completely different people can come together and make their lives so so much better just by chance! This an amazing love story that makes you want to find this kind of happiness in your own life! I wish this book was longer, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. In my opinion this would be great as a TV show, just sayin'. Love, Love, LOVE!!!

I love to read. I can read cereal boxes, menus, anything. This book, though, wasn't fun. I had to force myself to finish the book. First, the typos and mistakes are overwhelming. I have never read a Kindle book with so many mistakes -- mispellings, missing words, inaccuracies. Second, the author rambles on and on, and then just stops mid-thought and goes to another scene. It has potential, but it needs to be streamlined and edited. I got the book free, and I would have been very upset if I had paid even 99 cents for it.

I started this book thinking it would be a fun read. I usually give a book about 100 pages more or less just to give it a chance, but the third time in as many pages, I read "My darling reader", I thought I was going to pull my darling head of hair out of my head!! That's all I could think of---when is she going to say it again. Obviously, I couldn't finish even the first chapter.

I loved reading this! It was such a fun read but also had that beautiful nostalgic touch to it when thinking of the days when life was easier and filled with so much adventure. I enjoyed the characters, the descriptions were spot-on, and I couldn't put the book down. The existential thought rambling was probably my favorite part because you feel like you know the author and that she thinks the same thoughts you do. Highly recommend for a light summer read!

I enjoyed the story very much. It wasn't an easy read for me. I normally fly through books. This one was much different. It makes you ponder life. You will enjoy the story. If you find it not to be an easy read,I urge you to keep reading. It is worth it. Great characters, you grow to understand things that you didn't know you didn't understand. Lol enjoy! I liked it. With characters that are so relatable and situations everyone remembers or can easily imagine themselves in. Makes for an enjoyable read where I found myself smirking and nodding on multiple occasions. I enjoyed the style because "this is what this book is at times –the stream of my confused consciousness".

It's a time machine of a book for me as I was lucky enough to be part of the story, so vividly written that it made me relive the 2004 summer as if it was yesterday and not ten years ago. And good heavens, what a summer it was!

Elena, Scarlett O'Hara at heart, travels from a small Russian city via the dazzling lights of New York to a hidden gem in the boiling hot Georgia where the last thing she wants is to encounter a guy who will stand in the way of her upcoming wedding. Her journey is an emotional roller-coaster that will keep you glued to this page-turner or screen-swiper from page one.

Two hearts find a mutual beat in a remote place by the ocean, with the author being literally split throughout the novel between the continents as well as between the choice of following her mind or her heart. It made me shed tears of sweet nostalgia as well as joy, and belly laugh at a myriad of troubled adventures that only carefree under-aged girls could get themselves into. A colourfully portrayed bouquet of drunken love, alcohol-fuelled parties and pondering philosophical questions about life, love and happiness that seem to occupy a much mature mind than that of a 20-year old girl.

It's a funny and inspirational read from start to finish that would make you believe in true love, empower you to go search for it or thank the universe if it's already gifted you with one. Go read it right now, keep it on your bedside table for when you feel low and fear not anything in life like a twenty-something would not!
