My Professor Kindle Edition
Professor Barclay views me as a nuisance, a disruption of his otherwise obedient class and perfectly regimented life. His bad impression of me stems from a simple misunderstanding, and when that impression sours from bad to worse, he decides to make an example out of me in front of the entire class. Every other female student in that auditorium looks on, longing to trade places with me, wishing they were the object of his attention. It’s humiliating. I want nothing to do with him or the tension growing between us, but he feels inescapable.
Deep down, I know I have a crush on him. It’s a shameful feeling I refuse to give life to.
Not that it matters—nothing can come from it. Besides our mutual dislike for one another and the fact that he’s my professor, there’s an age gap that should be warning enough.
While we might cross the line once—the dark glance across a dimly lit bar…the metallic sound of the bathroom door locking behind us…his hand slowly sliding up my skirt—I know it’s a boundary I can’t break again.
Now, more than ever, he’s off-limits.
After four years apart, I’m a brand-new hire at his firm. I’ve convinced myself he won’t remember me. I’m safe here in the wolf’s den.
It’s funny, isn’t it? How easily we can delude ourselves if only we want something bad enough.
Nothing has changed.
That same friction roils between us. My gaze still flees from the chill of his glacier blue eyes. I try to stay out of his way, to keep my distance, but like always we feel inevitable. Fate seems to think I belong in the arms of my old professor, and raging against fate…well, that’s a battle we’re all bound to lose.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2022I rarely give five-star reviews but My Professor earned them. I loved the time and research RSGrey obviously put into architectural history within the book’s pages. I loved the slow burn, the emotional turmoil experienced by both Emilia and Jonathan. The push and pull between these characters , thankfully shown with dual POVs, was enthralling and captivating. So much so, I couldn’t put the book down.
There were deep-rooted hurts that Grey explored sensitively and respectfully. There was sensual yet surprising passionate moments that warmed my cheeks. Made my toes curl. There was delicious, salacious banter that bristled and enticed. Heart-wrenching interval thought that awoke deep pity and respect. Emilia stole my heart. Jonathan boiled it.
My only grief was that the book ended where it did. I was so immersed that I wasn’t ready for the final page. There is still so, so much of their journey I wish to track. Still so much healing and nourishing I wanted for Emilia. Especially from Jonathan’s mother. I wanted to see completion of Emilia’s dreams.
And that is the power of exceptional storytelling. That is the strength of RAGrey’s brilliance as a wielder of magic words and insight. If you’re after a read to submerge your heart into, this is it. Be patient with Professor Barclay, that’s all I ask.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2022First of all let me ask this because as soon as I read I kept researching for a person named Ella James singing Etta James songs. But nope. Didn’t find any Ella’s. The type was there three times. Am I missing something lol I’m being picky about this because come on!! How can you mess up the lovely name Etta James.
This story was okay. I loved the beginning of the story. I lost interest in the middle of it. It had so much potential to develop into something more when four years passed. Maybe, the intention of the characters story was suppose to be lonely and sad but I just feel like Emilias character could have had a stronger personality and more oomph to her. There was something lacking.
Jonathan’s persona was strong but not enough background.
Let’s root for Alexander and Emmets story. I’d like to read their story but better developed.
Have a four because I’m sure these stories can be developed into more in the next book?
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2022Overall, the storyline was fun and so hard to put down. I loved that Grey gave more page time and significance to some characters from the heroine's past. It was really cool to see the healing and connection formed, but because the focus is typically on the hero and heroine's romance development for Grey's other books, this new added dynamic left a rushed ending with so many loose ends. I'd love to see a sequel that covers more of these two relationships, maybe even get the third person involved if the heroine is ready especially because the hero knows and has worked with all 3.
I didn't love the bedroom dynamic nor that he always took everything over. The castle plans should've been laid out by her and she should've been involved in the whole process.
I think readers should be cautious not to repeat a relationship like this. The hero is controlling, so rude, domineering, and frequently unnecessarily puts her down in public. He only communicates, gets intimate, or really does anything on his terms. He's not sexy and elusive, he's selfish and borderline absusively controlling. It's only like 75% of the way in that he starts to become kind. And when he does, it's such a contrast to how he treats her that it feels like whiplash. I get his hard earned success is on the line but instead of executing healthy boundaries, he's demonstrated that he will treat her poorly when he wanys to.. Who knows the next time he'll do that again? Ladies, THIS. IS. NOT. OKAY. It isn't sexy, it's abusive.
Also, when did the heroine ever express she wanted to be submissive and controlled in the bedroom? The hero barked commands at her the first time they were intimate (bar bathroom scene) like he always did and she simply complied like she always did. The only enhancement she expressly mentioned wanting in her sex life was for passion instead of quickie sex like her ex wanted. She once put on lingerie and lit candles and he laughed at her and that hurt because she was trying to add passion. But where did her desire to be controlled come from? If she said it, then cool. Personal preferences, you know? But what concerns me is never once did she tell him she wanted that. He just loves when she obeys him. If that's his personal preference, they can decide that together. That's fine. But considering he's a controlling jerk, major red flags go up for me. It's not just bedroom preferences at that point, it's controlling abuse. Which, again, is NOT OKAY.

This book checks off my favorite tropes:
✅ age gap
✅ professor-student
✅ grumpy but protective MMC
Jonathan Barclay has a problem. He has been drawn to the mystery woman who sits on the bench outside his office. Now that said woman is in his class, and she is proving to be a bigger distraction than he anticipated. When he finally reaches the edge of his self-control with Emelia Mercier, he drives her away from his class and his life.
Four years later, their worlds collide again. This time, he is her boss, and she is the new architecture conservation expert in his firm. Could he keep himself away from Emelie, or will he finally succumb to his attraction?
This read has all of the ingredients that make me love R.S. Grey books. The broody male character. The hopeful female lead. The arc from adversarial misunderstanding to deep emotional connection. The tension that sizzles from page 1 until the story reaches the end.
This also had elements that were a welcome departure from Grey's portfolio. The age gap. The forbidden love. The angst. THE SPICE.
New books by R.S. Grey always have a burden of meeting a high bar because I have had some of the best reads among their predecessors. This book did not disappoint at all, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will want more
R S Grey has done it again - another brilliant read that is full of angst, heat and of course a HEA BUT I was sooooooo not ready for the end of Jonathan and Emilia's story -
Aside from the chemistry between these two, the push and pull, how Grey develops their relationship and allows Emilia to 'take the lead' and Jonathan plays the game.... that all aside (hahahaha) there are 2 great side characters in this story, Emmett and Alexander, and you are left with sooooooooo much to think about.
I can only hope that Ms Grey has every intention of making this Book 1 in a series, that can easily be read as stand alones, BUT trust me, you will want to read every book she has written.
Please Ms Grey - I, we, NEED MORE of our Professor, Emilia, Lucille needs 5 grandchildren and we need more of Emmett and Alexander - soooooooooooo much more

5.0 out of 5 stars Teacher, boss....
Jonathan has captured her attention, but the professor power play just won't do. Meeting again a few years later when she comes to work for him still keeps her from what ever began to brew....
He's always noticed her. But he'll let her dictate how this proceeds, until he recognizes something....
I really enjoyed this more emotional ride of a story. Unlike Rachel's laugh out loud books, this story dives deeper into feelings of loneliness, of just wanting to connect, on feeling like you belong. You see it in many parts of this story how she reaches out for that tight little circle and Jonathan reads this well, protects it. Yes their chemistry is great, and yes there is character development but it's that emotional piece that truly shines.
Absolutely enjoyed it.
I do hope we can see more of Emmett and I definitely want to know Alexander's story. Both deserve a hea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!
Well, this was honestly a very captivating read. It was the "boy obsessed trope" done right! The writing was easy to get into and Jonathan & Emelia's dynamics had me hooked! Jonathan was her professor for a course she was enrolled into. They had an age gap but somehow their relationship didn't feel taboo even when four years later, Emelia started to work in Jonathan's company as a new hire. Jonathan was pretty captivated by her and I just wanted them to get together because all their little encounters always left me feeling frustrated. The plot was okay and there was a little bit of drama with Emilia's family but I loved her brothers. Alexander was easy to like but eventually Emett grew on me too. I hope Emmett & Lainey get their own book because I'd be here for it! Overall, it was a great read, I enjoyed it. R.S. Grey never disappoints when it comes to delivering fast paced, light hearted and fluffy books with great chemistry between the main characters that never fails to lift up my mood and put me out of my reading slump!

3.0 out of 5 stars My professor 🛐🔥😏
Desde el primer momento en que los protagonistas interactuaron me atraparon y me encantaron. La tension que se cargan estos dos es sublime y perfecta pero demasiado slowburn para mi desgracia. 🥲. Aún así lo disfruté.

5.0 out of 5 stars And another beaut!! 🥰🤩
It's official... This is now my favourite R.S Grey book!!! I know I say that about each one but the tension, the romance, the emotion and every other significant thing just made this book insanely goooood!!!
The spice was *chefs kiss* and Professor Barclay is now my favourite MMC from any of her books! I love it when the MMC is the first to grow an obsession with the FMC!
I really didn't want this to end! I want more... I want to know things that happen years down the line... I want to know Emelies reaction when he tells her about how he first saw her... I want it all!!!
The side characters were brilliant too - Alexander was so adorable but so so troubled (I think we all need a book for him). Emmett was the typical arrogant secret softie (I feel like we've been set up for his book which is exciting). Sonya was hilarious! She's the friend everybody needs and wants!
Overall, another great hit! If there is one thing I have to say bad about this book, it's that it ended. I'd be happy for thus to have just kept going and going and going!
Still definitely up there as my number 1 rom-com author of all time! The writing style, the characters, the plots... They just always capture me instantly from page one, every time!!
