Extending Branches: A Nature Wizard Adventure (Magic of Nasci Book 9) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

I’m supposed to form alliances with other magical people. I’d rather get ambushed by a monster.

I should be careful what I wish for.

My relationship with game warden Vincent Garcia is just getting started, but there’s a huge catch: I’m supposed to build bridges between his elementally-gifted family and my druid community. We need to work together against the supernatural creatures that stalk our forests.

The only problem: Vincent’s family hates me.

But with a new threat lingering in the woods, I don’t have a lot of time to play diplomat. If I can’t convince Vincent’s family we should work together, people could die…and Vincent’s loved ones will be the first to fall.

*****

Ina, the lightning shepherd, returns in this stand-alone story about nature wizards. Readers who enjoy strong female leads who grow over time will love this not-so-urban fantasy series.

DM Fike wanted desperately to become a superhero growing up. Barring that, she would have enjoyed riding a unicorn or at least meeting a fairy. Since none of that happened, she decided to write books about everyday people discovering magic through a series of epic adventures. She’s currently living out her own happily-ever-after with her husband and two wonderful children in Oregon.

I'm new to the world created by DM Fike, but I'm awfully glad I found this series as well as her Chosen One series. They are both excellent reads!

It is a delight to visit Ina's world again! The series has such unique world building and for us nature lovers, it is a real treat. In some UF, nature plays a significant role, but to have it essentially be co-equal with Ina-the-human makes the book quite uncommon. They have a heckuva challenge this time around. This monster is particularly dangerous because it can directly impact Ina and those around her!
I love it when a book has a seemingly insurmountable problem and then prevails.
It's nice to see her relationship growing with Vincent - as well as making some inroads with his family.
I really love this series and am very glad to see it continue!

I just love the relationship between Ina and Vincent. Now that she has the green light to get close to Vincent's family, things should have been easier for her, but they aren't.

She keeps breaking the rules, but she wouldn't be Ina if not for that. At least her heart is still in the right place, and she keeps showing that her actions are actually good.

She is more accepted overall but still gets in trouble with those who don't like change, including some fellow shepherds and some from Vincent's family.

I like the story and continue to enjoy the challenges they face. I hope Ina keeps being a reason for change and growth among the shepherds, and I want to keep following her growth.

The characters are fantastic and quirky. The plot is twisty and interesting. The world building is great. I hope the author will write more books in this universe in the future.

I wish this wasn't the last book. The world is ours and yet not. This whole series has been a great read and hard to put down.

This series was a pleasure to read. A very contemporary outlook on a great fantasy series. I 1st read her other series about The Mother of the Chosem One and read this series based on how much I enjoyed that thread of her writings. This was exciting, unusual and creative and I am sorry that I have finished both series. I look forward to any more books that this author might come up with. Such fun and unusual arcs and worlds. I love them all!

Although this one leaves the series on a good note, after some ‘edge of your seat read as fast as you can’ moments, it leaves the door open for more. So I really hope there is more to come. Pretty please? After all, the fox has only just started to find her voice
