WOW - where to start, where To START?!
Needles, book 3 in the Death Hounds MC series by the mega talented author H.J. Marshall is jam freaking packed with so much ooey gooey goodness. It's lip smacking good and will leave you full, satisfied and hungry for more! Trust me, you’ll want seconds and thirds and fourths. It's exactly what I've come to expect from the author and I couldn't be more pleased at the incredible romance she delivered to her readers.
What's in this ooey gooey goodness you ask? Well, it's definitely not your ordinary sweet kind of romance. Nope it is not! But it has its very sweet moments. It's an escape of the motorcycle romance kind that you dream about and was made from the very best of ingredients.
Needles is the perfect recipe, a smorgasbord so to speak, offering its readers only top shelf, grade A characters that include a variety of hot as all get out bad boys and I'm not talking about school boys. These are men. Real men. The "take no crap" kind and will have your toes curling in no time. Add to that the most caring devoted women who are the most supportive bunch of women you will ever need by your side when the going gets rough. And believe me it does. It really does!
Our top ingredients in this romance include a yummy in your tummy and swoonylicious Hero Monroe aka Needles. A member of the Death Hounds MC. Good God Almighty. He's exactly what our beautiful heroine needs. It's a match made in MC heaven.
Speaking of matches, Needles will set your heart, not to mention the rest of you as well as your ereader on fire. I wanted to take a big ole bite right out of him and savor every tasty lip licking morsel.
But there is darkness living inside Needles. Family matters that left me gasping at the wrongness of it all. There is so much of it. I was in complete disbelief that this could happen to this man through his childhood. The scope of what happened to him will both surprise you and make you sick to your stomach. Demons that taunted him as an adolescent seemed to have trickled into his present. It's a very clear and present danger. I would love to elaborate but no can do. Spoilers and all, you understand.
Also tied for the number one top ingredient is Violet. There's so much I want to tell you about her but I don't want to give anything away. I absolutely adored her. Like Monroe, she has darkness residing inside her too. Incredible sadness and for good reason. You'll want to help her. But all you can do is read on and pray she finds what she’s looking for...
Violet is so sweet and filled with pure goodness through and through. Her life has been nothing short of a nightmare. She's missing a part of her soul. Something that crushes her spirit and leaves her empty and feeling unlovable. A shallow version of the woman she deserved to be.
Lost loves, stolen moments and danger danger danger seem to always find Violet in the worst way. But something other than sadness also finds her. Giving her renewed hope for a happier life.
Unexpected love in various forms, being loved, finding and falling in love. Those are things Violet never dreamed could be possible. Would she, could she dare to hope for such happiness when certain people enter her life? Both good and evil. Or was it wishful thinking?
Unfortunately she's found herself smack dab in the middle of big time suspenseful and potentially deadly trouble. That's when her eyes land on a certain biker. A biker who is equally enamored with her and refuses to leave her side in the face of danger. Needle is so very good to Violet. His protectiveness over her is goosebump worthy!
Oh, about Violet.... Don't let Violet's innocence fool you. You mess with her favorite flowers, Iris and Rose and there will be a day of reckoning… For everyone. When push comes to shove, she'll prove she's no shrinking Violet!
The number three ingredient is our beloved Gladys. Yes, I said ours. Because well, she stole my heart, dang it! She plays a very large role in Violet's life as well as those closest to her. She helped Violet in a huge way during the hardest times in her sad life. Violet loves Gladys very much. Just like everyone else who meets her.
Now for ingredient number four... He's baaaaack! The madman of Portstill. You got it. The one and only Devlin Callahan rejoins us once more and I couldn't get enough! My heart was all a flutter when he entered the story. Awe and jealousy at the love he carries for his family and friends. Especially for his wife-his lamb Elise and DJ. But dear gawd, don't cross him or someone in his "family" because your time on this earth will be short lived. He does not mind getting his hands dirty. Cleaning up the filth and taking out that trash brings him such satisfying joy no matter how that's done. Yup, Devlin Callahan is as bad*ss as they come. He's meaty, he's everything and you'll want to sink your teeth into him.
The number five ingredient is a group of people. The best of people. It's got bits of Devlin Callahan's lovely lamb Elise, DJ, Sadie, Gunner, Skid, Grace, James, Jackal and of course, the unforgettable Iris and Rose. With all of the past characters from this series and series that have passed, it just felt like home. What an awesome feeling that was.
The number six ingredient is also a group of people. The villains. The evildoers. And there are so many of them. I loved hating each and every one of them. These villains were brilliantly written. The nature in which their characters were intricately woven into the story blew my mind. I'm not saying any more about that group. Only that it's big. Really big! Each added to the story in their own way in a deplorable, depraved and suspenseful way. They are truly evil people. E.V.I.L!
Will the demons as well as a deranged psychopath that's on the loose, who wreaked havoc over the lives of so many innocents, meet their maker in some fashion? Sorry! My lips are sealed.

The comradery, the openness within the brotherhood was as amazing as ever. They felt each other's pain and weren't afraid to show it. What honor each and every brother had. As I've said in the prior reviews of the books in this series, you'd be hard-pressed to find another brotherhood that could come even close to that of the Portstill Death Hounds MC.

The twists towards the end. May I just say “OH MY GAWD!!!”

There were EXCITING TWISTS and SHOCKING TURNS, NAIL BITING SUSPENSE, and a VERY SURPRISING TURN OF EVENTS that had me gripping my tablet as the adrenaline was spiking and taking over my senses. There were some really terrific "I never saw coming" moments and I gobbled them up one bite at a time.
Were the evildoers brought to their knees? All I can really say is what happens will leave you stunned!
The finale was the "just dessert" one would need after all that excitement. It was what everyone in this family, this home, and especially Needles & Violet so richly deserved! The ending was so therapeutic, satisfying and had me rubbing my full belly having just devoured this AMAZING 5-Star romance. Talk about coming full circle. It's mmm mmm good!
