Never Lasting: A Rock Star Romance (Never Blue Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
Before I left for college, my mom told me not to settle down with the first guy who crosses my path. Sage advice, sure, but that’s hard to do after I share an elevator with a guy who is nothing like the boys back home. I swore off musicians a long time ago, but when I see Jude on stage for the first time, I know I’m going to fall for him, and I’m damn sure it’s going to hurt.
Jude Goldman is a bad boy with a guitar and big dreams.I have one goal: making it as a musician. There's no obstacle I won't destroy to be the one under the spotlight. Nothing has slowed me down, not until a chocolate-eyed girl with a New York accent enters my world. Tali becomes as important as landing a record deal, and I’ll do anything to have both, no matter how much it hurts.
We’re two ships moored together in a storm of excess, stardom, and broken promises, pulled apart and yanked back in, until we’re both battered and breaking. We have that forever kind of love, but for us, forever might be nothing more than stardust and memories.

About the author

Julia Wolf writes sexy rockers, grumpy billionaires, snarky heroines, and bad ass women. She’s a firm believer in happily ever afters, no matter how rocky the road is to get there.
She doesn’t believe in “guilty pleasures”, only pleasure. Reading about a plus size woman who gets absolutely railed by a hot rock star is pleasure. Reading about a damaged college student whose flaws are valued and loved by the grumpy guy next door is pleasure. Reading about love in a small town or big city or on a tour bus is pleasure. Reading romance is pleasure!
Julia lives in Maryland with her husband and three crazy, beautiful children. When she’s not writing romance, she’s reading it. Some of her favorite things are, in no particular order: goats, books, coffee, and Target.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2025I NEVER leave reviews, but I can’t help myself this time. I’ve binged several Julia Wolf books over the past month. I’ve genuinely loved every single one, but my goodness the end of this one had my heart feeling broken right along with Tali’s.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2019I feel that with each book an author should grow. I believe JW has done that and it shows in Never Lasting. It is a duet so it's not the whole story but it is an excellent start and as long as it maintains this pace, she's got another winner. Well written, well researched, and full of all the qualities of a good book. There's love and angst, romance and laughter, heartbreak and healing.
Another thing I like is when an author can get you to care about a character that you previously didn't give much thought. Tali. She wasn't really on my radar previously but JW fixed that. Tali is a great character. The book starts in her early college days. She a little young and naive but she's no pushover either. She has goals and aspirations and the drive to reach them. She's going places. As the story moves along she falls in love but the road isn't smooth. Jude is a rock God but he's just beginning and also he has lots of issues, responsibilities, and things we don't even know yet but we will. They are surrounded by friends and family and a myriad of things going on, good and bad. Will their relationship survive? That's where book two will pick up because this one ends in the dreaded cliffhanger.
I'll be honest. I'm not a fan of duets or series where it's just one story. It takes a lot to maintain my attention but I am invested in Tali and Jude so I don't have a choice but to continue. I mean that in a good way. I do recommend this story and I look forward to the ending.
***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.***
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2023I can completely empathize with the only one-star review for this book, which states, "Too much to relive. Too much hurt again. I will not read another book to continue this pain. Never again." In this moment, having freshly finished book one, I can COMPLETELY understand this sentiment. After starting this book, and literally giggling through Tino & Talia banter (I had a friend in college just like him and it made me so giddy to see his character in a book!) to then be completely wrecked at the end of this book - when I tell you I was ugly crying, bawling my eyes out! To even dream of attempting book two - I honestly don't know if I can do it. With that said, I imagine that if anyone can spin their tragedy into something beautiful again it would be Julia Wolf. *deep breath* I may need a little break from these characters before trying to find out. Thank you for the wild ride, Ms. Wolf. I am now going to go see if you have any stories your repertoire with a guaranteed happy ending...
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2020Wow Julie, this one really tore me up. I know Ben was a side character but I really fell in love with him. I was never team Jude, I thought he was A dirt bag from the start. There were parts that made me try to like him… But I just couldn’t. I hope in the next book tali Finds someone worthy of her. I know it won’t turn out that way but a girl can dream… There are too many dirtbags in the world just like Jude who can’t keep a promise and grow up and be a man. I am salute Lee love Tino’s character and what a great friend he is… I hope there’s more of him in the second book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2023So many feels, I was scared to keep reading bc I loved their love for each other. But I knew hurt was coming and I didn’t want to be devastated. I went into this book blind. I had no idea what it was about and it had me by the throat the whole time.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2019That man is TROUBLE all right. Our hero is the definition of a heartbreaker, because it is so, so easy to fall for him but he is also so, so bad for you.... something that our heroine learns along the way. The chemistry is off the charts from the very beginning between Tali and Jude, but they might be too young (and a little too dumb) to make things work the first time around. An intriguing and well written start to a duet, this book has all the highs and lows that come with young love - made all the more complicated by the fact that Jude is a musician slowly getting sucked into the rock star lifestyle.
The story follows Tali, a college student starting out at a new school. She’s decided to focus on her own goals for a while, but meeting Jude changes everything. He’s a musician on the cusp of making his big break, and while he doesn’t have any intention of starting something with Tali, the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore. He finds himself torn between music and his girl, and it soon becomes apparent that Jude might not be able to handle having both.
This has such a great early 2000s vibe that was fun to read. I loved the writing and the chemistry between Jude and Tali was undeniable. That being said, knowing that things wouldn’t work out between them (at least this time around) added a level of tension to the book - which I kinda liked and also struggled with. I found myself wanting to turn those pages to see how it all goes wrong, but it also made me that much more invested in their relationship. Not gonna lie, Jude has his flaws in this but underneath all that is love for Tali. Definitely looking forward to seeing what’s next for these two. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021I loved their love but this book had so many of my emotions coming out. One minute laughing, mad and/or crying. Definitely crying at the end. This book is completely worth all of those emotions to read. I am moving straight on to #2 because I need them happy and together again. Right now even knowing it is fiction I have a knot in my throat and a broken heart for these characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2024Oh boy, this one hurts. Knowing the story continues and presumably has a happy ending is the only thing getting me through right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Read!
I absolutely devoured this book! It's so real and raw it will pull at your heartstrings.
The book is beautifully written and shows the impact and devastation drugs and alcohol can have on loved ones. It will bring tears to your eyes.
I can't wait to start book two.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well written, but the descent into hell was too hard to witness
I loved the energy between the two main characters, and read compulsively, but the closer I came to the end, the darker it got and the harder it was for me to keep reading. I kept hoping against all hope that things would turn bright again.
I didn't like the fact that the fall happened so quickly, even if it sometimes happens like that. I feel like the timeline moves faster, and bigger chunks are left out when we reach the end of the book, which could have been softer.
I was left with a sour taste, which I didn't need at the time I read this book :/

5.0 out of 5 stars This book…..just wow.
A must read. My heart. The ending. Can’t wait to read the next one.
A definite five star read.
This is such a rollercoaster. The emotions were building throughout the whole book….then the ending just crushed me. If you love an angsty romance then this is for you. Be prepared to need some tissues!

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome start to the duet
I have just reread this again having read it when it first published. A love story for Tali, from Blue Is The Colour series and Jude. He is a musician and she the manager of a world famous band. This love seems doomed he just keeps messing up and breaking her heart. It is so hard to say how without giving too much away.
This book ripped out my heart and destroyed my soul. I can't remember crying so much over a book. I can't recommend this enough, you have to read it then go straight into the next one.
