Nightfall: An EMP Survival Thriller (American Midnight Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 709 ratings

THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES...

It's been five years since the Pulse, the mysterious event that led to the complete failure of the world's electrical grid and plunged society into permanent darkness.

Nurse Lucy Goodwin, her brother Jack, and her young ward Norah now live in Promise, a small community that formed in the wake of the technological apocalypse.

Their lives are not easy, but they have food, water, weapons, and medical care. They are among the lucky ones in a world beset by lawlessness and starvation.

But after encountering a trio of mysterious bandits, Lucy and Jack learn that a new threat lurks on the horizon, one that could spell the end of their community ... and their lives.

This book was so good I had to write to say this book had everything I love the characters are unforgettable and filled with surprises.this is a story with edge of your seat moments that keep you on edge but mostly it’s a story that totally sucked me in as if I was there thank you David Kazzie

So, I skimmed the first book, and made it to about 40% of the second. These are the reasons. I hate books that have most of the dialog, internally. There is very little character to character dialog. Secondly, it's tooooo descriptive. Not everything needs an adjective or a lengthy description. In addition, I lost count of how many pages were dedicated to the deceased daughter. Honestly, I have no idea why she continually was brought up. It added nothing to the plot. I won't be reading further.

The apocalypse at its peak. Evil forces killing just to remain at the top of the heap. Good people die so this is a much more likely scenario of an actual apocalypse.

This book takes the apocalyptical thriller to the next step--- showing life after the world-ending event. That's what makes this such an addictive page-turner. Lucy and her brother are not just trying to survive, they are fighting for their home and their extended family. The world David Kazzie creates is real and identifiable. The story is riveting and the action is extraordinary. This is exactly the kind of escapist fiction that I wanted to read. I highly recommend this.

I was drawn into this book from the first sentence. A very good portrayal of what our world be like in the event of an EMP destroying the power grid. The characters were very believable. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Can't wait for the last book in the series to come out!

The main protagonist has a long since dead daughter whose name is constantly brought up over and over, even though she has nothing to do with what is going on in the storyline.I gave up on it.

When the lights go out, planes fall, trains derail. Everything becomes chaotic. Then it becomes a fight for survival a fight to live. But always there is evil in someone who wants it all.

If you're a fan of TWD and enjoyed the whole Negan/Saviours v Rick/Alexandria storyline, then this is almost a carbon copy. Yes, there are differences, but way too many similarities for my taste.
