No Match for Her: A Friends-to-Lovers, Opposites-Attract Romance (Berkeley Hills series Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 115 ratings

I need a fake date to my brother's wedding, and billionaire Charlie Walgrove owns a tux. Simple, right?

He’s also my sister’s boss, and I agree to let her set me up with the awkward genius, who apparently has even less luck in the dating game than a struggling artist, aka me.

We’re total opposites, but the date goes okay. We agree to be friends, the kind who won’t become lovers.

Famous last words.

On a series of “friend dates” involving bar snacks, acrylic paint and hedgehogs, I discover that Charlie is nothing like what I expected. Under his hoodie and glasses, he’s handsome and down-to-earth, stuck in a job he hates and afraid to disappoint people by walking away. His heart is as gorgeous as his hidden face.

I’ve always felt like the flaky sister in my family, but Charlie sees me as the artist I want to be. As our friendship deepens, so do my feelings for him. Maybe I’m even falling in love.

But gambling with my heart feels dangerous when all my relationships end in failure–especially if he’s only looking for a friend.

Is it only princesses that get a Happily Ever After? Or is there hope for a hot mess like me?

No Match for Her is a STANDALONE friends-to-lovers, opposites-attract romance. It is part of the Berkeley Hills series.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Stacy Travis writes charming, spicy romance about bookish, sassy women and the hot alphas who fall for them.

Writing makes her infinitely happy, but that might be the coffee talking. She drinks a LOT of it.

She's worked as a journalist, camp counselor, TV writer, SAT tutor, corporate finance researcher, education technology editor, and non-fiction author. When she's not on a deadline, she's in running shoes complaining that all roads seem to go uphill. Or on the couch with a margarita. Or fangirling at a soccer game.

She's never met a dog she didn't want to hug. And if you have no plans for Thanksgiving, she'll probably invite you to dinner.

Stacy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and a poorly-trained rescue dog who hoards socks. And she's serious about the Thanksgiving thing.

Another Great Romance

Another Great Romance
I really loved No Match for Her both times I read it. Yes, yes I read it twice. I know- my TBR is jealous but Charlie and Cherry were great and I couldn’t help it! They had great chemistry and I loved the moments they shared that built their friendship first. This was a slow burn compared to earlier books in series, but it was just right for this couple. The little moments were my favorite and who knew a convo about a car console organizer could be so…so…so…connecting…memorable…touching…perfect! It was the first time the reader gets to see how these two might actually be a good match and I had hope from that moment on. Charlie and Cherry both suffered big time from “I’m not enough” syndrome. Their pasts made it hard to believe they deserved the connection they were forming. They helped each other overcome their shortcomings through some unique outings that led them to love. Getting glimpses of Cherry’s  family made me smile. I like when a series gives peeks into the lives of characters from previous books but it still totally works as a standalone. This one has vibes from many tropes so take your pick. It is a blind date, friends to lovers, fake date, billionaire romance that I highly recommend 💜

This book is AH-MA-ZING!!! Stacy Travis always delivers a romance that I fall in love with more and more after every release and characters you can't help but feel an affinity to. She always hits a home run with me. Cherry and Charlie’s love story was truly beautiful, a tale of a gorgeous friendship that slowly developed into a heartfelt romance. It was complex, and while this was a light read, this couple, the heroine particularly, had some serious things to overcome on their way to happily ever after. It was unexpected, and the feels this story invoked in me often took me by surprise in the very best of ways. Throw in some mutual pining, a delicious slow burn and a mash up of friends to lovers/opposites attract, this fell firmly into my wheelhouse.

I adored the storyline and characters. It was an unforgettable love story with lovable characters that were easy to relate to and root for, humour that made me laugh and smile, and a swoon-worthy romance that melted my heart. Cherry and Charlie completely stole my heart, and I absolutely loved them and their story. Charlie was all that and so much more. He was kind and considerate, sweet and loyal, compassionate and understanding, obviously a bit of a geek, but he was also hot, sexy, dominant, funny and swoon-worthy. Cherry is a witty and sassy woman yet behind it lies a baggage that really touched me in all sorts of ways. I loved her, and I was really rooting for her. These two were complete opposites and that's what made them so relatable and likable. They completely balanced each other out, and together, they were just perfect.

Stacy Travis did such an incredible with this book. It was funny. It was sweet. It was romantic. It has a lot of depth that tugged at the heartstrings as I was reading. No Match For Her was so much more than just a simple romance. There was real and genuine love that needed to be fought for in the midst of all the witty banter, and moments of swoony sweetness. I loved this book so, so much.

There's a certain kind of joy a bookworm experiences when they discover a new author and realize the book they enjoyed is just one of many. That joy is only slightly tempered by the groans of an overloaded bookshelf trying to support the weight of an already massive TBR pile.

No Match for Her is the first novel I've read by author Stacy Travis, but it won't be the last. Travis writes low-angst romance stories with charming characters including career-driven heroines and funny, swoon-worthy heroes. Her stories also feature plenty of banter, no cheating, and guaranteed HEAs.

In this slow burn, friends-to-lovers, opposites attract romance, Cherry and Charlie are set up on a blind date that doesn't go so well. The two decide to be friends, and Cherry invites Charlie to be her fake date to her brother's wedding in six weeks. In the meantime, they decide to have weekly "friend dates" to get to know each other. A lot can happen in six weeks, including falling in love with your fake date.

Cherry is a struggling artist and a free spirit. Charlie is a reluctant billionaire who is on the autism spectrum. I absolutely fell in love with him, and these two were so good for each other. I really enjoyed accompanying Cherry and Charlie on their friend dates and watching these two slowly fall for each other.

I love this book! It’s a fun read and a beautiful love story that had me feeling all the feels, with a gorgeous friends-to-lovers, opposites-attract romance between two unforgettable characters.

This is the final book in the Berkley Hills series, and Cherry is the last of six siblings to have their stories written (five sisters in this series) but like the earlier books, this one can definitely stand alone.

Cherry needs a date for her older brother’s wedding, so her sister, Tatum, steps in and sets her up on a date with her workaholic, billionaire boss. Charlie was introduced in the last book of the series, and he’s such an intriguing character, I was so excited for this set-up and couldn’t wait to get to know him!

Cherry is an artist, though currently working in an uninspiring design job, and she feels like the odd one out in a family full of Type A personalities. Though she loves them all deeply, she feels like she’s the ‘flighty’ one, who doesn’t stack up against her siblings. And now that they’re all paired up and she’s the last single one among them, with her bad luck with men she’s feeling even more isolated. Seemingly her complete opposite, Charlie is a tech genius who has just taken his ground-breaking virtual reality company public. He has been harbouring a crush on Cherry since seeing her from a distance a few years ago, so he is super nervous for their blind date, and it does not go well.

But when they accidentally run in to each other again, they end up sharing a meal, and things go a lot better the second time around. They both see a potential for friendship, and when Charlie agrees to be Cherry’s platonic date for the wedding, they decide to have a series of friend-dates to get to know each other better, setting the scene for a gorgeously slow-burning friends-to-lovers romance.

Firstly, bravo, Stacy Travis, for giving us a neurodivergent hero, and making it not a big deal. It's a part of the story, but also not - it's just noted that Charlie processes things a little differently, but it's not a huge part of the storyline, and Cherry accepts him exactly as he is. Charlie is sweet, fun and sexy, charmingly awkward, and a little bit vulnerable, but completely alpha when he wants to be. I absolutely adored him, and reading from his perspective was so entertaining.

And OMG, I love these two together! They are both a little quirky, but they fully embrace it in each other, and they are honest and open about everything as they get to know each other. Their friend dates are fun, interesting and I loved seeing them together, especially because attraction sparks pretty quickly. But they don’t expect anything from the other, so neither of them even try to make a move… that doesn’t stop their growing feelings though.

There’s a fantastic sense of anticipation watching everything build between them, and I was so excited waiting for something to happen.

And when it comes… holy hot damn! It’s sexy, intense and gorgeously romantic, and I love watching them both hurl themselves over the friendship line, and just dive on into it.

But as easy as everything has been between them, they’re both a bit lost and trying to find their way. They’ve got a lot to figure out, and there is some drama and emotion while they do that, but again, it’s beautifully written, and their individual stories are really well develop as they play out alongside the romance, which completely captured my heart.

I have really enjoyed this series. We get to see the rest of Cherry’s family, which I loved, and it’s definitely ending on a high note with this book. Cherry and Charlie’s story is so special, and will stay with me for a long time to come.
