Nobody's Groom: A bisexual awakening romance (Marital Bliss) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 425 ratings

Colby likes everyone -- except the new cowboy on the crew who rubs him the wrong way.

TJ is looking for a fresh start, not a young country boy who provokes him at every turn.

They're both in for a rough awakening.

TJ is too gruff, too unfriendly, too...
something. Something that gets under Colby's skin. He doesn't even realize how much until his body reacts, shocking them both. Colby's never been with a man, but he can't fight the desire TJ's rough hands have awakened in him.

When tempers boil over into lust, TJ is happy to indulge Colby's secret desires. So long as it stays physical. TJ knows better than to think he's worthy of anyone's heart. But Colby's innocence softens something inside him, and he can't deny he wants more.

TJ is nobody's groom, but maybe he can give Colby everything else.

Nobody's Groom is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers novella set in the Marital Bliss universe.

This story was a real turn-on. Usually, MM fiction follows a formula: grumpy vs sunshine and lots of anguish through the first half of the book. I loved how TJ could "read" Comet's conflicts and simply assert himself over Colby. Great read I was reluctant to put down.

I am enamored with this two cowboys. They grabbed my heart and are still holding. Is it the best book that I have ever read. No, but is sweet, but and touching. Just what a reader needs, a good story that holds one's interest about characters that one likes.

Each time I read one of DJ's books, those couples are my favorite
... except this time I think Colby and TJ are out of them all. I have read the whole series. Somehow I skipped over this one, lol, but these two really touched my heart.
They both deserved happiness. I am glad that after their initial hookup that TJ understood where Colby was coming from and became more open to him. Realizing that Colby was confused and needed time to adjust, just proved he was a better man than he thought.

Well, I wondered as I read the first few chapters if I’d be able to relate to these characters... I have never a farmer or a cowboy. Yet, as the heat rose between these guys, I could sense both had more real character. I watched them grow together and worried when things seemed to go wrong. They found the way to each other. I was rather surprised when I thought a hot ending really had a lot of detail... and the final events gave it a satisfying ending.

I'm so glad these two characters got a story. I was definitely intrigued by them while reading Wrangling A Groom. This book is a little more steamy than is usual for this author, so it's a good thing she is pretty good at creating good chemistry between the characters. I loved this fun, sweet enemies to lovers story, with a big gruff hero falling for a sweet ray of sunshine.

Cute Colby’s sexual curiosity and TJ’s forward let’s say thinking totally set the pace for this story from the get go. Colby sweet as pie and TJ being mysterious made a nice couple.

Colby is straight, and hugely dislikes TJ. In a story jammed with emotional highs and lows, Colby very quickly realises everything he thinks he knows is wrong, and his HEA is going to be with TJ. There will be a groom at some point, as well. It’s inevitable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favourite by this author

Firstly, I can't figure out whether this is meant to be able to stand alone or not. I read it without having read the others set in this world, and while there is a bit of a backstory given, its not enough to really give you a good understanding of the characters or the existing relationships. If it's not meant to be standalone then the blurb should really call that out (which it doesn't) - therefore this review is based off the premise that this should support itself as a stand alone novel.

Focusing on Colby and TJ themselves, I found them a bit boring to be honest. They went from supposedly hating each other, to Colby being curious and experimenting with TJ, to them being in a relationship very quickly. Everyone around them took it well and there wasn't much else happening that grabbed my attention. I found myself easily able to out the book down and walk away, and several times considered not finishing in favour of starting a new book that might have some substance and excitement. There are some hot sex scenes and except for their first encounter, these did show a caring and thoughtful side to TJ. They just didn't have much interaction with each other aside from meeting up for sex. We hear about ranch life as an afterthought in many cases, not at the time they're actually doing the work. I think the book was just too short to give them any real depth, which is a shame.

There was really no angst or drama in this - even the big secret that TJ supposedly had was glossed over very quickly - it became such a non-issue I had to wonder what the point was. Then the epilogue skipped 7mths forward and we miss any potential issues with Colby's family when he came out to them - we hear about what happened in hindsight.

Editing wise, it could use some more breaks between paragraphs within chapters. There were several instance of the POV and location changing from one paragraph to the next without any breaks (which were included elsewhere). It disrupted the reading flow.

In short, I'm not inclined to read other books set in this world. I've read other books by this author and enjoyed them foe the most part, but this one wasn't a favourite at all.

This book is a good mm romance. I enjoyed the self-discovery and acceptance of the men and their individual challenges in admitting their orientation both to themselves and those they care for. Recommended read.
