This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Freya has blanks in her memories being shuffled from home to home in the system. Hunt is a search and rescue K-9 handler for Xtreme Ops. When Hunt's K-9, Aries, alerts on their way to a vacation cabin, Hunt stops the truck and follows Aries to Freya. Freya and Hunt's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading North Of Love and look forward to my next book by Em Petrova. This is book 7 of the Xtreme Ops Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

    This was a fun book as a spin off from the Xtreme ops team.

    Hunt just wanted some vacation and some R&R up in the mountains alone with his K9 partner, Aries. However Aries being the good trained animal that he is, he sniffs out a hurt woman.

    I liked the simmering chemistry between these two mixed in with the take charge and doing everything by the book that Hunt was trying to do to make sure Freya OK.

    I liked seeing Cason help Freya live her Christmas dream in this small town all the while they were falling for each other.

    Hunt's happy for his coupled up co-workers but ready for his own HEA. He's headed to remote cabin for 3 weeks of R & R with his faithful K9 partner Aries when the dog alerts to a victim. They find Freya in the snow not far from death. His cabin is the closest warm place and they end up snowed in for several days. Despite only just meeting they quickly develop feelings. Cue the cuddling and steamy togetherness to keep the cold at bay.. Unfortunately the circumstances leading to their meeting and forced togetherness also mean danger. Hunt will fight for his woman and Freya is a survivor.

    I like this series but deducted a star for a couple reasons: Aries scented Freya from inside the SUV when she was several yards from the road which seems improbable; given the way he found her which at least raised the possibility of foul play, Hunt never says anything when he suspects the danger isn't over; lastly Freya doesn't say anything despite believing she's being targeted. I get denial but after almost dying from exposure where's her sense of self preservation?

    What happened to Freya wasn’t really a mystery, but if her attacker would return provided plenty of suspense to the story. She’s lucky that Hunt’s amazing search and rescue dog Aires found her. Their romance burns hot quickly, but he keeps having to leave her behind to go out of rescues and she keeps her memories and gut feelings inside instead of telling him. I was surprised he didn’t arrange to have her stay some place safer. I thought it was sweet that despite all she’s been through Freya loves Christmas.
