Jude Ouvrard is a mom, a girlfriend, a sister, and a daughter... well, you get the idea.

She’s also an avid reader and writer. Ouvrard loves books—the words in them, and the worlds of fantasy they create. Basically, she’s a sucker for any type of romance book. That’s her thing.

Born and raised in a small village in the Canadian countryside, it’s been nearly two decades since she moved out of the family home to go explore and enjoy the city life. Living with her longtime boyfriend, their son, and their fur babies in Montreal, her days are labored away at a law firm while she lives her dream job by night. Writing. Creating. Giving shape and form to the characters who whisper their stories in her head.

Ouvrard writes new adult, military, and contemporary romance tales filled with drama, love, and everything in between.

I received an ARC for Not Afraid To Love You by Jude Ouvrard.
    (Ink Series-Spin Off)

From the very beginning this book was gripping. Some parts I felt a lump form in my throat and other parts I felt giddy and hopeful. Lilly was living in a nightmare a viscous cycle of being abused followed up with apologies. Logically she knew she had to get out of this toxic relationship, I felt that she didn't know how to brake away, the fact she had been isolated from her family, her old town, and friends, and that she didn't even recognize herself anymore she made excuses. When an opportunity presents itself, no matter her fear she runs. She packs it all up, grabs what she can, and takes her dog to find her way back to her town and her family.
It was a beautiful reunion. I fell in love with her sister Abbey(and Abbey’s boyfriend Logan!!) and their brother Matthew. My heart broke for them all. It was obvious that it was Lilly’s struggle, but this affected her siblings just as much, and they wanted to protect her from her evil ex.

“I’ll never trust you.” I say and he looks hurt. “I trusted him, at first.”

I have that line highlighted, that one simple line says so much when she is reunited with her childhood crush Lennox. I give her so much credit she ended up being strong enough to get away from a nightmare, but she had to trust herself first in order to adapt, find her passion in life, and to love. Each scene I could feel how humiliated Lilly was, despite all the bruises, the words is what tore her a part, cut her down, the bruises were a symbol of what she had been through and she didn’t want her family, especially Lennox to see them. This sounds emotional right?? I promise you the author is really amazing at showing us Lilly adapting again, growing stronger, and her light shines through and catches the eye of Lennox.

Lennox had liked Lilly, he may have been a bit guarded when they were young due to the fact he was a little older and he is her brother’s best friend. When they reunite Lilly is wounded, but I think that even though he had to see her at her darkest times, her courage impresses him, her beauty, the fact she wants to regain her spirit. He falls fast and hard for her and wants to face her demons with her.

I love the scenes they get to know one another and talk, Lennox is so masculine, but she brings out a soft side to him, he is after all her “bear.” I love their banter, and when they make love for the first time. There is definitely a lot to the story it isn’t driven by sex scenes, it is romantic and suspenseful. I was surprised at a twist in this book. It is a twist that proves that we are all human, we all face something, and in this book Lilly isn’t the only one facing demons.

“I’ll win this fight. The one where I’m fighting against her nightmares and trying to knock them out. I swear I will.

looking forward to more from this author!

Not Afraid to Love You is a two fold love story of learning to love yourself and sharing that love with your soul mate. Lilly McCarthy has just come out of a toxic and abusive relationship. That last episode of abuse, followed by an apology was the last straw for Lilly. She packed up and left everything to return home to her family - her safe haven. She arrived broken, both physically and emotionally and you could just feel her emotions. My heart ached for her. I must say, the author picked the perfect name for her character. Lilly (the flower) symbolizes rebirthing and reclaiming - both of which Lilly did (on her own terms)
Enter Lennox Love, best friend of Lilly's brother and her childhood crush. He's hot, he's a cop and he wants Lilly. Broken and frail as she is, Lennox patiently works with her to overcome her fears and insecurities. He falls in love with her and just when you think they are going to ride off into the sunset together...BAM! The absolute unthinkable happens. Once again, the author picked the perfect name for her male character, Lennox. When I hear the word Lennox, I think of the fine china. Like a broken piece of fine china, Lennox Love becomes a broken man because of an act. Can this perfect, loving and strong man survive? Will the demons destroy what he and Lilly have worked so hard for? I'm not giving spoilers, but I will tell you that the story of Lilly and Lennox is a beautiful one. I'm hoping there will be a follow up? I read the first book in this series, Body Ink and Soul so was so pleased to see/hear from the other characters, namely Levi and Nix <3

I think there are no words to explain how I felt about this book because it did touch on a hard topic for me to read. It is definitely a taboo topic but I felt that Jude Ouvrard did a fantastic job at creating an epic romance that we oh so crave. But it was rushed, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Rushed on the characters, the plot line, and the ending goal with the climax.

This is a book that I liked to read but probably will not read until I am craving this romance again. The best way that I can talk about this book without any spoilers is that your heart will be broken and mended at the same time. Time to move on the next review, Amy's Review Obsession but I can promise you this is that you will enjoy this book.

    Thanks, Jude!

This was my first first time reading anything by Jude Ouvrard and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. Jude Ouvrard has given us one lovable story that will suck you in and keep you there from start to finish ,and then leave you wanting more from this author. This is a story of reclaiming lost and how to become stronger. Poor Lilly -Rose McCarthy is in abusive relationship and wants to leave ,but she's struggling with it until her sister Abbey asks her to come home to Spokee .But Lilly is still scared that Dave will find her,so she's always will be looking over her shoulder. So she does what she needs to do she moves in with her brothers best friend and her childhood crush Lennox ,he just happens to have an apartment that she can rent .Soon she gets a job ,but really all she wants is to reclaim her life and so she starts to get closer to Lennox again, but soon it comes very clear that she's not out of danger yet. But Lennox feels he has failed her ,so will he push her out of his life? The problem with him is he always expects to much from himself, and then he thinks he has failed everyone else .so then he just pushes everyone away. The characters were written excellently and the secondary characters like Abbey .Logan and Matt were amazing also and really helped this story to flow smoothly. I could tell you more about this great story but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story ,you won't be disappointed
