Who's Killing the Fountain of Youth?: (Old Guys Murder Mystery #2) Paperback – February 26, 2022
Purchase options and add-ons
That’s the first question late-blooming amateur sleuths and retirees Charlie North and Ben Tucker need to answer.
Here’s Question #2. Are Charlie and Ben prime targets to be killed? The answer is yes, of course.
And here’s Question #3. Would a Cougar be interested in a 70ish-year-old guy? It seems like a totally outrageous question when we’re talking murder, but SPOILER ALERT, the answer is yes.)
Charlie and Ben team up again with the stunning P.I. Reggie Parker, the daughter of a retired LAPD buddy. Their job? Stop the murders at the most wildly upscale—and mysterious—retirement village, Elysian Meadowlands.
The retirees in the village are far more vibrant than their ages would allow. Some are alluring Cougars. Some are way more sinister than Charley and Ben would like. The murders continue, and it looks like there’s more coming.
Catching the killer will keep you guessing to the end, and then you’ll wonder about the secrets of Elysian Meadowlands long after you’ve finished the book.
If you’re of age, you’ll love this story because the author is a real-life old guy who certainly knows the aches of being old but also the joy and the humor of it all.
This is a fast read. Old guys like things fast.
WARNING: Don’t buy this book if you feel uncomfortable laughing out loud every so often. If you’re looking for a gritty crime thriller, this is NOT that type of book. Seriously, laughing is good.

About the author

I’m still trying to get my head around the fact that ‘Take Out’ can mean food, dating, or murder.
Somewhere squishing around that thought, I write murder mysteries about old guys solving murders. If you’re under 40, you should pass on these novels. Wait at least ten years, then you’ll enjoy and appreciate them more.
If, however, you’re over 50, these mysteries might hit your sweet spot, well worth the try.
I’m a Wall Street Journal best-selling author, having written nine novels and four non-fiction books. The Old Guys Murder Mystery series has been, by far, the most fun.
The Old Guys Murder Mystery books are fast reads. Old guys like things fast.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2023Once again, aging holds center stage. It's a bit of a fantastical premise, but still intriguing.
Satisfying ending. But I still want the chemical formula of the water...
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2024I loved this story!!! and I read so many books and don't write reviews often unless it really grabs me. I didn't read the first novel by this author and I will, but this was just fine
as a stand alone novel. The characters were so well developed and engaging. The concept is unique but relatable and it moved along at a good pace. Two retired friends go undercover to investigate why people are dying in a utopian community for the uber wealthy, retirees where they can look, act and feel younger due to the supremely healthy lifestyle...which of course includes the water. Who wouldn't want that???? but there are conditions.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2023Like the first book Who Is Killing My Old Girlfriends, this was a lot of fun and very imaginative. I won’t ruin it for you by telling the story but he did a good job. I enjoyed it. The fatal flaw is that he needed a kid to have done something he wanted the kid to be some left-wing weirdo. OK fine, no problem however, he used Antifa as being the source of this kid. That’s OK too I guess if he had been true to what Antifa actually is but in fact, he made it into some thing that ignorant people accuse it of, but it’s not so frankly he should’ve either been truthful, about Antifa, or made up a totally different group the fact that he didn’t was lazy and really not up to what this guy should be writing about. I will read the next one however, that part was disappointing

- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2024This was an enjoyable story, even if the plot was far-fetched. I appreciated the quotes on the subject of aging that opened each chapter. There are a couple of typos in the book. But it inspired me to (try to) eat healthier!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2024This is a great story. I liked the setting, the characters, the story, it all meshed together perfectly. I didn't spot any holes in the story. Charlie is a retired journalist and Ben is a retired cop.
Charlie and Ben have been hired to go undercover at an exclusive resort for millionaires to look into some suspicious deaths, and they will be staying at the expensive resort posing as millionaires.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strangely interesting
A retirement complex which costs millions to live in has Charlie, Ben and Co investigating the deaths of two people, followed by other deaths among people who live to 90s + but look much younger. Its down to a pond or beans or the strict vegan diet lots of suspects .

4.0 out of 5 stars when can I move in
I like the sound of this retirement village very much. Only problem being I couldn’t in any way qualify.! If the vegan food was as good as written I’d even enjoy that
