The Operator (Bill Blake Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 782 ratings

"If you like Lee Child or Scott Mariani, you cannot fail to enjoy this book." Amazon Review.

THE OPERATOR IS ONE MAN AGAINST THE MACHINE

Bill Blake is a senior officer inside D19, a cadre of hand-picked SAS soldiers designed to be an elite within the elite but when a raid on a Russian safehouse goes wildly wrong and his own men try to kill him, the hunter becomes the hunted. Blake finds himself on the run and desperate to clear his name. Then, he defends a young woman from the brutal violence of her drug-dealing boyfriend and soon realises he has two battles on his hands. Blake is now an outlaw. A rogue special operative out in the cold. The only way he can clear his name and save his life is to follow the dark, lethal trail of conspiracy that goes right to the very top of the British Government. Everything is stacked against him in this fast-paced, high-octane action crime thriller. For fans of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp and Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne.

What Amazon readers are saying about The Operator (Bill Blake 1):

★★★★★ “One of the best books I have ever read.”

★★★★★ “The story is gripping and fast moving and Blake is a character I really hope Rob Jones writes more stories about. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.”

★★★★★ “The only problem is that you turn the pages so quickly!”

★★★★★ “If you like the Ben Hope or Reacher style of character then you won't be disappointed. It's all action style kept me reading on and on.”

★★★★★ “Having read most ex-SAS operative books from authors such as Stephen Leather, Scott Mariani, Mark Dawson to name a few, I can vouch that this is right up there.”

The Operator is as real as it gets. No more shooting to wound. In a serious situation you shoot to kill. Half Col Blake knows the drill and takes charge. A very good read.

wonderful story that is a stand alone. Wish there were sequels coming.
Main character gets betrayed by almost everyone and is at wits end to barely stay one step ahead of the hovernment tracking him down.

What do you mean no sequel? You have a great character here, you just can’t stop this story! Please reconsider. Characters like him are hard to find and good authors even more so!

Very entertaining, a hero one would be proud to call a friend. Leaves the reader waiting for his next adventure.

Fast moving, and tightly written. Like Jack Reacher, a story with loose ends that beg at least one or two follow-ups, please!

Rob Jones, you have another hit. This was a very exciting story. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to see where Bill Blake goes from here.. I loved every bit of it.

Enjoyed the book. Blake is a likable character. It ended the way one would hope life turns out. The bad guys get their due in the end.

I love these types of books and whilst waiting for Joe Hawke book 15 thought I would try this by the same author to be honest with no great expectations. How wrong was I. Well written, fast paced, plenty of action and with a decent plot and side plot. The characters gelled and were believable. If you like Lee Child or Scott Mariani you can not fail to enjoy this book. The only big disappointment is the author stating in his notes that this is a stand-alone book. Please rethink this as I for one would like to see where Bill Blake goes and I expect plenty of others will.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book starts with a bang and stays at that pace till the end.

First book by this author for me and a standalone thriller, sadly.

I am ready for book 2, shame!

This book starts with a bang and stays at that pace till the end, action packed, fast paced, interesting thriller, great lead character. A quick read at 187 pages.

Bill Blake is a senior officer inside D19, a cadre of hand-picked SAS soldiers designed to be an elite within the elite but when a raid on a Russian safehouse goes wildly wrong and his own men try to kill him, the hunter becomes the hunted. Everything is stacked against him in this fast-paced, high-octane action crime thriller.

For fans of Tom Wood's Victor , Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, Mark Greaney's The Gray Man, Mark Dawson's, Beatrix Rose, Gregg Hurwitz's Nowhere Man, Kerry J Donovans Ryan Kaine and many more I could name of favourite author books and characters that I enjoy so much.

    Recommended. Four stars.

This was a new author for me. I very much enjoyed the writing style and plot in this one off and stand alone book. The author stated there would not be a sequel. This is a shame because I liked the character and, for me at least, there is a lot of scope for more storylines. I look forward to reading some other books written by Rob Jones. A big thank you to the author and a well deserved 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3.0 out of 5 stars Had so much potential
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 28, 2021
It started off with a bang but quickly felt like it was self indulgent rushed fantasy. So many plot holes and poor spelling; very distracting. As for it being written in the first person narrative, instead of making me feel like I was experiencing it too it felt more like the ramblings of a teenage fantasist pretending to be his superhero.

Too much unnecessary detail about concrete batching plants and not enough attention paid to the gaping plot holes and unbelievable reasoning.

Instead of feeling sad that I had come to the end of my journey I actually was relieved to finish it; that in itself is a damned shame.

Good read, fast moving with some minor errors that do nothing detract from a solid plot. Protagonist is likable and doesn't deviate into non essential past.
