Obsessed (Whiskey Run Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,388 ratings

She’s loved him since high school and now he’s back.

First I don’t remember her.

Then I insult her.

I don’t mean to, but I’m used to being around rough military men,

Not sensitive, beautiful women.

She’s been the one that sent me care packages.

And she’s the one that caught my eye.

I’m obsessed. All I can do is think of her.

But no matter how many times I ask,

She’s not willing to go out with me.

When her safety comes into question,

She no longer has a choice because whether she wants me to or not,

I’m going to keep her safe...

and then I’m going to make her mine.

This is the third story in the Whiskey Run series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend they be read in publication date for maximum reader satisfaction. There are some reoccurring characters, including the town matchmaker and diner owner, Violet.

These have been very fast reads, with a surprising amount of detail built in. I am loving the continuity of this series and the ‘matchmaker’ angle.

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There were only a few grammatical issues, such as missing words, incorrect punctuation and a technical inconsistency with the data concerning Sierra’s work. Normally I lower the rating for something relating to the main characters, but this could be construed either way. This is because when Evan asked what was her work again, Violet said she hadn’t told her yet, but she had. When she first started talking about Sierra’s attributes, Violet told him she was the youngest librarian ever hired by the town. Where else would Sierra work in a town the size of Whiskey Run but the library?

⛔️ Contains scenes that may be a trigger or offensive for sensitive readers. These include adult language, mental health challenges with depression, maybe PTSD from military, etc. adult intimate scenes, and violence through references to military service.

Here is how the story begins:

Violet is at it again …

Sierra delivers some books to fear good friend and fellow book club member, Violet, at her diner because she doesn’t have time to go by the library. While she is there, Evan, the crush she just can’t get over walks into the diner.

Evan was Honorably Discharged from the Army a little over a month ago after developing vertigo. Nothing has worked and he just couldn’t stay on active duty with it, so he is back home working at his family’s security business. Evan has been doing his best to avoid everyone since he came back, but he knows he needs to get out and about. That is why he heads to the diner to speak with Violet about upgrading her security system.

When he arrives, he immediately notices the curvy female speaking with Violet. She looks very familiar, and she has definitely caught his attention, but he just can’t place her immediately. This comes back to bite him when he is informed that it is Sierra … the same Sierra that helped him pass a certain math class in high school … the same Sierra that he used to think about periodically but knew he didn’t have a chance with because she was too good, smart for a jock. That Sierra.

Then Evan sees the look on Sierra’s face when he doesn’t recognize her straight off and THEN he makes it worse unintentionally … he meant it as a compliment, but could see how it could be interpreted differently. Then Violet tells him all about what Sierra did in regards to the weekly care packages he received while overseas … the thing he looked forward to every week to give him the connection to his hometown … Oh boy, can he rectify this?

Sierra and Evan went to high school together but weren't in the same circles. After getting discharged from the military for a military condition Evan has come back home. When Sierra runs into him and he doesn't remember her it turns her back into her teenage self. She goes and hides out at the library she works at. When Evan realizes who it was he had been talking to and what she had done for him while he was away he knew he needed to see her again. However when she refused to go out with him Evan made it his mission to convince her that he was serious about going out with her. When he learns that she has a stalker its not long before he steps in to help her. Will Sierra take a chance on Evan? Can they be together?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

While I enjoyed the story, it wasn't as good as I expected. I liked Evan but Sierra was annoying at times. They went to high school together before Evan joined the army. Sierra had a major crush on Evan in high school but didn't think he ever noticed her. She was a skinny nerd back then but had since filled out into a BBW, who was self conscious and had almost no confidence. She was annoying with her blowing hot and cold with Evan, although she really wanted him. What also annoyed me about her is she had a stalker and wouldn't have told her friend Violet or Evan if they hadn't insisted. Don't get me wrong, she was a nice, caring person, as evidenced by her concern over Evan's vertigo and how cared about her friends, just annoying at times.

There were a fair amount of grammatical errors, like words left out, words missing, etc. There were two epilogues but the second one was a let down. It was basically a blurb about Violet's story. Would've liked to see where Evan and Sierra were down the road since Evan really wanted to have a baby with Sierra. All that being said, the story was good.

This book was so good. I loved every page from start to finish. Evan is back from the Army. Sierra is the town librarian and has the biggest crush on Evan. Has for years. When he ask her out she turns him down flat. He can't fathom why. So when she needs a new security system. This is his chance to win her over.

Short, sweet and to the point, I’m truly amazed by how much character development Ford manages to squeeze into 92 pages. Although this one wasn’t my favorite I’ve read, that by no means makes it bad. Evan is a truly wonderful hero and I think all of us have a bit of Sierra inside. It was lovely read

Unrequited love, what could be more satisfying than seeing it unfold?! And that zinger at the end?! Can’t wait to read about it.

Yet another astonishing story by the author. Sierra deserved her HEA after such a long wait. It was fascinating to read Evan finally notice and fall in love with Sierra.
Yet another couple Violet played cupid for😉.
It was a short but an amazing read.
It can be read as standalone but would suggest to read the complete seried😁.

Why can't we all have an Evan? Kind, considerate, respectful but not lacking at all testosteronewise which comes with an enormous drive to protect. Well, I know they don't exist but we can dream, right? 😊 Thank you Hope for one more of your delightful works. 😉

I seldom give short book more than 3 stars, honestly there isn’t enough time to really build a good story, a sympathetic background on both characters (to make me actively care about them enough to rout for their HEA) and a believable romance, I’m all over instant love but not so much instant trust. That said, this one is very nearly a 5 star, I fell for Evan pretty quickly and poor Sierra, well I think most of us have a little Sierra inside us so feeling for her wasn’t hard. Love them together and I’m loving this series.
