Of Redemption and Vengeance (Winsford Shifters Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,172 ratings

Emery
It all comes down to this.

I should have known my freedom from Mercer would only last so long before my pack was hunted down and I was dragged back into it all. It’s suffocating being back in this place that twisted my shifter side forever and threatened to change who I am. But this time is different.

Because I’m not alone.

As threats to us and our pack pile up, I’m forced to rely on Graham, the overly protective shifter I feel a strange pull toward. We know we have to get away to warn the others of what’s to come, but with Mercer’s shifters breathing down our necks, we’re being thrust into a fight for our lives. We are determined to make it back to the pack and tear down the threat before it consumes all of us.

Graham
I’ve literally never met a more stubborn man in my life than Emery, yet I can’t get him out of my head. He covers up his insecurities and concerns with snark and teasing, but I know that underneath it all is a man who just wants someone to give him a chance. And I’m prepared to be that person if we can fight our way through this. First, we have to escape the threat left behind by Mercer, but escaping isn’t enough. We need to destroy everything the group’s ever worked for to keep each other and our pack safe.

Join Graham, Emery, Rowan, and Quinn for the exciting conclusion to the Winsford Shifters trilogy. This series contains action-filled romance with a dash of comedy, and should be read in order.

Slightly damaged.
I love the series and I'm sure I'm going to love this book. I'm just disappointed in the packaging because the book is slightly damaged. I care about my books and I like to keep them in good condition so it sucks that I just paid full price for a book that is damaged.

This series has kept me on the edge of my seat as Quinn, Rowan, Graham, and Emery have been trying to escape Mercer, Stone, and the corporation that has funded all of Stone’s research. I loved the ending of this book and am a little sad that it’s over. Here’s hoping that Alice Winters takes pity on us and gives us some short stories or something involving our favorite pack of misfits. And I am still in love with our big goofy Floofdaddy. He is so adorable and goofy when shifted. Quinn and the others will never let him live anything down. (Snicker…stuck in a tree). Emery is slowly realizing he has a place in their pack with Graham’s help and Ari is still pouncing on people. This story has enough danger and excitement to keep you on the edge of your seat but enough laughter and love to keep you going. Another great story!

I wanted to love this one and did, in a few areas, but it just doesn't rate higher than 4.25 for me. I loved finally getting Graham's perspective on pining for Emery. There just isn't enough of him featured. Even though this installment does focus more on Emery and Graham, it's still the conclusion of a trilogy that focused almost exclusively on Quinn and Rowan in the first two books so we still get their perspectives in this one along with Emery and Graham. It's fine. I like all of these main characters enough to enjoy their POVs, but with all the action and twists and plot threads getting dealt with in this I feel like we got shorted on an actual romance between Emery and Graham.

The fact that new plot points popped up well into this story also dimmed my enjoyment. This is the conclusion. Have plans to be wrapping it all up, not throwing in some third act twist that you forget to finish off. Which of Mercer's shifters was Katalina's brother???? It almost seems like it could be Emery, but it's most likely Raylon, but it clearly doesn't matter because she never says. She says she went along with Mercer's evil agenda because he promised to fix her brother as she reveals that she had had two beaten by humans for being shifters and one died, but the other survived with no memories of his life before the attack and it was from that condition Mercer got a hold of him to begin testing. Was her brother one of the early failed experiments that died and Mercer never told her? If he was Raylon, why was there no scene where she learns about his fate? Quinn wonders in the epilogue what to do with her, but spares no thought to the apparently throwaway revelation that she did it all for a brother whose fate is left unaddressed. Were we, as readers, supposed to forget that part? It would be easy to do with all that got thrown into this amid cute couplely moments between the main pairings, but it needed to be more buried in the story to be forgettable. Throwing it in at the last 25% or so makes it feel like it matters to the climax of the story when it absolutely does not. Much like whatever "gift" to the pack Ethan was meant to be. It's set up from the beginning that he's going to be some Trojan horse against Quinn, but that goes nowhere. What does eventually happen seems incredibly random, while Mercer's shifters taunted Emery like Ethan was part of some revenge scheme against the pack that Emery was powerless to stop. It again just makes this all feel like ideas got away from the author and spread wildly from the original outlines. You can tell there was plotting, planning and thought for this whole series, but it just needed some edits to execute all the ideas to their fullest. The dystopian elements continued to jar against the cutesy paranormal romance moments and ridiculousness like Rowan dangling from a tree branch by his belt because he shifted to chase a squirrel and failed to get all of his clothes off before climbing the tree. It's a stupidly cute moment against what's about to happen to Endo and the discoveries Emery is about to make. This installment definitely buttons it up a lot more to try being more serious given what Graham and Emery face and all that Emery has dealt with. I just wanted more of that to wrap things up.

This probably feels more negative than a 4 star rating should be, but I was into it. I read the three books in this series pretty quickly for what my work, real life and chronic distractions allow and I did really like the series as a whole. It's a lot of what I enjoy and expect from this author with some interesting departures and I just wish they had explored that more because this shows that they can write darker, more serious themes.

Of Redemption and Vengeance is a perfect ending for this series. I’m going to miss these characters and this strange and dangerous world the author created.
I enjoyed the storyline and its twists and turns. The characters keep the flow going with a bit of angst, a good dose of fear, and no small amount of humor. There is some good action and suspense. I felt like I was waiting for something, though. Like I was being prepared for something that never happened. The seriousness of the scenes keeps the playful times to a minimum, but there are enough to appease our need for the Alice Winters ROFL experience.
I’m glad that Quinn and Rowan have active voices. They are such integral parts of the story that it would not be enough to only hear from Emery and Graham. Rowan cracked me up like he always does.
Graham and Emery ended up being a good couple. Graham has patience that I would never have credited him with based on the previous books. He is more like Quinn than I thought.
Emery is well-written with his PTSD tendencies and harsh backstory. Emery, in a playful mood, is hilarious and a little bit selfish. I love it. Their sexy times are brief, a little awkward at first, but satisfying in the end. No pun intended.
Ari always steals the show, though. He is absolutely hilarious, and I wish I could see more of him all the time.
I’m sorry to see this end.
I look forward to more from this author.

I love Alice Winters’ books, and this was no exception. It was exciting, touching, and (of course) funny! I laughed out loud more than once at Ari’s antics and Emery’s snark. While her style doesn’t vary, I thought Emery and Graham were two of her more original characters. Emery is very vulnerable under all that attitude, and Graham is gentler with him than one would expect from his introduction to Rowan in the first book. I didn’t feel like she ret-conned Graham’s personality, more that he had hidden depths that needed Emery to come to light. This was an action-packed ending for the trilogy, and I felt it was more straightforward than the second book, which got a little tedious in the constant setbacks. This one had plot twists, but they didn’t make me gnash my teeth. I’ll miss these characters and come back to read their stories again, I’m sure. That’s the highest compliment I can give.

This series was fantastic! I enjoyed all three books. I will admit I only reviewed this last one because I wanted to see how it ended first. All the books had great storylines and they build on each other perfectly. I would have liked to seen Brennan get his happy ever after so I wouldn't mind a storyline just for him. You can't help but love Ari and seeing how he and Logan met would be great. See all the characters were so good I wanted them all to have stories. You will definitely laugh out loud about some of the antics the characters get up to between the action. Highly recommend reading the series! ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ten stars for mm shifter series

One of the things that I love about Alice Winters writing is the way she paces her stories. That may seem to be a weird thing to compliment her on, but I have read too many books that do not have her deft touch with fast and slow, heavy and light, sad and funny and so much more. I start to read one of her books and I have a really difficult time putting it down. Her characters are fully formed and are never one sided. Even the ultimate villain of this trilogy has good points to them. The couples are fun to read and the floofy oh my the floofy in the tree with the belt. I laughed so hard and I love him. To understand that you will have to read the series and I definitely recommend that you do read it but it is a set of books that you must read in order as there is a definite story arc through all three. I give this series ten stars.

If you love snark and sass, this series have it in spades. It’s funny, I laughed out loud so many times, the action scenes are very thrilling, the sex scenes are hot, and the storyline is great. I read the whole series in under two days. When I couldn’t read, I listened to them on audible.

5.0 out of 5 stars l'histoire de Graham et Emery
Reviewed in France on July 6, 2021

Mercer is gone, but Emery and Graham have been captured by Stone. Quinn and Rowan must hurry if they want to find them and rescue them before it's too late. There is more action in this book than in the second book. It's almost non-stop action, betrayal, secrets revealed, and life-threatening situations.

There is one main plotline in this book, which is to finally get rid of Mercer, and his crew, and go back to live happily ever after in the village. The book starts with two different "sub plotlines" as Emery and Graham are captive, and Quinn and Rowan are trying to find them to rescue them. Then, Rowan, and Quinn get separated too, so we follow Quinn who is on a mission to find everybody, Rowan who is trying to survive, while also searching for the rest of his pack, and Emery and Graham who are trying to escape and find their way back home. I am not the biggest fan of books where the main characters are separated, but it actually worked well in this one because of the fast pace, all the action, and the fact that I knew they would eventually all find their way back to each other.
