One Good Thing (+One Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 345 ratings

When Greyson Forrester receives an invitation to his cousin’s wedding, he knows he can’t refuse—even if the groom is his ex-fiancé. If he doesn’t go, people might think he still cares, which he doesn’t, thank you very much. Showing up alone isn’t any better, but he has neither the time nor the inclination to jump back into the dating scene.

So, what’s a guy to do? Hire a fake boyfriend, of course!

+One isn’t a dating agency. Fine. He’s not looking to make a love connection, just survive one week with even a shred of dignity intact. Then, Jace Harkins walks through the door, and Greyson knows he’s in trouble. Jace is the total package—successful, witty, gorgeous—but falling for him wasn’t supposed to happen.

Yet, every smile, every touch, every whispered endearment pulls him in a little deeper until the line between reality and fantasy begins to blur. Too bad it can’t last.

After all, it’s just make-believe, right?

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Arden writes steamy m/m paranormal romance filled with fangs, mischief, and reluctant fated mates—because happily ever afters are best served with a side of chaos.

A true romantic at heart, she’s drawn to the tragically beautiful and the beautifully broken—those flawed men and the stories that make them heroes.

She’s been writing since she could hold a crayon and a juice box but has since upgraded to slightly more sophisticated tools. (And traded the juice boxes for an unhealthy amount of coffee).

When she’s not writing, she’s either lost in a good book or bingeing true crime podcasts—because nothing says romance author like an encyclopedic knowledge of murder.

I already love Arden Steele’s paranormal books, so reading a contemporary book was just as good! I absolutely loved Jace and Greyson and how they started their “fake” relationship!

This was my first book by this Author, but it won't be my last! I really enjoyed this quick read. I found it to be well written, the characters were developed, believable; especially, Grayson and Jace. My only comment is I wish this story had a "Prequal Story" prior to the release of this book, I think the background story would have cemented Jace's feeling more. However, that said the plot and story lines of this book flow well and are consistent. It is an overall enjoyable read! I would recommend this book for anyone who wanted a nice 2-hour read. It does have an idiotic ex 2 timing.. jerk.. cheating.. boyfriend "Dustin" (do you get the idea that maybe I did not like him??) And Jace's Cousin, Eva; who had a sexual escapade in the family's summer home shower compound and Jace happened to walk in on them right in the middle of it all! And to make matters worse; neither of these douche bags had the decency to even act contrite or apologize or anything! So yeah, in my opinion he is a real "DOUCHE BAG JERK" Anyway, the book has some really good moments in it and is well worth your time! I am looking forward to reading my next book by Ms. Steele. An avid reader in Rock Tavern, NY.

A few typos, but didn’t take from the story. The mc’s were awesome and I think everyone needs a little bit of a jace in their lives. The only thing I wish was that it was a little longer, I didn’t want it to end :)

This is a book I'd rather have read in one sitting, had that been possible. (Darn that project I'm having to work on---the one I'm three weeks behind on!). I just returned the book on Kindle Unlimited and will buy it in about two minutes to have permanently. It's good for at least one more read, perhaps more than that.

I actually really like this book. My only issue was I wanted more interaction with the ex. I was expecting more drama, so my disappoint from that has led me to a four star 🌟. Characters in books shouldn't be nice always, because people are not nice in real life when it comes to relationships.

Decent character development and a supporting cast with a suitably “evil” ex-boyfriend and ex-friend. A bit of fun and light comedy, with romance. Ends on an upbeat positive promise.

This started out cute and enjoyable to read. It didn’t stay that way for very long, though. I liked the characters, including the minor side cast. They were developed nicely and were quite likable. And the story was promising at first too. It didn’t take long to realize the story really wasn’t going anywhere and it stalled into a boring quagmire after a few cute meetups by the MCs. What ruined the book the most, however, were the errors. Misused words, some not even homonyms, made the writing cringe-worthy a few times but it was proofread somewhat competently otherwise. But I find it difficult to believe there was an editor or copy editor. At one point the guys attend the 4th birthday party of a friend’s little girl. The present Jace picked out? A leather bound journal. The little girl then proceeds to write an entire paragraph of complete and accurately punctuated sentences. I take it the author has little experience with children because this was pretty ridiculous. It was at that point I realized that I probably shouldn’t bother struggling to force myself to keep reading. I’d already had to drag my attention back to the book dozens of times thinking there may be improvement just around the corner. This clinched it though.
I really can’t recommend this book for readers who have higher standards for the books they read.

This was so cute! I needed a short and sweet book to get the out of a reading slump and this was it!

My only drawback was that Greyson was too forgiving. I'm so petty and would have loved to see Eva and Dustin to get taken down publicly. Greyson is a bigger person than me!

This is one of the sweetest fake boyfriend themes I've read, and I've read a few! The hired boyfriend, Jace, quickly fell for Greyson, although Greyson was so worked up and nervous about the wedding of his ex it took a while for the penny to drop. A totally sweet and tender story in one of my favourite themes, fake boyfriend, they always end up cute and squishy.
