One Hot Winter's Night (Serenity's Standalones Book 2) Kindle Edition
Dr. Cat Livingstone works for the British Museum, and she’s frustrated as hell when the mysterious man she knows only as the Silver Fox snatches yet another artifact from under her nose. Determined to steal the priceless necklace back, she tracks him to the Swedish Ice Hotel, but she doesn’t bank on him being the most gorgeous guy she’s ever laid eyes on.
Dr. Heath Roberts has no idea the hot blonde in the ice-cold Absolut Icebar is his nemesis, the Black Cat. In the mood for a one-night stand, he asks her back to his room. But when a night between the sheets ends with both Cat and the necklace gone in the morning, Heath jumps into action. Unfortunately for Cat, Heath lives for the thrill of the chase. And the chase is on.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"If you are looking for a short but hot book to kick off your summer reading, well this is the book for you! This easy read romance is just what I needed when I picked it up for the first time. The only reason I put it down was to feed the kiddos (why do they have to eat so often!). As soon as I could I picked it right back up and finished it!" Paulette's Papers
"One Hot Winter's Night is a fabulously romantic read that may make you slightly resent your significant other... Cat's nervous banter and tendency to spout off historical facts while naked absolutely cracked me up and I enjoyed Heath's amused yet respectful reactions. This entire book is highly romantic and sweet but don't think that it means the sex is weak...in fact it's extremely passionate and playful and decadent." - Just Erotic Romance Reviews
From the Inside Flap
He scooped up the last of his dessert. "I don't know any famous foxes, but I'm sure you're about to enlighten me."
"For being sly, sneaky, and cunning."
He licked his spoon. His eyes twinkled. "A cunning linguist?"
She rolled her eyes. "And a master debater? Yes, I've watched Austin Powers too."
He grinned. "Actually, that reminds me of a quote from Hamlet: 'Alas poor Yorick, I knew him, Fellatio.'"
They both burst out laughing. Everyone at the table looked over at them, and Cat bit her lip, leaning back as the waiter placed a coffee before her. She glanced at Alexander, who was frowning at her. "Care to share the joke?" he asked.
Cat didn't dare look at Heath. "We were just talking about Shakespeare." She sipped her coffee.
Heath scooped a spoon of sugar into his cup. "We were discussing A Midsummer Night's Dream and debating the best actor to play Flute."
Cat coughed into her drink. Alexander would be perfectly aware of the Ancient Greek term for oral sex, and she was pretty certain Sayed was too, judging by his raised eyebrows.
Heath blew on the hot liquid in his cup, hiding a smile. She kicked him under the table and he winced.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016This story is set in locations all around the world but it ends in New Zealand, sort of. The hero works in the museum in New Zealand, he is known as the Silver Fox because of his cunning ways and his silver hair. Not grey, silver!! He is one good hearted hunky hero. This guy is easy to love. The heroine works for the museum in London. These two play cat and mouse as they fight each other to gain the best treasures. He has named her the Black Cat. Her name is Catherine so Cat for short!! They finally meet one night in the Ice Hotel. They almost melt the place with the bedroom antics they get into. She has a bit of a surprise for him and he is shocked to discover it!!! Everything changes after this night.
And so the love story begins. There is a lot more adventure and understanding that takes place before these two find their HEA. It is a great read and I definitely recommend it. Very entertaining and a bit different from the usual stories since it is not solely located in New Zealand. It was fun to visit other countries - short visits. A very entertaining read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2015I am in the middle of a week long Serenity Woods marathon with this title being the latest. Loved the idea of two archeologists from different museums chasing after the same artifacts. I was willing to suspend my disbelief and go along for the Black Cat vs. Silver Fox ride.
The "I'm damaged goods" is not my favorite story line. Catherine's sudden turnabout at the end doesn't help. I felt as if her back story didn't have enough weight to it and the ending is quick. Hence four stars instead of five. The steamy scenes are great and Heath makes a good leading man.
Minor quibbles:
Imagine you are in N.Z. and there is a flight leaving to London in 90 minutes that you suddenly need to be on. Given current travel restrictions, even if you lived 10 minutes away from the airport, how would that be possible?
Apparently all Kiwi males ask "if it was nice" after having sex. Having read a number of Ms. Woods' novels in a row, this appears frequently. Nice is such an innocuous word after a steamy interlude. It actually makes me laugh every time it crops up.
I've noticed Ms. Woods has a bit of a penchant for vests/waistcoats. For some reason a number of Kiwi males wear them and the females all find it hot. I love a guy in a suit or a tux, but am not sure the vest adds any extra heat factor.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2019And, life can only get in the way!! What a great story by the wonderful Serenity Woods. I’ll keep the positive’s to a minimum by saying this is a great love story with issues that affect us all. We can only bring the baggage of life to every relationship we enter. What a great love story of first and foremost trust?
After reading ALMOST all of Serenity Woods books and writing glowing reviews... it bothers me as a voracious reader that there are so many typos and grammatical mistakes in her books! They’re not such that they take away from the story... but, for God’s sake I’ll volunteer as your editor just so your great stories are portrayed in the best light. You definitely need a better editor, publisher and whatever else to show your true talent. As a disabled, eight fractured vertebrae and a spine that ha completely collapsed, I’d do your editing for free. Hell, I’ve been bed-ridden for years and would give anything for an Ethan, Dan, Matt or any of the wonderful characters in your books, however also just want your true talents shown in there best light!
If you’ve not read Serenity Woods, give it a book or two, or Skip to the man of your dreams Niihau, in Casanova, and you’ll be addicted!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2020Another very steamy story. As always a very good story. They didn't know each other but had been going after the same find. This time it was too close. She found out he was going to the Ice Hotel. She didn't know how but she was getting that necklace. The description of the Hotel was worth reading the book for. But the story that followed made it hard to leave until it was finished
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2013This is a fun, sweet, steamy romance. I first read the author's free short story "Stranded with a Scotsman", and I enjoyed that story so much that I paid for this one. I was not disappointed! The book has exotic locales and sassy characters like a great Kresley Cole book but without the paranormal element. "One Hot..." has a super hot yet sensitive archaeologist hero that I loved. It was nice that these two museum acquisitions people actually paid for artifacts, so it is pretty realistic. I minored in archaeology in college, and nothing in this book offended me; the author did her homework. All in all, I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2018I thought the premise would be interesting. But all it was about was having sex. Now i ammfar from a prude but there really was no story at all. They hook up, steal back what they bought, the whole book basically takes place in the bedroom. Where was the story?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2013I had to write a review and say how much I loooooved this book. It's a fun, sexy read. The banter between Heath and Cat sparkles, is witty and fun to read.
This romance has it all especially with a hot, sexy hero who literally walks off the pages. From the first page I was hooked and stayed up late finishing the book.
Thanks Serenity Woods for a fab read :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay read.
Cat meets Heath when she is in Sweden trying to purchase a piece of jewellery for her museum. She is prepared to do just about anything to get it. She is a virgin who decides to sleep with Heath who works for her competition. The story is okay but from being a virgin she seems to up her game in the bedroom super fast!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good
The Cat & The Fox. What started out as a challenge soon ends up with both falling for one another, but can it last.
