One Woman Only: The Good Man Series, Book 2 Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

As far as anyone knows, Jonah Goodman has spent his adult life doing a little of this and a little of that. Everyone thinks he’s good at many things but a master at none. It isn't that he doesn't have the brains or even the heart to be a master. He doesn't have the commitment. He's not like his brother Daniel, so focused on his goal that he blocks out everything else, or his other triplet brother, Mark, to whom focus is unthinkingly part of his genius. Whether his lack of follow through stems from fear or self-doubt, no one but Jonah knows. But it all started his senior year of high school, when he took the virginity of his girl, Kelly Shepherd. He immediately broke up with her and went so far as to drop out of school and move away. Since then, he’s found his place as a simple—but excellent—mechanic, well-known in the world of NASCAR. Now, he's about to meet up with Kelly again in a most interesting venue—his parents' wedding.

Kelly Shepherd has always liked Mr. and Mrs. Goodman. They were the town characters—she a former stripper who had triplets out of wedlock, and he an affable thief who did his time and then came home to be sheltered in the open arms of their small town. Kelly's parents, rich factory owners and employers of most of the town, would never be so loved and appreciated as the Goodmans. Nor would they love each other as the Goodmans did. Or show such open affection for their children. Jonah's parents were one of the reasons Kelly was so happy to start dating him in their senior year. Then she handed over her V-card and everything went to hell. She never even knew why. Now, after a disastrous marriage, a necessary divorce, and a career choice that still disappoints her parents, Kelly is finally returning home to see the couple she most admires marry each other after more than thirty-six years of "living in sin." Her mother's words, not hers. She thinks the one thing spoiling the thought of the weekend is the chance she might see the only man to break her heart. No, not her worthless husband. Jonah Goodman. But there's more, much more ahead.

So after my mom read my first book she said, "Honey, how do you know about all this sex stuff?" I said, "Uh, mom, you know I'm married, right?"

Actually, I never intended to write erotic romance. I never intended to be an author at all--I kinda fell into it. But maybe I have a knack for storytelling. And now I enjoy it. I hope you do, too! Find out more about me on https://nomadauthors.com.

In the Good Man series about a set of triplets, the three brothers are not much alike when it comes to their personalities. All have chosen careers which reflect their talents, and Jonah Goodman is a mechanic working in his uncle’s garage. But underneath his carefree manner is a rather complex man, one he chooses to not disclose to anyone. The woman from his past whom he has never forgotten is Kelly Shepherd, a teacher who has lived through some troubling personal issues, but is trying to make the best of her current life. When a special occasion brings the two back together, many surprises are in store for both of them. I really like how Dee S. Knight makes the story seem constantly believable, where characters come across as very genuine and the situations that they face are also convincingly depicted. ONE WOMAN ONLY is a highly entertaining romance with lots of sincere emotions and sexy encounters.

When Jonah Goodman returns to his hometown in North Carolina for the long overdue wedding of his parents, he knew the likelihood of seeing his high school girlfriend was a very good possibility. Because of the way in which he and Kelly Shepherd parted, he worries she will feel bitter toward him. Their first meeting takes place on the night he gets back home, and his fears are regrettably proven right. But as Jonah and Kelly repeatedly come in contact with each other in the small town, they both find that what they once had together could easily be rekindled, but they will have to decide if the risk to their hearts is worth the chance.

I was pulled into this cleverly executed storyline from the first compelling scene to the last. Jonah and Kelly are a fascinating couple, who have a complicated past. The way in which they separated left each of them confused plus hurting, and seeing one another after eighteen long years have passed brings up many memories. I really enjoyed watching this couple react to one another, especially during their initial meeting, and hearing their inner thoughts also gave me insight into what they were actually feeling. Some family trouble crops up to cause Kelly problems, and these moments were often dramatically portrayed with realistic responses. Information about the first couple in the series let me catch up with their lives, and I am certainly intrigued by the brother whose story is yet untold.

This is the second book in a series, and after reading the first one, I had to pick this up. I was so happy I did! In this book we read about one of the triplets, Jonah, and his reconnection with high school flame, Kelly. Both characters are interesting, and the author delves deeper into their lives and personalities as the story unfolds. The writing was flawless, and the plot had plenty of steamy scenes and humor to keep it moving along. I really disliked Kelly's parents, which was the point.

Jonah and Kelly were high school sweethearts but after one night of passion, Jonah dropped out of her life. Heartbroken, Kelly tried to figure out what happened but to no avail. Flash forward several years, and Kelly returns home for a very happy occasion: Jonah's parents' wedding. She's nervous to see Jonah again but she never expected a second chance at love. Will Jonah mend her broken heart and prove he's the only Good Man for her?

One Woman Only is a second chance romance I read in one sitting. The characters appealed to me right away, though I connected with Kelly on many levels. Her mother made me want to throw things but she was so well-written, I couldn't help but root for Kelly. The chemistry between Kelly and Jonah was off the charts, both in and out of the bedroom. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and this one is truly a gem. Yes, there is a fair amount of angst but it gets worked out realistically which I appreciate. The plot moves at a quick pace. The ending made me cheer. I love the Good Man series and I can't wait to read the next one. Highly recommend!

OH MY GOSH. I COULDN'T HOLD BACK THE TEARS!! I liked Jonah Goodman and Kelly Shepard's story so much that I can't help but want MORE, MORE, AND MORE!! Part of being a triplet, Jonah knew he couldn't compete with his two smarter brothers and one day after he and Kelly made clumsy love for their first time together, he went to stay with his uncle to learn the business that one day would be his. Kelly cried buckets of tears, but moved on and got married for thirteen years before she divorced Brad and took back her maiden name. Now, she taught school and at her parent's demands to come home for Thanksgiving, she got the shock of her life when she learned that her dad was retiring and wanted her to take over the business when his heir and her brother fled. Things had gone from bad to worse when the only man she ever loved came home too.

I loved this book. Jonah and Kelly are very appealing characters and I rooted for them to find happiness together the second time around. I like the way Jonah proves to Kelly that he is the man for her, in and out of the bedroom, by supporting her in her business venture. The secondary characters are nice too. The writing is sparkling and the dialogue zings. Thoroughly recommended.
