Opposing Briefs: An Enemies to Lovers Male/Male Romance (Legally Yours Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 406 ratings

Logan

Am I falling for my enemy... a straight man?

He's my opponent in the courtroom.
He defends the same scumbag criminals I'm trying to put away.
Plus he's my rival in the New York City Marathon.
We're training for a competition between our firms.
And, unlike me, he's not even gay.
So, why do I find myself so damn attracted to him?
His cocky swagger and alpha attitude drive me crazy.
But I'm starting to have as much fun running with him as arguing against him.
I want to show him what other oral skills I possess.

Could there be room in our completely opposite worlds... for each other?

Andrew

Am I falling for my enemy... a gay man?

My whole life, I've done everything right.
Now I'm a big time criminal defense attorney.
But sometimes everything I'm living seems like a lie.
I can't figure out why I'm so attracted to my opposing counsel, Logan.
I've never felt such feelings for another man before.
He's handsome, athletic and intelligent.
I try to tell myself I just want to beat him in court and on the race path.
But deep down I know I want him to take me to the bedroom.
That would ruin my career, and life as I know it.

If I let the real me come out for him, will love destroy us or strengthen us?

They meet while playing flag football, Logan is an openly gay, idealistic asst. district attorney working in the N.Y.C. borough of Manhattan while Andrew is a corporate lawyer who makes millions defending "white collar" criminals. Not only is Andrew living in the "closet" for professional reasons he is married to a vicious, conniving, money hungry women. Author Ian Finn has written a realistic m/m romance where BOTH men must not only compromise but go against everything they thought they each believed in to simply be together. Mr. Finn has thoughtfully included insight to both Logan and Matt's very different childhoods which was perfectly integrated into the overall plot line. But for me the very lovely and realistic descriptions of New York City, Manhattan in particular in Autumn just made this book all that much better. OPPOSING BRIEFS was the first book I have read by Mr. Finn but will definitely not be the last. Hopefully a sequel is planned featuring Logan's best friend Matt!

If you're looking for a steamy romance novel with plenty of tension and drama, "Opposing Briefs" by Ian Finn is the perfect choice. The story follows Logan and Andrew, two opposing lawyers who find themselves drawn to each other despite their professional rivalry. As they work together on a high-stakes case, their attraction grows stronger, but their conflicting interests threaten to tear them apart.
Finn does an excellent job of creating complex, multifaceted characters in Logan and Andrew. They both have their flaws and vulnerabilities, but they are also incredibly passionate and driven. The chemistry between them practically sizzles off the page, and you'll find yourself rooting for them to overcome their differences and find a way to be together.
Overall, "Opposing Briefs" is a well-written, engaging novel that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. Whether you're a fan of steamy romance or legal dramas, this book is sure to satisfy.
    Happy Reading...enjoy!

I loved this sweet story of Andrew and Logan! It was such a great read that I could not put it down! The fear of being vulnerable is terrifying, but that's risk you take when you realize that you're in love! To know that you aren't alone in this life, that there is somebody to hold you up when you cant even stand on your own. Its the most beautiful thing in the world!

Logan and Andrew have very different opinions about white collar criminals and Logan is especially annoyed at losing a case to Andrew when his client is so obviously a charlatan, gouging poorer people out of their life savings. Logan concedes that Andrew is very attractive so when they are out training for a marathon and Andrew kisses him then runs away, he is shocked but also intrigued. Turns out Andrew's wife could sub for Cruella Devil, but I question Andrew's reasons for staying with her. His career is more important than his own self-worth? Anyway he and Logan bond and start a sexual affair and fall in love real fast. I'm all for people finding themselves and getting out of bad marriages, but the way Andrew falls into having sex with Logan while still married was a bit icky. The guys are in the thirties but do come across as much younger in their thought processes, so while I was certain they'd get their HEA I was hoping that at some point they'd have had more mature conversations. The author could have used a better editor, some of the writing is a bit stiff and awkward at times.

I have this book give stars because Andrew and Logan are so believable and I couldn't put the book down. I can honestly say their story touched my heart and I cried with Andrew when he finally makes his decision to walk away from a wide that makes his life a pure he'll and embrace his true self. I can't imagine having to come out the way Andrew did but glad that Ian wrote in such supportive friends.

Two main characters so sweet they would rot your teeth. Andrew was such a wimp I just wanted to slap him. No way he was a decent lawyer to defend low life corporate bad guys. Bad characters were so bad you want to shoot them both. All characters so unlikely to exist in real life.

I find 2 things interesting: The fact that any writer would think to romanticize cheating, and the fact that if cheating were mentioned in a book's synopsis, said book would have fewer readers. I wish it were an obligation, because I'm not a fan. I read romance for ROMANCE; once the cheating starts that's practically all I can think about. So, as you can guess, Andrew cheats on his wife with Logan, no separation, while they still live together. Painting her as a bad wife didn't help. Andrew still had the choice. And like another reader said, how could Logan start out despising Andrew because of his morals in the courtroom but be perfectly okay with his morals during marriage? And Andrew was so completely spineless outside of court, he wasn't really likeable anyway, but then again neither was Logan. Combine all this with very poor editing and overall clunky writing and it's just not worth it. Catch when it's free, if you're still interested (that's how I got it).

Logan is happy but not rich, trying to punish the bad guys. Andrew is successful, wealthy, defender of society’s morally bankrupt and completely miserable. When Andrew suddenly realises what Logan means to him, life is never the same again, but in a good way. The HFN is always on the horizon, and a year later, it’s a HEA.

It is a nice read. I liked the characters. But I was expecting the enemity to be between the two characters and then them becoming lovers instead of the existence of the villains.

I thought it was well written , a person having to deal with their feeling and sexuality and coming to terms that they been living a lie of themself and taking steps to embrace it and form an relationship and with the prejudice of others and accepting who they are , I really enjoyed this book because it goes show that we still live in a devided community.

I do hope this author goes through the transformation of his characters. When it is decided to make categories of people who are "disease-free" or not, then they have a lot to learn about the responsibilities of writing. Total disgust, you need further self-evaluation. I wish I could more strongly register my disapproval, I chose that rating as it was as low as I could rate this work.
