About the Author

J. J. Thorn is the author of the Weight of It All series.

Gabriel Vaughan is an Audie Award-winning narrator and classically trained actor. He grew up without television in western Massachusetts and listened to a lot of books on tape as a kid, so narrating audiobooks enjoyably feels like coming full circle. He is a founding member of the Tennessee Shakespeare Company and co-owner of Little Town Studios together with his wife and fellow narrator, Piper Goodeve. He has a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and studied acting in London at British American Drama Academy.

Hi Everyone. I'm J.J.

(New!) I started a newsletter! Head to my website to keep in touch - www.jjthornbooks.com

I love LitRPG, GameLit, and Progression Fantasy stories. These stories made me appreciate reading again.

I'm a Canadian looking to write stories that aren't just wish-fulfillment LitRPGs. I hope to tell stories that enrage, delight, and push the limits of the LitRPG genre. I aim to get there one day :).

My first series was 'The Weight Of It All,' a series about a boy finding his place on the continent of Terna, where dungeoneering is a way of life and getting stronger is not just a goal.

My latest series of stories is about orphans who are forced to survive and thrive in a post-apocalyptic world. Named 'System Orphans, ' each will follow a different orphan, with the first set of books following Claire. In this series, fewer punches are pulled as Claire strives to kill anyone who appears on her Quest.

The two series are VERY different, but I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks for giving my stories a chance - you can find me on Instagram: @jjthornbooks, on facebook @JJTHORNBOOKS or my website:

This was a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author's plot driven story continues to allow for character growth and development. They continue to question the morality of their own actions and choices. This makes the story more compelling. While keeping the characters relatable. And while the mc is strong he is by no means op. Can't wait for the next book.

I have to agree with another review that said Thorn is spending too much time on fight scenes not enough on character interactions. I am enjoying this series less, unfortunately.
It is still worth reading but hopefully Thorn can move forward with his descriptions and relationships.

This entire series has been amazing. I find myself not wanting to do anything else other than read this series. I read all 5 books out this week, and while I’m disappointed I have to wait for book six, I have to say this is my favorite series I’ve ever read. Really enjoyable, thanks so much for all the love put in to the story.

This book had me hooked so bad I could barely put it down! I really liked the interludes that gave an expanded perspective on the plot. I wanted to see more Skills for the big group battle, but I understand how that could’ve bogged down the pacing. And the ending!! Ugh I can’t even describe how much I needed there to be another chapter to know what happens!! I can’t wait for the next one!

After the collapse of the dungeon everyone in Terrence team left prep. school an headed to the capital tried to start a new life we his dad an little sister an all his teammates but things don't go as planned . recommend reading excellent series .

The story over all is not bad. It felt a bit ridged and the romantic relationships and emotional scenes seems out of place. I prefer the romance removed completely and just focus on friendship and better character development. The use of "energy" in stead of mana and "orbs" instead of monster core breaks the fantasy for me.

I've enjoyed the series so far and j.j. Has done a good job. One of my biggest and really my only complaint is multiple storie lines at once. Yes the majority is following Terrance but I dislike being drawn to other side characters that are not that interesting. Other than that a pretty good read I wouldn't put it in my top ten but in glad I've read it and Ill read any more that come out

Oh boy I want the next book now. So as expected the story continues. The author does continue at a faster pace than hen needed and we get more action as a result. Characters grow new mysteries arise and it will make you want more. Now the interlude was not as interesting as the main story but it has it’s place. Overall 5 stars.

Ren has to make some hard choices, as he becomes, almost, an adult. His growth and his bond with his team is as strong as ever, and that's probably the two elements that really make this series enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, and left wanting the next one. Very satisfying seeing how the characters continue to grow and adapt to their improving affinities. I wish the next book was already out so I could drive straight back Into this world.
