About the author

Broken, broody, mysterious, swoony, inclusive; those are my tropes.
It’s my grandmother’s fault! Alice Lee bribed me to read with a Nancy Drew box set—and changed my life forever.
Love at first binge read.
By the time high school rolled around I’d already discovered romantic suspense and gothic romance, and I’ve never looked back. What can I say? My love of mystery and suspense started early and runs deep.
Is there anything better than a character who by the end of the story manages to redeem/heal themselves enough to fall in love? No, there isn’t.
Fast forward to 2017 when, with a shaky finger, I pressed the Publish button for the first time. I’ve never regretted it. I love writing and telling stories that others enjoy, it’s a dream come true.
What else? I love both cats and dogs. Star Wars and Star Trek. Pineapple on pizza, and have a cribbage habit my husband encourages. We live in a log cabin near Hood Canal in Washington State, if the sky is clear at night the milky way is visible. But most often I’m inside devouring yet another book!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2020I loved Edmund in NorthStar. He has now moved to America. He meets Owen at the app company that he freelances at. I love how they both crush on each other! Edmund seemed so real; he’s got so many insecurities! They go on a road trip to see Owen’s Aunt Pearl in the hospital and get stuck in a snowstorm. They end up in a cabin. I loved all the troupes in this, the fake boyfriend, opposites attract, and older/younger men. Really good holiday story, sooo good! I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advance copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019I'm a total sucker for "opposites attract" especially when combined with "forced proximity", and both tropes were done very well in this book. Edmund is pushing 45 and very insecure about how he looks. Owen is very attractive and much younger, but he has had a crush on Edmund for months. This is a very sweet story that details how their situational friendship develops into love, and how very right for each other they are. If you're looking for a lot of angst and misery, you won't find that here - but to me this book was like a fluffy blanket on a cold winter's night.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2019The storyline is fine if a bit loosely constructed. We need more details and background on the Owen’s job and coworkers. The character development is minimal and provides a place to start but leaves much to be guessed. Would have been better if the rest of book were as detailed as the extremely wordy sex scenes. It does end with a positive promise, though the ending feels a bit perfunctory.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2021Edmund is a great character that certainly deserves his HEA. Owen was a fleeting mention a few times in other books and I am happy to meet him again. They are very sweet. As always, I love returning to Skagit.

A cute story with Owen and Edmund. A kind of friend/ acquaintance to lovers story.
Owen we met with Miguel at the wedding it was also great to see Pearl again. I didn’t pick up the player vibes from him in that story . I still really love his relationship with Pearl.
I liked the fact that Edmund wasn’t the model type that is usually portrayed. Owen saw through the looks to see the person underneath.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2020In Skagit, Washington we see young Owen, who works as a personal assistant to a technology company businessman. Edmond, a Brit, 45, who is new to the area, is a bit overweight and a silver fox, but Owen really likes the client.
When Owen’s Aunt, whom he supports, has a fall, he needs to get to her, and good hearted client Edmond, offers to drive him.
Through the trip our men tell their back stories, meet his Aunt, and are enveloped in a snow storm on the way home.
Edmond finds a cabin for them, and the tension leads to beginning sexy times for virgin Edmond.
Can they make something of this sexy and emotional weekend?
Back at work they are busy with the Christmas party and a bad guy, but our men still feel their pull to each other.
This has serious topics, humor, lessons learned and true love.
Enjoy !

- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2020Edmond comes to the USA because his best friend moved there to be with the man he loved. Through work he meets Owen and crushes on him. Owen sees Edmond as someone special. They care for each other but are afraid to make a move. I really enjoyed this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok
I enjoyed this book, it was an easy uncomplicated read, with nothing really going on just the relationship between the main characters. Obviously there wasn't a lot of depth to it but it was quick and easy

4.0 out of 5 stars Love these Skagit boys!
Oh I Loved it, i love a great close proximity, age gap romance... one with body and self esteem issues and the other with commitment issues. Edmund and Owen had been attracted from when they first met... it took extenuating circumstances for them to act on it...

4.0 out of 5 stars A steamy fun lost in a storm read
This lovely novella from Elle reintroduced me to one of my favourite mysterious characters, Owen from Sure as the Sun and Edmund from the North Star.
This forced proximity read was a delight as shy and sweetly nervous Edmund takes Owen down and brings him back up to the strong person his aunt Pearl knew him to be. Owen becomes a person worthy of Edmund as he sees the kind good hearted person rather than the not so perfect outer layers that is Edmund.
This holiday story hits the right notes for the season and I can’t wait for more from Elle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loveable
Sweet. Most would find this too easy a word but the characters are loveable and the romances are wonderful. This book is a treat something easy to read.
