Growing up, Griffin Thorne was the most annoying, adorable, and infuriating boy I’d ever met. I told myself I wanted nothing to do with him, but no matter how much I tried to hate him, that crazy boy somehow became my best friend.

As teenagers, we were inseparable. Despite the high school rumors, we never crossed any lines. Friends forever. That was our motto.

Griffin grew up to become a smoking hot firefighter and I got my dream job as the town librarian. Life was perfect. However, when tragedy strikes and we’re forced to move in together, our friendship is put to the biggest test yet.

Do I risk everything for the chance at an epic love? If I follow my heart, I could lose my best friend. But if it works, we could finally get our very own Happily Ever After.

Perfection, Perfection, Perfection!! 😍🔥😍

Perfection, Perfection, Perfection!! 😍🔥😍
Oh my heart y’all!! This book was friends to lovers per-fect-ion!! I mean everything about it. From the small town vibe to the secondary characters, to my home girl, Nan, was magic. It was one of those kinds of books you want to melt and pour yourselves into the pages of just so you can become a part of the story, be BFFs with the characters, sit on the front porch with them drinking sweet tea and shootin’ the breeze. The kind of book where you simultaneously squeal in happiness at the ending, but also sort of want to cry because it’s over and you really never wanted it to end. I was entranced by it from the first page to the very last. Evangeline “Leni” Hughes is this sweet and beautiful red-head. The BFF to Griffin who’s living her dream by working as the town’s librarian. She’s had some sadness and loss in her life but through it all she had had two constants, Griffin and her grandmother whom she calls, Nan. I love this character y’all. She’s gorgeous, but doesn’t know just how much. She’s caring and would do anything to help anyone, and not for recognition, but because she’s just good to her core. I could not love this gal more!! She sees the good in everyone and when she loves someone she loves with her whole heart. But she just so happens to love her best friend with her whole heart. Like loves him loves him. Like white picket fences and I wanna have your babies and grow old with you, kind of loves him. She’s worried that if they go down that path it could potentially risk their friendship and that’s one of the most important things in her entire life. What will happen when Griffin starts dropping little hints that he just might be feeling the same way? Will Leni throw caution to the wind for a chance to have everything she’s ever wanted and a happy ever after with Griffin? Griffin is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. He’s sweet as pie, and he’s all kinds of swoony. He’s a firefighter, y’all, obviously this man is hotter than my granny’s biscuits and gravy. He is loyal and would do anything and I mean anything for Leni and her Nan. Even if that means hiding his true feelings for her until she’s ready. He’s been friends with her since they were nine years old and their friendship has changed a lot over the years. “Griffin, you little turdscicle. I will find you and I will hurt you.” He hasn’t always loved this girl, but now as an adult he can’t live without her. When Leni starts showing signs that she just might have feelings that go beyond friendship will he be able to convince her the risk is worth it for the rewards? While this was my first book by Miranda Elaine, I can guarantee it won’t be my last. I LOVED the style of her writing. It’s fun, realistic and refreshing. It was exactly what I needed in my life right now, even though I didn’t even know it. I love that Miranda gave me a new and exciting take on the friends-to-lovers genre packed with amazing secondary characters and set in a perfect small town setting you can help but to fall in love with and all the steam you could want. Griffin and his red-headed beauty are HOT as HADES!! I can only hope we get Parker’s story and MUCH more Nan, because Nan is my spirit sister y’all! For my Nan I can help but to picture a cross between Betty White and Cloris Leachman. Adorably and hilariously awesome! This book is a must read for rom-com, contemporary romance, friends-to-lovers fans alike. It has something for everyone! Add it to your TBR today and start counting the days until you can grab it because you don’t wanna miss it! My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐⭐- So much goodness in here! All the stars in the sky! This was sweet and swoony. Hot and steamy. Funny and feisty. It.Was.Everything. 🔥🔥🔥🔥- GAH! This was full of all the steam, plenty of sweet and swoony. Griffin was the perfect blend of smokin hot southern gentlemen and alpha AF in the bedroom. Gotta love some hot and dirty love makin’ 🌪Cliffhanger Warning- Hells Bells Y’all!* It’s Just So Dang Good* Perfection. Yay! 😍🔥😍

This was such a sweet friends to lovers’ romance and I loved every moment of it.

Leni is the town librarian and resident book lover. You won’t catch her many places without a book or her kindle close by. Her best friend is quite the opposite. Griffin Thorne is a hunky fireman who tries his best to get Leni out of the house and to live a little. They’ve known each other since they were little, and what was once annoyance turned into an amazing friendship that they both value. When an unexpected tragedy happens and Leni starts staying with Griffin, the feelings they’ve tried to keep hidden come rushing to the surface. The question is, are either of them ready to take that leap, or will they stay in the friendzone forever?

I loved every part of this story. First and foremost, I think that Leni is one of the most relatable characters ever. She’s shy around new people, but opens up once you get to know her. She’s a lover of all things books and is fiercely loyal. As for Griffin, please the hot and outgoing firefighter…need I say more? He’s amazing and every time he nudged Leni out of her comfort zone I loved him even more.

Now lets talk secondary characters. Nan is Leni’s grandma and is freaking hilarious. She has zero filter and lives her life to the fullest, and I love her sass. Parker is also amazing, and I’m really hoping we get a book about her (no pressure Miranda ;) ). I have a feeling I know who would be a perfect match for her!

Everything about this story from the characters, to the plot was amazing and extremely down to earth which I think contributed to why I love it so much. I haven’t read any other books by Miranda Elaine, but now that I’ve read this one, I’m definitely going to go back and read her other books!

This book about life long friends who become more is so cute! Griffin and Leni are best friends, who have the best story.

Woven into it is the heartbreak of loss and fear. I like how they always have each others backs and how they work to overcome any obstacles in their lives. I enjoyed this book!

From a new-to-me author, Miranda Elaine, I was excited to read a love story between the hunky fireman and introverted librarian.

Leni and Griffin started as childhood enemies but quickly became best friends. As they got older they both wanted much more but were afraid to take it any further.

Griffin is such a swoon-worthy hunk. Completely devoted and extremely thoughtful in his actions toward Leni.
Leni deeply cares for Griffin but she struggles with the loss of her mother. This hinders every relationship she has and especially prevents her from moving forward with Griffin.

This is a VERY slow burn romance. We are talking not getting their first kiss until 58%.

Their official first date …. a restaurant and bookstore all in one … 😍😍😍!

The downside to the slow burn was I found myself getting frustrated with Leni’s hesitation to move forward with the relationship. Griffin is so devoted to Leni that I wished he would have stepped up sooner to confess his feelings.

If you are looking for a sweet small-town romance with a moderate steam level then this is the perfect book for you.

This book was so swoon worthy! It’s been on my radar forever but I kept getting sidetracked from it.

From forced neighbors and friends at nine to best friends to forever. What an amazing trajectory they went through to get to their forever.

It was quite fun to see super shy Leni make the first move on Griffin at Parker’s insistence! He was so shocked he couldn’t move for a second and she took that as rejection. He showed her fast how very wrong that was lol

It was nice to see that little bit from Shane and see the brothers reconnect. It would be fun for him to get a book—will have to peruse the rest of the series as I can tell this world is going to be fun.

Her grandma is an absolute hoot of a women too! Makes me miss mine even more! ❤️❤️

Leni and Griffin are so sweet together. This story has that 'small town we grew up as kids and love each other very much " vibe. After spending years tip toeing around each other they finally make a move.
Leni has her dream job as a librarian and Griffin is a firefighter after his dad. It defintely has small town feel to it. Leni lives with her Nan since her mom passed away when she was younger.

Its a cute story overall. I found myself wanting to shake Leni a bit. She's this lovable , kind woman but For someone who came off as so smart and well rounded she could be a little babyish. Griffin is such a sweet guy. He loves her so hard (and has quite a dirty mouth) . I defintely would recommend if you like small town romances!

What a sweet and fun friends to lovers story. Griffin I loved from the beginning and he is what book boyfriends are made of. The connection him and Lenie have is what many strive for and he is the yin to her yang. Will they be able to take the next step in their relationship or will there be trouble in paradise when tested? This is one story you will have to read to see what happens.

Overdue is one of my favorite books of 2020.
This friends to lovers book hit me in the feels I laughed, I cried, and I laughed some more. The connection between Leni and Griffin is what dreams are made of.

Leni has been in love with her best friend Griffin for a long time. He's a smokin' hot firefighter who would do anything to protect her.

Griffin has been in love with his best friend Leni since the day she showed up in his life. He finds her quirky side adorable, even when she's got on a baggy sweater and a messy bun on the top of her head.

Overdue has a cast of undeniably wonderful characters and a rich storyline. If you love to laugh and have a bit of a cry, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and sexy!

Oh my heart! This friends to lovers book was such a sweet, heartwarming and humorous story, with a side of sexy 😉 Griffin & Evangeline (Leni) have been best friends for years, living next door and spending every spare moment together. Griffin has been in love with Leni for as long as he can remember, but held back from letting her know. While Leni also loves Griffin, but she is so afraid of losing him, she would rather have him as a best friend than nothing at all. This was my first book by Miranda Elaine, and it certainly won’t be my last. I highly recommend this book as a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best friends to lovers....is it worth the risk
Reviewed in Australia on March 8, 2021
Leni and Griffin’s love story was a long time in the making. What started off as childhood putting up with the other, slowly started to grow. As they get older they become inseparable but they never cross the line for best friends to something more.

Leni has her demons and she doesn’t want to loose her best friend by seeing if they can be anything more.

Griffin has had enough of just being her best friend and wants more but is unsure how to proceed.

Things happen in Leni’s life that being things to ahead. Will it be enough for them to try for a life together or will she forever run scared.

Theirs was a beautiful love story not only in Griffin’s love for her but in also for his incredible patience for her. Leni’s Nan was an absolute hoot and she really added a special touch to the story, as did her new friend and neighbour Parker. An absolute must read, you won’t regret it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Super sweet
Reviewed in Australia on October 11, 2020
Ok. I really wanted to love this book. It was super sweet, the characters were adorable, Nan was pretty darn funny, and the steamy scenes were pretty hot.
    But.
A few times, I couldn’t quite blend the sweet and innocent, with the turn to hot and sexy. Both were great, but the transition from one to the other didn’t always seem plausible.
But the biggest thing that bothered me, was that their past relationships weren’t satisfactorily address. I loved reading about how they came to be friends as children, and grew to love each other in adolescence. It was where most of that heart swelling sweetness came from. They loved each other for most of their lives! It almost felt epic! But for the first 40% of the book, I kept wondering how old they were, and, are they still virgins? Because they only ever wanted each other. How could you sleep with someone else when you so completely loved, and wanted to belong to, each other? I mean, I can totally come around to understanding whatever the circumstances were that meant they saw other people, but it was never really addressed, so it bothered me. Which kind of distracted me for a big chunk of the book.
3 stars for all the touching and hot moments anyway.
