News flash! It’s the holiday season, and Rocco is dashing through the snow on the trail of a Santa-killer.

Zora Flynn, owner of the local newspaper, and Rocco, her pampered prince of a poodle, are desperate to solve the crime. No one wants to see young reporter, Brady, behind bars for the holidays!

Brady has received a shocking piece of good news. But in the eyes of the police, it makes him their number one murder suspect. Everyone knows that Brady is honest, law-abiding, and big-hearted. Zora refuses to believe he has a motive for killing the Williamsport Santa.

It turns out that the late Santa is not who he seems, and Zora and her reporters delve into his startling past to try to track down the real killer and exonerate Brady.

Between an ice storm, the big Santa Claus parade, a surprise discovery, and a very romantic evening at home, Zora is running out of time.

Here is a holiday story that’s guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings!

I love writing every day and the result so far is four mystery series, and counting. I’ve been retired from teaching for a couple of years, and am totally immersed in my new career as a mystery writer. I hope you enjoy the results!

New in Spring 2023! The Elk Ridge Murder Mysteries follow Inspector Hilary Casgrain in a sensational new crime fiction series! It's a spinoff from my most popular books, the Port Alma Murder Mysteries.

The longer Poodle Versus… series is a reader favorite. Small-town action, zany characters, and a Nasty Small Poodle will capture your heart in these cozy mysteries.

The Murder In Season trilogy features injured detective constable Claire Beckett.

The Free Prequels to all my series are available on my website, AnneShillolo.com.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series but this one really kept me guessing. Zora takes Rocco out for a walk early in the morning as usual. Leave it to Rocco to react strangely and draw Zora's attention to a Santa sleeping in an armchair on a neighbors porch. You guessed it. He was dead... but did he just fall asleep and freeze to death or was it murder or an accident or what. I don't want to spoil the delight of discovery for you. Enjoy a quiet time with a delightful book.Happy reading

I add my positive comments to the others. This series (and this book in particular) is enjoyable, witty, with a good plot and wonderful characters whom you love to read about time and again. The behind-the-scenes newspaper work is also a different, and fun, aspect. A wonderful, light-hearted read.

What an enjoyable, quick read! There is quite a bit going on between the discovery of yet another dead body in Williamsport, the busy holiday season, romance for Brady, Olivia, Zora and maybe even Rocco, each chapter is interesting and the story moves along well.
There are some honest laugh out loud moments in this book. There are elements in the previous books, such as how the endings wrap up, that are improved up on in this book, but I could still do without the "trolling" of Zora in every book. It bothers me that she is made the butt of the joke all the time, even when the "joke" isn't very funny. That aside, I did enjoy this book and revisiting the gang in Williamsport.

Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book.

Zora and Olivia are investigating after one of their own is suspected of murder. Brady is under suspicion when Reggie Keye, a former occupant of the boarding house, is killed. Not many people liked Reggie but that was no case to kill him. How did this happen, who would have done this and why? Both Zora and Olivia don’t believe he did this and is out to prove his innocence. During all this, they are preparing for Christmas store front competition and the parade. Of course, Rocco was a hoot with his behavior. There were twists, turns and surprises to keep you reading. I loved how this all turned out.

The story is full of humor with a touch of romance. The mystery pulls you in and keeps you guessing. The setting of the town seems like an enjoyable place. The camaraderie and the love for each other is outstanding. I look forward to the next book in the series. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, you are missing out.

I enjoy the Poodle Versus series and this may be my favorite so far! Between Zara and Rocco this book had my in stitches! On their morning walk, Zora discovers a dead Santa in a neighbor’s Christmas display, and he turns out to be a thoroughly annoying man, with plenty of suspects! This is a delightful small town story with window display contests, parades, and some hysterical antics by Rocco as Zora and her team of reporters try to solve the murder. When Brady is accused, they double their efforts and find out some interesting history on the man. There’s even a little romance for Zora. Enjoy!

I loved the quirky characters in this book and their Inter-actions with each other and the general public. My favorite character by far was the Nasty Poodle and his connection with Zora. I found d myself laughing out loud at their dialogue with each other. The mystery wasn't the hardest to solve but I overlooked that in favor of the way the book moved along. I recommended this book to everyone who enjoys an escape to small town life.

Anne Shillolo did it again. I always thoroughly enjoy her stories. The characters at the Whistle are not only interesting, but they are talented newspaper people. I like how they work as a team, and use the white board to create their list. And the ongoing tension with Arnie is always good. Always a satisfying ending.

This series just keeps getting better and better. A murder, an "older" woman who owns a small-city newspaper, lives in a penthouse (that's only on the 5th floor), is owned by a feisty miniature poodle named Rocco, and has a tech company genius "boyfriend". The murders are intriguing and puzzling, the characters are likable and interesting, the scenery is beautiful, there's no sex or bad language. What's not to love? The only thing I don't love is having to wait for the next book. I'm hooked.

Really like these books. There is no gory details or graphic gratuitous sex. The characters are realistic and are not portrayed as superhuman. I can imagine living there and liking the characters.
