Poodle Versus The Killer (Cottage Country Cozy Mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 106 ratings

When the Galaxy Orchestra comes to town, it turns out murder is on the program at the local summer arts festival.

Zora and Rocco have to face the music!

The shocking death of a beloved star musician leaves an intriguing trail of suspects and red herrings.

Zora Flynn, a local newspaper publisher, and Rocco, her pampered prince of a poodle, get serious about solving the crime when a web of suspicion falls over hardworking reporter, Olivia.

Is the mercurial conductor a killer, or one of the musicians?

Pranksters have been re-writing signs all over Williamsport. They even tag Rocco! Are they responsible for murder as well?

Across everything else, the staff of the Williamsport Whistle has entered the Homemade Boat Race. It’s ‘anchors aweigh’ as they compete against a flotilla of rickety rafts in front of a boisterous crowd.

Zora is sure she can hear her princely pet and his snarky comments. But it’s not until the suspenseful finale that he shows his true colors as a tough ‘bush poodle.’

“This is the cozy mystery series to get hooked on!” Amazon Review

“Combines the intriguing ups and downs of a good mystery and the shenanigans of an impish poodle perfectly.” Amazon Review

I love writing every day and the result so far is four mystery series, and counting. I’ve been retired from teaching for a couple of years, and am totally immersed in my new career as a mystery writer. I hope you enjoy the results!

New in Spring 2023! The Elk Ridge Murder Mysteries follow Inspector Hilary Casgrain in a sensational new crime fiction series! It's a spinoff from my most popular books, the Port Alma Murder Mysteries.

The longer Poodle Versus… series is a reader favorite. Small-town action, zany characters, and a Nasty Small Poodle will capture your heart in these cozy mysteries.

The Murder In Season trilogy features injured detective constable Claire Beckett.

The Free Prequels to all my series are available on my website, AnneShillolo.com.

Kept me guessing until the very end
I love the character development and the way the plot evolves in a logical , direct story line in all the books in this series. They are the type of book I love to read on a day when I am stuck in the house because I know once I start I week read until I am finished. In there is book there is a concert with a renowned performer who leaves the stage at an unusual time and later is found dead. In order not to soil the plot for you let me just say this one kept me guessing and I didn't suspect the character who is the murderer. Once again Poodle to the rescue!!! I am sure that cozy mystery readers will not want to miss this book.

It’s Festival Week in Williamsport, one of the highlights of the summer season, and pranksters are out in glory. They not only rearranged portable signs, propped roadkill against guardrail posts and signs and tucked their dead limbs around a variety of available props but Rocco also fell to the pranksters’ shenanigans by decorating him with spray paint. Festival Week consisted of a long series of events and activities beginning with the Galaxy Orchestra performing two-hour a concert for all. During the week event, the performers had agreed to stay on to present workshops, master classes, and solo performances at their Music at Noon series. Things not only go wrong, they go terribly wrong when Maeve McGregor, a member of the orchestra, takes a drink from her water bottle and suddenly leaves the stage before the concert is over. Thus, the investigation begins. Was she murdered or did she take something accidentally? Will Zora, Olivia, Brady and Arni uncover what happened to Maeve? Will they catch the killer before leaving town? This is a must read!

There is so much detail in describing the town it makes you feel like you are there walking along with the characters. Anne is so descriptive that you can picture the people and places in your mind as you read. The plot is filled with twists and turns and humor. Just when you think you have identified the killer, guess again! I laughed out loud in places, and Rocco’s antics are always entertaining! This is another great read and looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

On the second day of the Festival Weekend the professional flute player suddenly left the orchestra. Zara, Rocco the poodles owner and editor of the local newspaper followed her to see if she was alright. By the time she got to her, she was dead. The police initially thought it was from her diabetes. Zara, Olivia and Bradley, her two reporters disagreed. As they follow the clues, they uncover several suspects. They finally figure out how she was killed and who was responsible. Now, all they have to do is convince the police and prevent the killers escape, with a little help from Rocco of course. Great book as always. Can't wait for the next one.

This series is just delightful. Here a famous and kind musician, teacher to one of the reporters, dies during a local performance. Only the police believe it is an accident, or that Olivia is a possible murderer, so it's up to the others and poodle Rocco to prove otherwise. Relaxing and well written!

Once again newspaper owner Zora Flynn and her poodle Rocco are looking for a killer!

It’s Festival Week in Williamsport and there is all kinds of fun to be had! One of the events is a free concert consisting of musicians from different locations. Olivia, a reporter for the Whistle is a flutist in the orchestra.During the concert, another player Maeve takes ill and suddenly leaves the stage. She doesn’t return. Which makes Zora curious as to what happened. Zora goes looking for her and stumbles upon Maeve, seemingly dead, near the restrooms. Zora calls police chief Arni and the investigation begins.

Was Maeve’s death due to natural causes (she was diabetic) or was it murder? While Arni and the police department officially look for answers, Zora, Bradley and Olivia pull out the trusty white board and get busy! The search is on with two prime suspects. The twists and turns will keep you guessing. Along the way we find out that Rocco has retriever capabilities as he finds a missing drone! “Werepoodle” indeed! Zora’s love interest Darius is finally introduced to her friends as he provides the drone Rocco searches for.

This is the third book in the series and each one gets better. The author, Anne Shillolo, is an excellent visual writer. It’s like I’m reading a movie. When I read about Zora, Jamie Lee Curtis pops into my head! Hallmark Movie Mysteries are you listening?

I highly recommend this series. Anne Shillolo has quickly become one of my favorite authors.

Thank you to the author for the chance to read and review this fantastic cozy!

Prince Rocco, the poodle, once more joins his owner, Zora Flynn in tracking down a killer. Maeve McGregor, a member of the Galaxy Orchestra, dies unexpectedly of hypoglycemia. Was it an accident or murder? Zora as the owner of the local newspaper is investigating. She's suspicious and finds several suspects. Anne Shillolo has done an excellent job writing this cozy. The plot is complex and interesting. The suspect is slippery. He has planned the murder well. I was worried that he might escape justice. I, also, enjoyed seeing more of Darius Bell, Zora's secret boyfriend. I was glad that her friends now know about him. I'm looking forward to what the future holds for these two. As usually Rocco makes me smile. He has attitude and personality to spare. I enjoy this series and I can't wait for Zora and Rocco's next adventure.
