Poodle Versus The Vigilante (Cottage Country Cozy Mysteries Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 80 ratings

In breaking news… Rocco has a new killer to sniff out!

A vigilante is stalking the cottage country town of Williamsport with a series of payback pranks, and it appears no one can escape his swift justice. But has the mysterious avenger gone too far?

The newest victim was a friendly, hardworking, selfless environmentalist. What could she have possibly done to incur the wrath of the Vigilante and become the first target to die?

Zora Flynn is the local newspaper publisher, and owner of Rocco, her pampered prince of a poodle. She isn’t convinced that a single person is responsible for the winter crime wave.

But then… that would mean two crimes to solve, instead of one.

Zora, Rocco, and the reporters at the Williamsport Whistle are on deadline. Catch a killer and put the Vigilante on ice!

Can they do it before crime snowballs and bloodies the reputation of the picturesque cottage country town?

I love writing every day and the result so far is four mystery series, and counting. I’ve been retired from teaching for a couple of years, and am totally immersed in my new career as a mystery writer. I hope you enjoy the results!

New in Spring 2023! The Elk Ridge Murder Mysteries follow Inspector Hilary Casgrain in a sensational new crime fiction series! It's a spinoff from my most popular books, the Port Alma Murder Mysteries.

The longer Poodle Versus… series is a reader favorite. Small-town action, zany characters, and a Nasty Small Poodle will capture your heart in these cozy mysteries.

The Murder In Season trilogy features injured detective constable Claire Beckett.

The Free Prequels to all my series are available on my website, AnneShillolo.com.

Zora and Rocco are at it again!

Zora and Rocco are at it again!
Zora and Rocco are out walking early one morning and discover another of the Vigilante’s pranks - garbage bags piled on the local environmentalist’s front porch. But when Rocco keeps barking, Zora discovers Louise Carling’s body. Her last words “I was wrong” mystify Zora as she calls 911. This is the 3rd Vigilante prank, but the others didn’t involve violence! With the town in an uproar over two controversial topics, there’s a lot to investigate. Can Zora figure this one out? Another great story in the poodle series, with lots of fun and craziness!

Zora and Rocco are at it again when they passed a house with the front porch piled high with bulging garbage bags and other refuse. Zora knew the woman who lived there was Louise Carling who is a well-known local resident and a staunch environmentalist. Zora thought the Vigilante had struck again but as she and Rocco were passing her house, Rocco stopped and looked over at the porch. Something wasn’t right and Zora went to investigate. As she did, a dark form with a mane of hair raised its head from among the bags and Zora discovered it was Louise. Did the Vigilante do this or was it someone else? As Zora investigates, she uncovers a piece of information that had been a secret for quite a while. While the community is upset about where the landfill and the homeless shelter will be placed, Zora continues to compile information dealing Louise’s death and the committees she was a participant. She also has some fun at the dog sled race and the skijor competition. Join Zora as she tracks down the evidence to rule out the innocent suspects. There were twists, turns and surprises to keep you reading. This was an enjoyable book which you will not be disappointed.

Another great Poodle vs book! Easy to read, fun, actual laugh-out-loud at the nicknames of a couple old, fat sled dogs as Fatty Patty and Hairy Mary. Rock aka the Prince and the Rockinator never fails to get his person in situations that embarrass. The crew is the newspaper manage to solve crimes and get involved in crazy situations. These books are fun, funny, and vastly entertaining. Can't wait for the next one! Gotta get the author to write faster.

The "Poodle" series is evolving and this is a great addition. In the beginning of the series, some reviewers complained that the author had Zora focusing too much on her hair and clothes, and I fully expected to not like it for that reason. However, she isn't a silly woman who loves shopping and style - I found her concerns and decisions completely in keeping with those of a mature business woman, as well as her mature romantic relationship. It took me awhile to get in the groove of Ms. Shillolo's writing style but I came to appreciate it. The characters are fun and events often funny. I look forward to more, and plan to read the author's other series.

Have read the whole series. Love the characters, the background romance (no off-putting sexual innuendos, etc), the story is interesting, the scenery is beautiful (as described), the writing is professional and keeps your interest. I'm enjoying this series immensely and will be waiting in anticipation for the next book.

Zora and her poodle Roc are awesome. Zora owns the small town weekly newspaper and she and her two reporters, Brady and Olivia, have their hands full. This is a cozy series with a murder but Zora and her crew solve the murder. And Roc! He is opinionated and thinks he is a prince, but nevertheless is lovable. I adore this series and look forward to more books in this series.

I have enjoyed all of the author's "Poodle" books. This one was really enjoyable and I didn't guess the ending at all. I love the town and all the characters. The writing is always good.

A fun romp with Zora and her pampered poodle with an attitude, though he has his helpful moments. Solving a murder kept Zora quite busy til she figured it out with the help of dog hairs.
