PAINE: A High School Enemies to Lovers Romance (Rosewood High Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,034 ratings

Paine

She was my best friend… until her family ripped mine apart.

That was the past. Or so I thought.

I tried to put Camila behind me and move on with my life.

But she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.

I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. After all, Karma is a bitch like that.

Instead, I find myself drawn to Camila—or in our case, forced together.

Now I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.

And it’s the worst kind of pain...

Camila

He was the boy next door… until he became the enemy down the hall.

He blames me, ever since his dad left.

Like I’m somehow personally responsible for his family falling apart.

I can handle his anger. His animosity even.

But I don’t know how to handle him pretending to care after he’s been more than obvious how much despises me.

When his family has no place to go, he’s under my roof and under my skin.

I wish I could make him remember how we used to be.

Before he shattered my heart with his hatred.

Dear Reader, PAINE is the highly anticipated follow up to my high school bully romance, THORN. Are you ready to discover the truth about what happened between Camila and Mason? This enemies to lover romance is full of angst, drama, emotions and of course steam. It is an upper YA romance and not intended for readers under 17. I hope you enjoy. xo

High school angst at its best! loved!

High school angst at its best! loved!
Paine is book 2 in Tracy Lorraine’s Rosewood High series and it delivers the teen angst in spades! This is a friends-to enemies-to lovers romance and I loved the way it progressed! From book 1 we already knew that there was a long history between Mason and Camila, they grew up as neighbors and best friends until age 14 when something fractured that friendship. At first I was a little angry with Mason for punishing Camila over something that was completely out of her control! But really...he feels pain every time he looks at her and can’t help but let that morphe into hate. Mason brings the swoon while still managing to be a jerk. He both hates and cares for Camila. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two is pretty delicious! I loved watching (reading?) them struggle with their memories of friendship, current feelings of hate and then the longing for something more with each other. I love that the alternating POVs back track a bit, we get the new POV chapter from a few scenes behind leading up to where the last POV chapter left off. This stood out to me as something different that I really liked (Thorn was done this way as well!). Maybe other authors have done this and I just never noticed it before?! I don’t know. High school angst at its best! loved! *Thank you to the author for giving this ARC as a prize in a FB giveaway! Can’t wait for Savage!*

Yes, there are sex scenes. Yes, they are teenagers. Moving on this is really well written. You can feel the pain, frustration and anger of both Camila and Mason. It's heartbreaking the responsibility and choices that Mason makes in order to take care of and protect his little brothers. A parent not taking responsibility and losing their way a bit. Camila experiencing and navigating a tough senior year. These are things that happen in every day life.
But thanks to Ms. Lorraine's writing talent she gives keeps your interest and gives us a HEA. This is my third book of hers and will not be the last. Looking forward to reading more of her books.

Part of the Rosewood High Series, this book is better than it’s predecessor. With a better storyline that actually gets you hooked, you wonder what caused the drift between the main characters and has a few twists and turns that keep the story interesting. There are a few things that happen that for me were predictable, but it does add some drama to the story. Ending leaves you interested in the next book!

I loved this couple! But I’m also glad that Jake and Amalie continued to be a side focal point in the story too because I loved them and felt like their story never finished. This is turning out to be a great series afterall.

Tough friends to bully to lovers. It’s a good story and very intense. The drama of high school but everything about them makes it feel like they are so much older than they actually are when something is mentioned to suddenly remind me. This book is a definite roller coaster ride. And I like seeing the change and the turn around in both characters. Definite growth for both of them. I think the fact that they’re so young is the one thing that gets me. Cami and Mason are definitely a lot of fun to watch come together.

It had potential but fell flat. The ending was rushed into an epilogue. I may have to take another look at this one again because I just feel like it was missing something….

Former best friend turned enemies, they know each other’s secrets and what buttons to push to cause the most damage. But why did they fall out? I loved getting to find out the story behind Cami and Mason that was teased a little in Thorn I also loved seeing more of Jake and Amalie’s HEA. Paine is an emotional roller coaster with so many ups and downs, twists and turns that you dint know what will happen next. Tracy Lorraine’s writing is fantastic and I really like this world she has created.

This book is the second in this series the Rosewood High Series. I absolutely loved reading it and it was a fantastic follow on from Thorn. This is a real enemies to lovers story and a fantastic book.
    Book #1 Thorn
    Book #2 Paine

This is Mason and Camila story and after reading about them in the first book you will be desperate to read about them next. The author really made you very intrigued about them in the first book and seeing how there journey plays out.

These two had been best friends for years and told each other everything and leaned on one another too, that is until one day something happened that parted them.

Mason has had things pretty tough since his father left and he has been trying to juggle everything from school, his brothers and paying the bills, its very tough, he blames her family for it all.

Camlia has led quite a comfortable life and she has just tried to carry on without Mason and live her life but its hard for her to seeing him everyday. The thing is Cami bear has also had things tough and with the heat building between them both you will not be able to take your eyes of of them both.

I couldn't wait to read the next book in this series and I truly loved these characters. They have such a strong connection and even though he hates her he will protect her no matter what and I love that. Mason just needed someone to be there for him to understand. He is a great guy deep down and will do anything for the people he loves and I truly felt for him in parts.

I also loved seeing the old characters to and seeing how they are now is awesome. This author really knows how to write a fanatic story and brilliant characters that the reader will really connect and invest in. I was completely gripped from beginning to end and loved every minute of this book, the drama, the love and all the steam. This story really flows and I love this authors writing style and I cannot wait to get my hands on book #3 in the series and carry on at Rosewood High.
