Paranoid in Paradis: The second in the Pensioners in Paradis series Kindle Edition
After the excitement and hysterical adventures of leaving gloomy England for the joys of living in S.W. France (as chronicled in best-selling Pensioners in Paradis) comes Book 2: Paranoid in Paradis.
It starts in 2008, three years after our intrepid, self-deprecating pensioners settled down in the village of Paradis.
Each chapter follows exactly what happened, from the personal trauma of losing first one brother then the second, a few years apart, to the many humorous incidents along the way.
The story follows their life living amongst the French locals, learning step by step just how different French culture is from everything they’ve known in the past. But, also, as the years go by, it records what’s happening in the wider world, French news and how the French deal with it. From successive presidents, to local uprisings, it all hits our comic pair with anxiety and uncertainty over how they should deal with it all.
Into the mix come the two French dogs, Bruno and Tina. Their canine puzzlement over living an English life in France come to the fore, especially when the family decide to move from their medieval village to a house in the Toulouse suburbs. Then come the difficulties of dealing with hostile neighbours, who like neither the English nor their dogs.
The story ends in 2017 when Brexit brings everything to a head. What on earth will they do - surely not the unthinkable?

1.0 out of 5 stars Could have been good but........
I really wanted to read this book but almost as soon as I began reading, I was disappointed. The author's feeble attempts at jokes are SO annoying and not even remotely amusing. I was disappointed to give up on it but I failed to get past this.
I doubt I'll read another of her books but might try one just to see if she persists in trying to be a comedienne. Hope not!!
